Okay if you think Nine Inch Nails ripped this off majorly then why don't you go back a few years to a little song called "Ice Ice Baby" Complete Bass line rip off. And besides I feel asleep during thi....................................................
@Sam5726 Great and elegant quote by Mr Gira. I like it. They both did appear on the Pigface project though both were absent when I saw Pigface live (Leslie Rankin was there singing though, a highlight).
I love this song but sincerely, maybe I'm counter-current, I can't find the rip-off. NIN's Something I can never have is something (sorry for the little pun xD) completely different. My opinion :).
Then you and two other reznor fan boys are deaf. Music must be interesting for you when you cant draw a comparison between two identical parts just because they are from different bands. Sadly Swans is obviously a band that NIN would rip off so I don't see why its so surprising.
IM IN LOVE AGAIN . THIS MUSIC IS SO ELOQUENT/RESONANAT /BEAUTIFUL , AND IT HURTZZZZZZZZ SOOO MUUUUCH , AND NOW I FEEL HAPPY, BECAUSE MY EARS TELL ME SUCH SWEET THINGS TO LEARN AND LISTEN TOO , BLOODY BRILLIANT SOUNDZ, AS PER
SWANS? YES! Nine Inch Nails? No thanks... Reznor tends to get distracted by his influences tooo much. And make his songs sound Familiar to other artists. He should had looked at what his influences philosophies on musical value where.. like what SWANS did. SWANS imagined the unimaginable.
@stocker68 I don't think they ripped them off, I mean if you listen to this song, NIN's something I can never have, and Linkin Park's what I've done, yes they sonically have a similar part in each of them, but I really don't think they were intentionally ripping each other off. There are only so many notes that exist and sometimes bands come up with similar parts without even knowing it. The important part is each band made said song it's own thing.
@lookdante Wow! I know they worked with and then basically ripped off Skinny Puppy and Ministry but also Swans? Is there anyone in Pigface that Renzor didn't rip off? XD

the swans make uncompromising and powerful music, NIN made radio friendly alterna-turds

this isnt fake 9" nails nonsense - Swans are real - any similarities to persons living or dead are purely coincidental

@CampbellsShutup Ice Ice baby (1990) was after both Swans (1987) and NIN (1989) "versions". But it´s a funky tune anyway ;-)

Who cares who won an award? In my opinion, Swans and NIN are both great bands. They don't need awards to prove that. It's apparent in their music.

He could've won ten fucking Oscars, but he'll never even come close to pure musical genius of Swans, though :-) Dixit!

somewhere around here there used to be another video to this song that someone had made out of footage from 'Microcosmos".
Is that one still around, anyone know?
applebomber22 1 year ago
@applebomber22 - no, I'm afraid that's gone. The documentary makers objected.

@MFMITF ehm, it is NIN's "Something I Can Never Have" that sounds like Swans' "In My Garden". In fact, Reznor ripped-off this song
