Yep, you could be 14, turning 15, back then - Dominique was actually 14 during the games, as were others such as Kerri Strug in 1992 and Nadia Comaneci in 1976. They changed the limit after this due to concerns about injuries, etc, on atheltes that were really too young.

Yea I heard that too, she ultimately emancipated herself from her parents due to her father mismanaging all her finances she earned throughout her olympic career, thats pretty sad.

Okay, she fell in the EF - not the TF! We still won the gold medal for the team. And what do you mean she cost us a medal? Shannon won that one for us! Gold on beam. In all likelihood Domi would not have medaled silver or bronze anyway, even without the fall - silver at Worlds was amazing, but not likely to repeat. And she was 14 years old! It's lucky she didn't suffer a head injury! And she continued that routine like a champ. It's totally uncalled for to insult her like that.

Someone (it was spammed) made a mean comment about how she cost us a medal with the fall she took on beam, which made no sense since that was in Event Finals and Shannon won that gold medal. And even with her falls on vault, America had cinched the gold even before Kerri's (awesome) one-footed landing. :)

It's still there, and it's considered the largest gym in the country, but you don't hear that much about it. This is an interesting video; it seems so rehearsed, especially with the part about her building a Church. That was so random and odd. It's funny to hear her talk about her gymnastics past now, and how brainwashed she was back then.

@jaszmina9 Bella sold his Houston gym as he was solely going to be based at the Ranch as he had retired after 1996. He coached Domi until she could find a new gym or until hers was built.

Do you mean about the gym? Well, this was 1997, obviously post-Olympics, and the money that was earned by Dominique was used to build it...but later, there was a huge legal dispute between Domi and her father about his squandering of her money, on this - more than she thought - and on other things that she hadn't wanted. Other issues were also brought up about his abusive, violent nature, and in 1998 she was legally "divorced" from her parents. Everything was resolved later, though. :D Just sad!

Looking back you could see how reluctant she was when talking about how she "helped her parents" build the gym, but she knew she paid for all of it. Such a shame.

Oh I know...it was so terrible for Dominique to have to go through that. :( But she turned out a strong woman, and her relationship with her parents, according to her, is better now than it ever was. :) Thanks for the comment!
