Hello! This was an awesome stretch of the AT! If you start training yourself in advance I think you will be fine. When we started section hiking several years ago, hiking with a pack was our biggest challenge.Go as light as you can....25 lbs max! Also, for your first AT trip, plan your mileage each day according to what your group can handle. As far as food goes: Ramon Noodles, Snickers, Trail Mix, Beef Jerkey, and dehydrated meals. There are water sources along the trail aka streams...
Very cool video. We're wanting sooo bad to do the same leg you did. 4 of us are planning to do it early next fall. We don't have any REAL hiking experience, so we're doing an overnighter in a month to try it out. We hear that the leg you did is pretty strenuous, do you agree? I'd love to know what you took for food and how you managed your water.
My husband and I usually have (1) 32 ounce water bottle and (1) 20 ounce bottle to refill.

I thought I was the only person to be short of breath on the Springer ascent.
