Everyone has said give it up youll never made it and i said one day ill prove you wrong this will be my second time going for the coast gaurd , wish me luck!!!
Just wanted to say this it took the Coast Guard 60 years to give to my dad his rank to motor machinist mate 1st class and his purple heart for his service durning WW2 while on a combat patrol in the North Atlantic hunting subs. He served from jan 17 1942 to dec 20th 1943 when a german U boat hit his ship in the engine room , my dad saved his ship and the crew, while all the time being injured and traped in the engine room.
good luck in October. Keep your head on straight. Try to multi-task as your doing pushups, and remember. No matter how bad it may seem, no matter how stressful it can be, it's so you earn that life-ring. It's all worth it in the end.
Yeah, thanks, Coasties. Thanks for being unprofessional and obstructive. Thanks for disrespecting and impeding people who've been on the water since you were learning which end was the bow up in Castine, or wherever the hell you assholes come from.
I just love it when ignorant idiots talk smack about this nations second oldest service and first sea going service. Pick up a history book idiot, before you start spouting off who has been on the water the longest. The USCG has been on the water since 1790 idiot.
@billdo76 And my service has been in the fight since 12 June 1775 , and on the water for more than a century before that. But that's not important -- I'm talking about individuals with little or no experience in or around the commercial maritime industry, and an organization that punishes us for trying to make a living on the water.
@Nupetiet Well if you are making a living on the water then you should be both following the CFR's and International laws. Coasties don't make the laws, they just enforce them. They don't punish those that abide by the laws. As Jim Carrey says "Stop breaking the law asshole!!"
@billdo76 Oh, breaking the law isn't the issue. Being pushed around, disrespected, and delayed is the issue. We wait months for the NMC to process our paperwork so we can sail and put food on the table. An AB friend of mine waited almost an entire year for his new Z-card to arrive, and couldn't do his job until they did. Junior Petty Officers come onto our ships to sneer at us and tell 20-year Chiefs and Captains that they don't like the way we do things -- within the law. It's absurd
it's now my goal as a retired member to wake all these "kiddies" in college up to what we do. i wear my jacket with my unit patches with pride all the time. I wear my uniform on memorial day and veteran's day and 9/11... you should see their faces! All three are always around the beginning of a semester. yep "kiddies" that's why this "old man" is still in school.
And you know what? It's my badge of honor. I'm Semper Pi
Once a Coastie. always a Coastie. My old man was CG in ww2 and served with pride. I enlisted and served in Viet Nam. We will always take care of our own because nobody ever cared about us.
I can't enlist yet, i'm only 16, but I'm enlisting in Sea Cadets meanwhile, so I can get a taste of it, I'll be enlisting after high school, can't wait, thanks for the emboldening video.
hooah mainly started with the Marines I didn,t know the Army was using their version till my son entered in 02. the Marine version evolved from a Crusader version who copied it from the Arabs who dispatched you to Allah's care with a somewhat similar cadence of words.
While your fighting in Iraq, we protect your fucking country and protect YOUR family from enemies. We need Coasties, fool. I dont go around bein like, "Fuckin Jarheads need to grow the fuck up" because I have respect for my fellow branches. You seriously need to get the pugil stick outta your ass that was shoved up there during basic.
Steven6208: You must forgive Marine enlistees as out of boot camp they have been severly tramatized another term is "Brainwashed" thus their not thinking correctly.Coasties, Navy and Airforce are treated better than that.
I believe you need to learn your shit before you go and talk it. I am a coastie and we DO have weapons and we save lives instead of taking them. We do more than you think and we have coasties in Iraq and Afganistan. We also patrol the waters enforcing our laws and taking down piracy. Try being a Coastie and going through boot camp and tell me how "easy" it was, douche.
Marinecorp812: Your no marine but a 16 yo brat who don't know shit. When you know something correct come back and talk. Otherwise stay the fuck off this site.
American citizens are American interests. As is American safety.
But, just to make a distinction. The Marine Corps has not DIRECTLY defended American citizens in centuries. They have defended American interests abroad dozens of times, quite excellently.
You need to brush up on your Marine Corps history. The Coast Guard was instrumental in the island hopping campaigns of WW2.
Also, they are ARMED. With Weapons. And are a Force. That protects the United States. You protect United States interests, and we protect the states itself.
so should my kid go to the 1 week AIM coast guard academy week? You gotta submit SAT scores and transcript, good grief. 10 min 1.5 mile and 35 pushup average for cadets.
Thank you so much for this video. Our 18-yr-son is at Cape May right now, miss him SO much, and YES, what you said is 1000% CORRECT!praying for all armed forces. Beannacht liat Diat (Irish 4 God bless you). Sharing this to my new friend Coastie mom, her boy with mine. Tk you so much, all of you.
This makes me so very proud. My father was in the United States Coast Guard, he retired from it with 20 years service. He missed a lot of me being a baby because of his service.
He ended up being a Chief Petty Officer and he was always so handsome in his uniform. This makes me cry, I don't feel like this branch gets enough recognition. A friend of mine never gets to see her brother because of his service in the U.S. Coast Guard.
I'm a Coastie brat too. I might go into the Navy just because I really want to go to Notre Dame and if I can get a NROTC scholarship to pay for it. But I'd really love to be in the Coast Guard, much more rewarding to save a life than take one.
My Dad was a Coast Guardsman and I was a CG "brat". He was on the Esconaba and the Kukui, then went into intelligence for CG and I married an CG "airman" who was a navigator on the C-130 Hurky birds.....was also with the Commondant of CG's flight crew outta DC for awhile. This was a great video and great song with it too. Thanks. And the CG's birthday is coming up on Aug 4th.
coast guard puts lives on the line 24/7 365...no other military can say that. no disrespect but if we arent in time of war, the other branches dont see the same amount of action. coast guard kicks ass and its becoming more apparent through shows like deadliest catch that show exactly how dangerous waters can be.
The USCG is its own branch of the military. They are responsible for defending America's coastlines. They also keep watch over NAVY ships when they are in port at home or abroad. There are a lot of people that put down the USCG because they don't think it is the "real military" but those are the people that don't have the brass to serve in any branch so we disregard them.
3 more years til I can enlist with the USCG. Can't wait to serve.
Hey I love this video. I am acually in one of the pick in this. I was there on 9-11 and the pick really touched me. I spent 6 years in the coast guard and I miss every bit of it now. HOORA and Semper Paratus to all the men and women of the real work force of the United States.
Thank you...My daughter is a Coastie stationed at USCG Station Port Canaveral...I am so proud of her and all that lay it down everyday....GO COASTIES!!!!
The Coast Guard is always left out. I dated a Coastie for two years, and I realize that they are just as much a part of the Armed Forces as the Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marines.
No one ever really thinks about the Coast Guard until they need help.
Thanks so much to everyone who serves or ever served in the Coast Guard or Coast Guard Reserves.
i really love this song...great video! this is gonna make me sound dumb, but i think its so great the way "the guardian" presented the USCG. it really respects and salutes the courage and discipline of those men and women....great job!
