@gcbzzzz We only have 10 rotational voxels, so we are very limited to what can be projected. It happens that spheres are rotationally very simple, that's why we started with a sphere, but we also tried simple asymmetric things like cones, cubes, and objects with holes.
/. neat. i'd imagine all the people who thumbed this down or left a demeaning comment don't comprehend what you've demonstrated. thanks for sharing. /.
I would very much like to see a video that is recorded in HD that we can actually see what the hell is going on, because as it stands this looks like a smoky mess with lasers in it.
@victorng Right, the contrast and residuals we have right now is very bad. But increasing the number of projectors makes each individual ray less visible, and after 100 projectors, the rays start becoming so dim as they are not visible at all.
Brilliant simplicity, just like the way mama used to make! But on a more serious note, it is indeed a very intriguing concept, it works well without conjuring up hundred thousand dollars aparatus, and they Shared with everyone? So I guess corporate people didn't like it?
@abreups He is experimenting, creating, learning, and sending a positive message! It's also a proof of concept, saying "Hey, if I can do this, imaging what some one with money and a team of people could do!". HAARP.
Surely large numbers of pico projectors linked with relatively simple spatial awareness software should be straightforward? I would have thought that the difficult part will be producing in invisible medium to onto which you project the light I stead of opaque smoke...I suppose you could use thousands of highly focused light sources that would act as sub pixels that project straight lines of light that intersect with one another to form a bright point of light in space which would act as a sing

Cool Idea, just subscribed your blog ;D Pitty so many youtubers don't get it or are just trolling around

That looks neat. Doesn't really show up very well on video though. I imagine it would be better in person.

I didn't see any sphere... It's just a lot of smoke, and projectors acting like lasers.

The projector beam edges also interact with the smoke, distracting from the actual 3d projection being created.

@phrenzy1 The projection-slice theorem is the proof, that just using a larger number of projections is all that is needed!
volumetricprojection 3 months ago
What if it's a process like silk screening?
You need a catalyst like smoke because you've only got one layer.
What if you added another group of projectors or some kind of focused light (lasers, perhaps) that gave you a better base to paint on?
