What you didn't see during the commercial break. One of the producers came out to talk with David Letterman and accidently sat on Oprah, he apologized, he thought she was the new black leather couch Dave ordered.
Taking girls away from there familes sounds alot like the stolen generation the aboriginals went through. I hope she realises the pain the mothers will go through.
Oprah's too nice man. This constant positive commentary and where every single comment has to be positive is sickening lmfao.
And yes I'm being ironic but also truthful too.
I realize it's this type of thinking which has gotten her so far but at the same time, it's not a sane way to look at life I don't think. I mean she seems afraid to even do it in humour, like it's a crime to be cynical.
i read that she's mean to her staff. my attitude is she came from nothing and the money makes her now; if people don't want that vibe, work elsewhere, eh?
I love and Respect Oprah so much shes so Real and down to earth, She so humble and beutiful so so Human and she doesnt let Money affect her n anyway. Shes not Hollywood shes Real Love her.
Not only is DL a misogynist, and aside from Paul being a few bricks short a load, has anyone ever noticed how David, when he interviews black people only, starts talking differently, dropping the "ing" off the end of his words like he's all of a sudden southern, plus he only seems to prope black people for details on how they spend their money. I feel this is very blatant racist behavour, and in such a public forum. Who does this wrinkly old hag think he is anyway? I have no respect for it.
I'm American, and I know what you mean. Many times I just want to hear the person speak, without it being interrupted by sanctimonious applause. Sometimes it's genuine enthusiasm and approval of what someone's saying that causes an audience to burst forth with clapping; but many times it's just them being sanctimonious and politically correct. Also, the studio audiences for these types of shows are coached by the production staff to applaud. The show's producers WANT there to be clapping.
It's a sign of approval. Similar to why the British and English sarcastically laugh at everything with their nose up in the air while the hold a cup of tea wit their pinky extended. Everyone claps when they hear something they like, douche bag.
@StaceyT08 - you don't say. Slightly stating the obvious there Stacey.... Why do you feel the need to show agreement/acknowledgement after every sentence?
@aquablushgirl Well, think of it this way. If it was your show and your audience remained silent throughout thr entire thing you'd feel as if tey werent reponding or taking in what you are saying. BUT, there are smart Americans and then you have your not so smart ones.
@StaceyT08 - Oh yes, I know there are plenty of intelligent & educated Americans, but that still doesn't answer the original question. I understand that you need some audience interaction but over the past however many years a bit of clapping after something important or very funny has turned into clapping after practically every other sentence. It doesn't help the flow of the interview and I don't see why we need to validate an interviewee in this way. Let them talk. We can clap at the end.
@aquablushgirl Well, in this case don´t seems like false or pointless reactions of public, because besides we can hear a lot of natural laughters and i think that she porovokes this claps becuase the things that she does are amazing; i don´t think that at the beginnig dave kissed her hand only for nothing and at the end a lot of people outside were waiting just for see her...think about it.
@aquablushgirl Yeah we do clap at a lot. Sometimes it seems like ignorant clapping (applauding things that they shouldn't or don't know why they are), but otherwise it doesn't hurt anybody.
Because American people cheer other people's successes. All British people do is mock and ridicule people of their successes. That's why American's have their 'dream' and all British people have is their fucking miserable, pessimistic outlook on life- and this in reflected in both of our comments.
lol. so dream on! i am not British but i really wonder how you come to the conclusion that brits are jealous. besides, if you respect someone, dont interrupt him with that stupid clapping! who the hell came up with the idea of making a noise with your hands in order to express affirmation?
I wouldn't say 'jealous'; I'll say it's an extreme reluctance to show your appreciation of someone else's achievements. If someone does well, you should show your appreciation of it. But in Britain, that's less prevalent than in the US.
@aquablushgirl Idiot. They are told to clap and laugh at everything even remotely amusing. If they didn't, there would be an applause machine. There's a warm-up comedian that loosens up the audience and instructs them to emote with sound, because the microphones won't hear the smiles. It's not Americans clapping at everything, it's show business protocols. Ask the industry insiders why they get carried away with it, and stop your jingoistic assumptions about the people themselves.
@aquablushgirl Cuz they know when claping takes place. Claping in the right moment is the clue of everything you see on these shows including emotions :)
@aquablushgirl At the theater such this one there is a sign shown to the audience, written on the sign "Applause" when they turn on this sign you have to "Applause". It's stupid but I think they want the show to stay alive a bit. On the other hand I'm not sure about England if they do have such thing.
Why go back to Africa? There are millions of kids in this very country that need help Oprah, your own country, not Africa.
