Windows 9x is operating systems such as Windows 95, 98, 98SE, and Windows ME.

NT is operating systems such as Windows NT 3.51, Windows NT Workstation 4.0, Windows 2000, Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7. Personally i like Windows ME much better than 98SE and 98FE.

Okay, so i dont know why people complain about operating systems all the time. Im 14 years old and i've used from Windows 95 - Windows 7 and i've used Mac OSx Snow Lepard - Mac OSx Lion

I like them all... Personally im an apple supporter, and at my old High School we had Macbook Airs (First high school in the world to get the product! [Owensboro High School]) but then i was forced to transfered and so now i have a Lenovo Thinkpad x120e with Windows 7.

When people start using Windows, they'll first expiriment with basic systems. As they progress, they start coming in more advanced things (in this case 9X, THEN NT) This proves that no system is perfect. Sure XP was vulnerable back then, however Microsoft saw us all complaining, and what do we get? XP SP2: A much better version compared to SP1 imo. Vista was a nightmare, although 2 years later, Microsoft made Windows 7.

Conclusion: No system is perfect. They all have pros and cons :)

Weird, I still have a eMachines desktop computer running Windows M.E. that my dad got for my family in 2000. It boots up very slow, runs slow, and it makes sounds when it thinks. @11mrewan Actually, Windows Me and 2000 are a completely different operating system. Me is built on the windows 9x DOS based platform, and 2000 is built on the NT platform. Windows Me was targeted at home users, and had multimedia features like movie maker. Just because the two look exactly the same doesn't mean they are exactly the same.

The issue is they make software more and more bloated. There is no reason to do this. Windows 2000 imo was the best OS ever. They should have sticked with that model. Just add support for new stuff (hardware technologies, software etc) - don't make it bigger and slower, just update it. that's it.

Windows 7 is ok but I still kinda like windows xp better. Like many people.

I actually had a few problems with it. I had a few camera problems because every time I plugged the camera in nothing happened. I went to look for a camera wizard (like in windows xp) but there was none to be found.

I had to manually open up every single one of the images in a folder just to see which one to copy. (There are hundreds of images).

Windows me won because it uses FAT32 filesystem, while the XP computer uses NTFS, FAT32 can only store 4GB size of a file if i can remember. NTFS - Windows 2000/XP/Vista/Windows 7 would start slower because the file system is better
