WWE was better then ROH, is not mind boggling in any sense, what ROH done this year? same three guys main event feuds are lame Davey one worst ROH title run in the history of the company. wwe hd several good ppv this years, though ruined punk angle was great till September. wwe picking bck up since end of S.S tlc was good, there buliding Cody, DOlph, Daniel won the belt. cm punk the champ how it the same? look at all there champ Daniel on raw got victroy his team SD making adr tap out
I'd have to say that overall ROH has been better but in terms of getting me invested and caring what happens, WWE has done a better job. Sure they've messed it up a few times too but it is what it is.
@LV5454 I've enjoyed Danielson's story arch. He won MITB as an underdog, announced that he'd cash in at WM, went on a losing streak, and as a result realized that his opportunity was NOW. Then, became world champ. Big step from what he was doing earlier this year. He'll most likely be a big part of WM, when he was in a dark match at WM27. Same with Punk. In May he was a midcard hell. Now he's heir apparent to the biggest spot in the company.
@LV5454 You haven't seen anything change? Punk, Danielson, Ryder, Phoenix, Rhodes, and Air Boom are the champs. Cena was left off of a PPV! Punk is becoming the face of the company. How can you look at WWE in May, then look at it today and say it's exactly the same? Biased much?
@Ludeboi titles dont mean anything still. ppv build up still the same. the fact that wwe has things that were hot and didnt capatlize on it like it should have still exist. stupid storylines, still the same. overall nothing has changed. ok, so danielson is champ, what have they done to build him up or even follow up with ppl like pheonix and air boom? not shit. overall nothing has changed.
PWG has been better then most. But between the two, WWE has been a little better. Imo, ROH has really only had Edwards/Richards storyline, Steen's return and ANX/Briscoe feud while WWE has had the Nash/HHH feud witch hasn't been great but something different. Punk's storyline, HHH/Taker feud from earlier this year. Ziggler's push, Punk/Orton, Christian and Orton's feud, Henry/Show's feud. But jmo
@ClutchKiller1 Ah, I was just about to bring up PWG :D Every card this year has felt like a must see to me, and not one disappointed so far. PWG kicked some major ass this year.
@Ludeboi overall i havent seen nothing change. have there been some things here and there that i apreciate? sure, but at the same time it doesnt make me wanna watch raw or smackdown. so i stand by what i said.
i tried to watch ROH saw some good wrestling but its just wrestling i need more story than wrestling even tho i did enjoy the wrestling problem its just not enough story telling for me and the production could be a little bit better but i don't think roh can be compared to wwe as bad as the wwe have been i think people watch for the hope of something good happening and once in awhile they give it to you but ROH i just think i need to watch it a little bit more i just need more from it.
I agree with the fact WWE loves to drop the ball or ruin their own builds/stroylines. I would figure a company that has been around for 40 years it would know how to properly handle things. Do they just think the fans don't want involving or long built up feuds. I wished they'd released Beth & Natalya for their own good, it must be depressing to not be able to showcase your skills.
Daniel Bryan was used to advance fueds of Sin Cara vs. Sin Cara, Wade Barrett vs. Randy Orton, and Cody Rhodes vs. Booker T. Also Daniel Bryan lost alot of matches and was only booked on 3 PPVs this year. Then all of a sudden he wins the World Championship and we are suppose to believe it. I mean im happy he won the title but we all know what happens when WWE hotshots someone to a world championship.
WWE just have washed up story lines, weak ass in right product from the wwe, Roh have good in ring product, when it comes to wrestling, but Roh needs to work on telling better stories, also needs to work on selling the moves in Roh. But I expect more out of WWE because its a billion dollar company, their entertainment value in the WWE seems like a low budget movie at this point.
Great response, LV. You're opinions are not uncalled for. I'm not exactly sure myself how to compare WWE and ROH this year. It's WWE's highs and lows vs. ROH's lesser variations, and that's a hard thing to judge.
So in conclusion... both companies have their strengths and downfalls. I think they could've both done better. Was one better than the other? That depends on your view of the situation, and most people who debate about this will be biased toward one company because they only watch the one consistently. But like I said early.... At least they aren't TNA! LOL!
This has been ThatPuroGuy's view of the WWE/ROH "Who had a better year?" debate. ;)
ROH has been a bit on the weak side overall, but the wrestling has been spot on all year. ROH television has provided me with some great matches to watch in my downtime and for that I am grateful. The PPVs have been wonderful and I have the majority of them on DVD. That being said, other than this Steen returning storyline... I can't really think of one that has gotten me excited. Richards/Edwards is decent at best for me. The inclusion of Dan Severn honestly hurt that storyline IMO.
Might as well put my bit out there for fun. I think WWE has been better this year than recently. Guys like CM Punk, Alberto Del Rio, Daniel Bryan, Cody Rhodes, and Dolph Ziggler have impressed me in the ring. They've had some fun nostalgia moments with Kane donning a mask again, Road Dogg appearing, etc. (Those two are fresh on my mind is why I'm listing them). Yeah, they could be better, but WWE was quite satisfying this year. As for ROH... let me post a second comment :)
You are entitled to your opinon and respect it, however I don't think 2011 was entirely bad for WWE. Don't get me wrong it wasn't a perfect year for them either, but when has any wrestling company no matter who it is ever had a 100% perfect year I will just be glad when the next 2 weeks come and go and 2012 begins with a clean slate for all of them.
@DreDaDon16 PWG has put out some real quality stuff this year. Waiting for Fear to be released. Young Bucks vs Appetite for Destruction awwwwww hell yeah!
roh probably slightly better this year than wwe , but that is not saying much about pro wrestling as a whole. pro wrestling this year has been stagnant. 2011 as roh's worst year??? Hmm i would say this has not been the strongest year in roh history, they have not been bad and they have not good just somewhere in the middle , i think 2005-2006 was a stronger year for roh.
If you had to rank WWE's recent years (2011, 2010 & 2009), how would you rank them?
I'd rank them 1)2011 2)2010 3)2009 (No I'm not expecting you share the same opinion as me lol). 2009...damn that was the worst year of WWE since I've been watching it in 1997. Yucky year 2009 was, only thing that was memorable for me was Smackdown coming out on-top in the draft with Smackdown being hot in the Spring & Summer (Y2K, Mysterio, Morrison etc)
@LV5454 Raw was so horrible that year as well as several ppvs Smackdown(which was great for 6 months) couldn't make up for it. Don't wanna make 10 paragraphs but it was that bad from Mania 25 till the end of 09.
Overall wrestling has been bad this year. Nothing has been really memorable except the Cena/Rock thing. Other than that wrestling sucks this year. I was never really high on this CM Punk even when it was hot around the Summer because I knew WWE would screw it up somehow and shows, hence the ratings. CM Punk just can't appeal to casual fans.
If you can't make me care about your product, you can have all the five star classics in the world, it won't do a damn thing. I'm not in a hurry to view the next ROH show, but I make sure I'm home at 8 PM to watch RAW.
I agree with Sander Robins. ROH was about to make me a fan, but I think the company just could not capitalize on the opportunity to do so and get me emotionally invested. It has good wrestling, but ... that's it. Other than Kevin Steen, Generico, World's Greatest tag team, and Davey Richards, what other reason should I watch ROH? Cause it's an alternate? So is Chikara and, honestly, I'd rather settle for Chikara as an alternate than ROH. Sorry.
ROH has been a complete disappointment in 2011 and that's a fact. It ended 2010 with FABULOUS PPV in Final Battle, but ever since they, they've honestly failed to capitalize on the momentum. Granted, WWE has failed on more occassions too, but here is the thing .... more people care about WWE than ROH. That's a fact. For anyone to say people care more about ROH than WWE is being delusional. Does ROH have better matches than WWE? That's true. Do I care that they do? No. That's the problem.
CM Punk's WHITE t-shirt is kinda ironic or symbolism lol...ever since he debut it he gradually kept becoming more & more & more & more WHITE-WASHED (lol) as time went on, sadly. Ever since Night of Champions at ended...it reached the point as far as he goes where I just said "meh fuck it".
Some said to me "wait & see what happens" but I feel "wait & see what happens" argument has ran it's course as far as pro-wrestling goes in this modern day & age for sure.
@Imhim247 CM Punk's WHITE t-shirt is kinda ironic/symbolism lol....because ever since he debut it...he gradually became even more & more & more WHITE-washed as time went on (lol), sadly.
Coincidently to LV's talk on Punk...recently WrestlingJesus made anti-Punk videos lol I mean shit man..he even tore-up the fucking white t-shirt LOL.
WWE has had a better year when it comes to characters, promos, but ROH has had better matches & ppvs, but WWE wasn't better than ROH this year, I gotta agree with you LV but Sanders did have some pretty valid points on his vid... it's really a matter of opinion & personal preference.
WWE has been way too up and down for me. When they've been good this year, they've been actually great. But the bad this year is BAD. Like fucking AWFUL. Because of the WWE's horrible stretches from May-June and September-present, I can't say they've had that good of a year.
@Trademark629 Wow, I've had exact same experience with WWE. It was watchable but till May I didn't watch it as much. Then on the road to MITB time I watched it more (like from Jan-May), then since like week after Night of Champions it went back down to being like how it was from May-June.
This WWE year could be described as a "stretch or patchy year" (still not a good year) but I preferred this WWE year a few levels more than 09 & 10. 09 & 10 (especially 09) I did not like overall.
Great video once again and thanks for the response. You made a lot of great points. I really hope the seeds planted for Final Battle will help the promotion in 2012 like DCK said but I'm still not holding my breath. Minus some idiotic decisions I still feel like the WWE really had more interesting promos, feuds and characters over ROH this year. Other than the Briscoes and Steen I feel like the roster has done nothing creative from storyline standpoint. WWE just has better personalities atm.
I wouldn't say the Women's division is doomed because Sara Del Rey said she was gonna try and make it to the WWE. She said she want's the women's division to mean something again on mainstream TV
@STOMPaaa Another real bad thing about the Divas division (as far as 2011 goes at least)...Kharma.....I'm not going on her for actually being pregnant no, but fact is her absence did do harm to Divas division this year & WWE had to scramble to create back-up plans fast & come-up with Divas of Doom. But the stupid thing I'm saying WWE did was make Kharma have that random-ass nervous breakdown in the ring showing her human emotions. That wack, for real..when I saw that on TV in May.
Everyone should just agree to disagree and coexist peacefully and know that no matter which one of WWE or ROH is better, they're both better than the abortion known as TNA.
I am guessing you would prefer 2010 over this year? The angles in 2010 were not that great. This year has delivered better matches IMO. This year has accomplished more than 2010. In 2010 WWE was looking bad towards the end of 2010. I'd take the fall of 2011 over fall of 2010. The 2011 PPV's have been better overall, and the storylines are a bit more interesting.
WWE isn't that bad right now. WWE still has much better PPV's than TNA. Final Resolution was garbage. Since Survivor Series WWE has had better RAW's and SD's. WWE may not execute on angles well, but we have had some good storylines this year, and a bunch of very good matches. ROH just hasn't done much this year. The storylines just don't interest me this year other than Steen. ROH roster is stale and the TV shows do nothing for me. ROH on Sinclair equals Superstars with slightly better matches.
ROH has not accomplished much this year. Edwards vs Richards has not lived up to what it should be. The feud is not that interesting to me. One of the worst years for WWE? WWE has accomplished a lot this year. Ziggler, Punk, Rhodes, Henry, Truth have all gotten more over. WWE has had a bunch of good PPV's and not as many bad ones. The Punk angle was very good, regardless if they screwed the angle up. ROH had good matches, but thats it. Didn't care much for ROH this year.
@GoldStandard000 yes, one of the worst years. terrible follow ups, terrible builds, championships meaning less as its ever been with multiple hot shots and terrible ways of putting a title over, stupid convuluted storylines, etc. it has gotten that bad imo
@LV5454 whats ROH acomlished same world title stale feud Eddie Ewards vs Davey not sizzle, to it. ANX briscos was good fued overall wwe done a lot better then ROH i agree with goldstandrd2000

@GoldStandard000 Who cares if they have better PPVs than TNA though that's irrelevant

@Trademark629 LV said in the video that he would rather watch TNA than WWE right now, so thats why I said that.

@LV5454 I don't disagree with you at all just as a WWE fan I just think it should be acknowledged that WWE has had their good moments this year.
