@patrickmoler I was gonna say... that belt looks like it's seen better days, lol. But I remember that many parts of the belt had been replaced, including the domed globe, and they put onyx panels on the sides where it was originally only black paint.

damn i miss these days, u had some truly hot territories back then, florida, mid-atlantic, st. louis, georgia, mid-south ... the nwa needs 2 look back 2 this era & use it as a blueprint 4 what they want 2 accomplish 2day, it's almost sad watching this bcuz of what wrestling is 2day, sad ...
Imagine an Oklahoma wrestling fan's mark-like hatred at viewing all this if YouTube and the Internet had been around back then: "LOL @ 5:24. Aww, he dumbstruck he can't bring the gold home to Mama-rillo, Texas first. Hey, Cherub Face, you be lucky Brisco didn't choose OKLAHOMA. Hun, you wouldn't even get outta 'ere alive!"
Same wrestling fan viewing Terry Funk vs. Harley Race from February 1977 on YouTube: "Ding-dong, yer gold is gone!"
Thanks for posting this. If anyone can post more of the 24/7 series"The Film Room With Gordon Solie" videos please do! It has alot of rare/unseen Florida footage.
Brisco mentions several times especially on the History of World Title DVD that he was tired of being champ and all the travel and he was happy to drop the title on to Terry. Funny because Terry Funk felt the same and only wanted to be champ for a year or little more as the NWA Champ schedule was insane. He got his wish in Feb 1977 when he dropped the belt to Harley Race. That tells you how tough and good Race and Flair were for NWA to keep the belt on them for the length of time they did.
@mastermold2011: December 10, 1975. Terry Funk would win a World Heavyweight Title two more times. He defeated Jerry Lawler for the USWA Unified World Heavyweight Title on November 5, 1990, and defeated Raven for the ECW World Heavyweight Title on April 13, 1997.
Why was it a one fall match?

Folks, wrestling doesn't get better. WWE/TNA have no clue. Also, Gordon Solie, The Dean of Wrestling!

Anyone else notice Funk pop the ref in the nose after the 3 count? Talk about a thankless job! LOL

Great match. Thank you for posting. As has been said, Jack was tired of all the travel and was ready to drop the title to Terry.
It is great to see the great Gordon Solie calling the match highlights as well as interviewing both legends.

Love it, especially the interview with Funk, which I hadn't seen before.
I still grimace when the ref gets his nose broken right after the three count.
