The chords for the main part of the song (after the beat kicks in) are i (minor) and V7 (w/ flat 9 as far as I can tell), and the chords during the intro and much more crushed with alot of extensions, I can't work out what they are :/
All I know is that it's fit as tits, so I'll keep burning and keep listening. Just enjoy it, alot can be said for analysing the chords, sounds and features etc, but at the end of the day, if it really makes you feel something, then that's magic!
@sewilde Much more likely it's either a reference to Sherlock Holmes or some other smooth character. The something "wicked" coming this way I believe is a play on words as in the 90s "wicked" almost meant good or cool. I think there is also a suggestion that it's dark in a good way. But that's just what I think.
It is most likely a reference AND a tribute to a very talented man named Richard "Groove" Holmes.
He was a very skilled jazz organ player, famous around the 1980's. He made most of his appearances throughout New Orleans, but that had not stopped his music career from travelling further than he had.
@nickshel Wrong. You said something that I disagree with so I will sum up your entire comment with a single word. (That guy was such a dick regardless of whether he's right or not.)
I know what a chord is. But I thank you for your thoughtful definition.
What I meant was that when I first started really getting into jazz, I often felt that it sounded out of tune. But after I really started to listen to the 7, the major and minor 7, and so on... I stated to get a feel for the sound. So after years of practice on a number of different instruments (I am also a musician) I can tell you that the vocals are not off key.
Ah, Mr. Holmes. I've been expecting you...

Is the song name a reference to HH Holmes of 1800s Chicago murdering fame? Something Wicked This Way Comes....

@DJGskull You realise that made no logical sense I hope. I said "but that's just what I think" so that being wrong is technically impossible.

@TerrierBram : a chord is a chord, but there is something existing like "a typical jazz chord"

The repeated women's orgasmic cries in the track make me believe that Mr Holmes is a reference to the legendary pornographic actor John C. Holmes...
