  • my laptop when you press the power the lights are open including the num.lock and etc but the screen is black!! how can i fix it

  • i really got a question for you, but i fear it might be answered. anyways, just please know that ill make a video sometime this week. though my question is, the same has happened to me. the thing is like @FranchinoCorleone said, i also used an external monitor. it worked fine but if you moved the actual laptop the external screen will go out too. anyways so like you have to play around with the laptop moving it over and over again so it could work. just recently, all that happens is that when

  • i power on the laptop. it quickly goes off. nothing shows up on screen nothing. the green light goes on and in about a 2 seconds it quickly goes off. please help me.

  • the fan in my T40 is rubbing up against the case so its making a hell lot of noise, can i fix that with a new fan? warranty is gone btw (5 years old)

  • Interesting combination of this video with Macguyver's theme music!

  • haha... i love the mac guyver theme song

  • and the point is

  • btw... need to read the manual to see how to open the machine w/o bending everything like that. ;)

  • right, that's the way to go.

the instructions are in that manual.

  • the worst that might happen is that your graphic card die on you.

but don't panic yet. you download the latest device driver for your graphic card and install it.

  • So folks know... I had the issue and disassembled and reassembled. Worked fine for a while and then blacked out again.

Installed the "optional" embedded controller flash update and, boom, lcd restored. Have a flashlight handy and use it pointing down from the top of the screen (not at the screen) so you can see. Test it with a normal screen up to get the hang of it.

Hit "2", enter and then "Y" to flash. System will turn off when done. Power on and lcd is back on.

    Easier if it holds...

  • great work, well done!

thank you for sharing this information with the viewers.

  • embedded controller

  • lols wow. u rly should have spent a little time taking it apart, those old thinkpads are AWESOME. the keyboard pops out, then u take off the palm rest and a basel/trim piece and bam. everythings ready to be checked out. kinda looks like u F'd urs up =/

  • no time for that, man, and you don't have to open up every component to make it work.

the more you do that, the more you F-it up!

  • where is the l-shaped clip you mention located, exactly? thanks!

  • you see it from the 25-sec to 28-sec point of the video, at the top right-hand corner.

  • i have an r51... do you think the clip would be located in the same place? sorry for all the questions, thanks for your response!

  • i guess the design from the same series is quite the similar.

  • Hey MacGyver!!!

I Loved the song, don't bother about those who don't like it (They are not from the 80's), by the way this is my nickname, when I do something "different" with my computer, some of my friends call me a computer "MacGyver" (Verbalising the word)

  • right on! MacGyver doesn't need no fancy gadget but only simple improvised tool to get the job done.

it's the brainwork that counts. so, carry on with something different that makes the difference from the rest.

  • lol haha first part of the music. That's where Ja rule stole his beat from.

  • That music was painful.

  • ouch!

  • my screen won't come on

  • use an external monitor screen to check out the problem.

  • How do i use an external monitor

    with my thinkpad.

  • plug in the external monitor into the socket connector at the back of your Thinkpad.

use your instruction manual for more information.

  • Thank you

  • IBM thinkpad:-)kocham swój laptop:-)
