Took me a while but.... I now have a treepod, a PVC camera mount (the original one) and a PVC monopod. Pretty cool items. The tree pod makes an awesome tabletop/dashboard pod too. Thanks Paco!
BRILL-I-ANT. Paco, you are crazy but so very clever - and inspiring! Keep up the good work and keep inventing. I LOL at the nerdy things you do. Man, you are a breath of fresh air.
That's a good question. My camera weighs next to nothing, so I don't know how much it would support. My suggestion would be to build one and find out. If you send me a heavy (expensive) camera, I'll be glad to test it for you :-)
You used a 1/4" -20 thread bolt for the mounting, right? I use something very similar for mine but use heavy gauge wire to wrap around branches instead. I'm just wanting to make sure the thread works for more than just my camera.
The heavy gauge wire sounds like a very good, very compact design. Do you ever have problem getting the camera completely vertical? I tried a very basic version of what I have now, but the entire thing kept shifting once I put the camera on and would tilt the image.
I love this idea Paco. I do alot of filming and carrying a tripod is cumbersum. I will make one of these. With the 3 T pieces. If you run a piece of pipe right through them you will also be able to move the center T giving you more movements. Fantastic design.
Thanks, Sean. Actually, with the Ts being connected with just short sections of PVC pipe, the center T does move. If you want to use the Treepod on a horizontal branch, you actually position the middle T 90 degrees from the arms.
Very cool idea Paco :o)

I was wondering, what weight does it support as is, with out U bends starts to slip out of line by pure gravity ?
In other words how heavy can my cam be ?

Not so much, but on pretty windy days it tends to wobble a bit unless you really cinch it down.
