The driver probably got cited with a lane viloation, but i wouldn't be surprised if the OP (Origional Poster) was cited for failure to control. In my mind, it's payback for the many cars that cut off semi trucks and then jam on their brakes in front of the semi expecting the semi to break and stop on a dime.

Well, from what I can see, your in the trucks blindspot and he can't see you. I really wish people would pay more attention to semi trucks because there bigger and can't see the smaller cars like the one you have. Just lucky that you didn't go under the trailer and get hit by the tandems.

So if I buy a bigger vehicle then the truck then I have the right of way no matter what? Plain and simple, the car is going around the semi and the semi didn't see him, no arguments Where you get the right of way bullshit is beyond me. Do you need a big truck to have right of way, NO. Did the driver see him, probably not. If he would have rookie mirrors (Mirrors that are attached to your fender/hood) then he would of seen the car better. Theres something called HUMAN ERROR, check into that.

You must be blind.... the car did not go around the truck... the car was passing the truck on the left lane and the car was always on the left lane.... so what are you saying going around? @tomtdot79 It came to me, were bickering over a dashcam video of a truck cutting off a car, and no one really cares because it happens everyday in almost every person's life when on the highway. I'm not a truck driver, ain't old enough to drive. Trucks sometimes need to take up both lanes of travel, but thats for wide loads or mis-judgement.

@7477238 I've been in an accident and it sucked. A Bronco ran a stop sign and hit my dad's Cavalier and went up and over the hood, and even through the windshield. I see where your coming from in your other comment adn I feel bad for you because of you being paralyzed. My sister's car was totaled, so was my dad's old Camero. I don't like to get into arguments with people but stuff happens. Yet again,I feel sorry for you from your accident, adn that one accident with my dad changed my life.

I said the fucker who crashed into me was beaten down into paralysis by 3 of my family members later on down the line in an act of revenge. My left arm won't be the same, I had to go back to school because I could no longer work in construction. Because my career had to be changed I made sure that fucker who crashed into me and his family would live a lifetime of pain and suffering. It pays to have strong people in your family.

@SintaxOne Yeah especially in a situation like that where the trucker is approaching a slow car in the other lane, I'd like to think I would've noticed that and gunned it to get away just in case, or I may have seen it coming farther back and passed him quickly from the beginning. Always wary of big trucks though, it's a good habit.

I have never understood the casual passing of another vehicle instead of stepping on it and making sure to clear the blind spot asap. Whenever I pass someone I do it swiftly as possible, if I'm ever in someone's blind I move through it fast as possible and I never ride slow nor pass as slow as this guy tried. He may have been legally right, but vs a semi he wasn't commonsense right.

@MrWirelesscaller Play it back, he was passing at a pretty good pace, it seems like it was strictly negligence on the truckers part, he should've easily been able to see that car. Those mirrors are designed to see where he was, it's not until right behind the truck driver's window that there is a potential blind spot on a flat mirror like that, this driver never got to that point.

Plus that's an awfully quick lane change for a big rig to be making (especially without checking the side view)

My father once witnessed an accident and stopped to help, as the accident was in a blind spot, a car from the other direction was coming at a fast speed and did not stop in time, therefore he crashed his car to the victim's car and it flipped over, killing both my dad and the victim of the first crash, to this day I believe that my father should not have died there, but whats done has been done, R.I.P dad, love you forever.

There is an old trucker's saying, which is: "Always get a piece of them." It was meant to reminder drivers to 'get some proof ' that they were 'cut off ' or otherwise forced into a bad situation by another driver by making sure that they at least damaged the other vehicle. These new 'dash cams' are great and hopefully will eliminate the need for the fore mentioned action, but remember, visibility is limited by rain, snow and fog!

@kjbrimm As far as I can tell, the trucker didn't signal until they began the lane change at 0:06. It was a very fast lane change too. I didn't see any opportunity to react and back off. However, you can sort of predict that they want to change lanes by how close they are following the car in front of them and the fact that they start braking. Hard to notice unless you are looking directly at the truck.
