  • how do u make them?

  • @Berryflowers

I have a video showing how i make them. there is also another video on youtube showing how to make them which is how i first started, i think it is on my favorite videos on my page.

  • wow your really clever. You dont find them to bulky for bubs?

  • @elesha76 Yes i did but i loved the big cloth butt, she was easier to hold, now i have other less bulky ways of cloth nappying

  • Grace! This is a great video, you have a great set up. I was wondering how you did the pul bin - I have one of those bins lying around, perfect! I'll have to get sewing. I have sent this on to a few friends who are interested in cloth nappying. Thanks so much!

  • Hey there,

I actually bought the PUL liner for the bin, I'll have to see what make it was, I ended up buying one because it is alot of PUL material to buy (and PUL isn't cheap). I can't wait to get sewing with you, it'll be fun. I'm glad it will help your friends too, I do need to make a new video on where our cloth nappy journey is going now.

  • well Joshua is LOVING his cloth bums. I have two blue gingham wraps and then four white ones (plain). However I am still interested in some funkier wraps...

As for the cloth wipes. I too am using cut up and sewn face cloths but I am making my own solution currently. I cannot get hold of the monkey doodlez wipe cubes...

    where did you get them?

  • Hi, really helpful video :)

Baby due in a few months, haven't a clue where to start :$

It would be fantastic if you could list all i need to start off with, and recommend a brand/kit.

There are so many brands and parts to all this......please help!!!!! :)

    Gem

  • It all depends on what type of cloth nappy system you are wanting to use. The is the old terry flat with a cover, or the new all in ones that are shaped like a disposable and don't require a waterproof cover. The all in ones are alot more expensive, about $25-$30 each nappy, whereas the flat is about $25 for 12. You'd need about 24 flats and 4 covers in each size (small, medium and large) The covers I have are $12 each (not plastic but PUL which is breathable). PM me if u want to know more info.

  • Thanks for a fantastic and very helpful video. I have an 11 week old and a 3 yr old both in nappies and have been considering flat terries for a while, I'm definately going to buy some now !

Are you able to show another video demonstrating how to pin different folds on ( i did once use snappis years ago on a friends baby but hated them so I was planning on using pins).

If you can show how to put them on an older toddler that would be a great help too !

    Thanks :-)

  • Did I not reply to your comment?? I'm so sorry if I didn't, have you got the terry squares yet? I am now using a differnt fold that works on Lacey now (as she is a bit bigger now) I will try and make a video showing the new fold I use and how to snappi it, I do love snappi's, I thought I'd use pins but she just moves too much.

  • I have just ordered all my cloth nappies from lollipop uk... I am however looking to get some funky wraps other than just the plain colours. I adore the cow print and giraffe wrap you made. If you ever fancy earing some cash, let me know and I'd be happy to order some from you!!!

  • They are very cute aren't they, I will let you know. Those ones are pocket nappies and I am practicing the covers/wraps. When I am happy with the finished product I will let you know.

  • grace i think these are wonderful. you should start your own website and sell these things! i would buy them from you. they look too cute. we arent pregnant yet, but plan on using cloth when the time comes, (hopefully soon).one question though, do you find it hard to wash poop out? does it stain the cloth? thanks for all the info.

  • Thank you. Well nb poo is very runny and yellow, yes it can stain a little, it does depend on the fabric. flannel and terry stain sometimes but microfleece doesn't at all. if the nappy does get bad then i'd soak it by itself before a wash.

  • thanks for the info grace. concerning the fabric is there one better than another or is it just personal preference?

  • Fabric for what? The nappy or cover? Some are more absorbant than others and some keep the moisture away from babys bum.

  • the nappy :)

  • Well yeh they are different in absorbency and thickness. Mostly materials used are flannel, terry toweling, bamboo, microfibre and some others I can't think of.

  • Hey Grace...where can I buy the nappy cubes from to make my own wipes?

    =)

  • I PM'd you with the details, YT won't let me put it in the comments

  • Buy, they are about $25 for 12.

  • I could never get my partner to do cloth nappys. Wish he would lol

  • My husband doesn't either. He thinks it is "too hard" its not, he just doesn't like changing nappies. I'd say I change 99.5% of the nappies anyway.

  • Hi Grace great video! How do you go with the cloth nappies when you go out with Lacey?

  • Yeh fine, they do take up alot of bag (compared with disposables) but I don't find it too hard. I take 1 or 2 PUL (waterproof) bags that I have to put the dirty nappies in and when I get home I empty the bags into the nappy bin.

  • Oh and the star of the show looked gorgeous.....

  • thanks, she is, i love her very much

  • Thanks for nappy video. Am now 32 weeks. I have bought some flat cloth nappies but thought I would just use them to wipe up sick and stuff. I had planned on using face cloths as wipes but hadn't seen the wipe solution before..... where did you get that? I have bought a pea pod all in one nappy but they are sized small, medium and large so might be expensive buying enough in each size. & I found another good one that is one size fits all by baby e that needs a pul cover. I have more ????'s

  • Awesome idea for a video! Very handy info, loved the home made wipes, where do you get those cubes from??

  • I bought them from an online store. The cubes are made by monkey doodlez.

  • id luv 2 see how u made the nappies!!!! maybe you could film making one??? x

  • Okay I might try

  • Thank you so much for this video! I'm expecting in June and have decided on doing cloth nappies. The wipes was a GREAT idea too! How do you make your own covers? Did you make your own pattern or did you find one? Where did you find the cubes for the wipes? Thank you, thank you, thank you, Grace!

  • Nuts! I replied to your comment earlier today with info and it hasn't appeared. I will PM you soon.

  • Lacy is so pretty! Gettin so big! And I want to say my you are quite crafty!! We're going to be switching to cloth diapers also :)

  • Great, well if you need any advice or questions feel free, I am full of information :D

  • I never knew there were cubes to make your own cloth wipes! I dont think i could handle doing cloth diapers but the cloth wipes are a great idea for anyone to save money! Thanks so much!

  • No worries, yeh it is a good idea (not my idea but a good one at that)

  • Great ideas!! I never thought of homemade wipes! AWESOME!! Do you rinse them out in the sink afterwards or soak them??

  • I just put them in the wash with the cloth nappies. So I put them in the dirty nappy bin and they go through the wash every couple of days. Hope that made sense.

  • I never had much success with the "snappy".

  • They work VERy well with the terry towelling material, awful with flannel and okay with prefolds.

  • i want to know hwta happens to the nappy's that are dirty where do you put them ? do you wash them? id the a company that washes them for you ?

  • I put them in that bin I showed at the beginning of the video and then I do a load of nappies every 2-3 days. There is no need to soak, I use the "dry pail" method. I put them through the rinse cycle first, then a normal wash with half the amount of detergent. You can get companies that wash them for you but they are not your nappies, they are the companies.

  • Thanks for makeing this vid, I want to start useing cloth diapers when Malia is born and I don't know much about them, Which ones do u recommend and at what age should I start. Also I do not have a washer and dryer at home so how many should I buy? We go to the laundrymat once a week. The only thing I don't like is how bulky they are do you know of any that are less bulky? Also I've never seen that cube thing to make your own wipes do u know where I can get it I live in New York.

  • Hi there, I started Lacey on cloth when she was about 1 month old I think. I tried them eariler & was astounded at how big they were (but next baby I will start from birth). I know some laundromats won't let u wash nappies so check that you will be allowed to. U could use a nappy wash service where they take your dirty ones & replace them with clean ones 2-3 times a week. If yu dont like the bulk I would suggest going with a all-in-one fitted (no cover required) they are similar to disposables

  • Thank you. You've really helped me.

  • wow ur dedicated!! i would never have the patience or the time to use cloth diapers!! but its awesome that your able to!! Do u ever have problems fitting lacey's clothes over the bulgy cloth diapers??

  • Yes I do! She is always in the next size up for her age as they don't make any clothes anymore (well here in Aus anyway) that accomodate a big cloth bum.
