Good vid, but I wish that Flex track would have been used as it's more of a challenge to lay. The one-piece Code 100 EZ Track is easier to install, but imho, being it just doesn't look as realistic as the Atlas, Peco, or Shinohara Code-83 rail.
Im trying to do this same layout and Im trying to use cork roadbed, Ive marked where the track goes and after glueing some roadbed the track doesnt seem to match back up where it was supposed to go, maybe I should just get easy track. Im not sure its going to look right with me trying to "bend" the track into place.
Do you know if there is an easy/practical way to transition from Bachman EZ Track on a main line to flex track on spurs? Prototype railroads have well-ballasted main lines (like EZ Track)and minimally-ballasted spurs (like flex track). I'm trying to re-create that scenario without using ballast material.
how many pieces of flex track would i need to make this layout

In the bill of materials, it calls for 2 - 3" straights. however the video does not show them being used. Are they really necessary?

They are used at the mine

WELL ACLtony you can get roadbed and place it over the ez train base so it can look realistic.

Try looking at your book store and finding, "Basic Trackwork For Model Railroaders"
