More info on Bertha Tillman. Born Bertha Louise Tillman on 6/28/42 in Texas. Died in San Diego on 5/31/93 at age 50 and was then known as Bertha Ward. This info comes from rootsweb (California death records).

A little more info on Bertha Tillman can be found if you google her name along with "San Diego" - she was working there as a department store salesgirl when discovered. Apparently this was her real name (not a stage name) since someone made reference to her when her father (Rudolph Tillman) passed away in 2010. If anyone can post any more info it would be greatly appreciated - this has to be one of the greatest and most haunting recordings ever and I would love to know more about her.
