  • @frentrup Yeah, pretty interesting to hear that later and realize what happened. Thanks for writing!

  • great vids, hope you continue making more

  • Great view and a great avionic in that C172

    Greetings from Germany

  • @DerLuftikus Hello Germany! Thanks for the nice comments and for watching the video. All the best from the USA!

  • Ahhh the sound of them tires touching pavement!! Good Stuff.

  • Another great video Rick and proof that you gotta be able to adapt to changes. I'm planning to change the view point of my videos to capture in cockpit and out front as you have done. I think this is a very interesting and educational view especially if you have a nice panel such as that SP has. I'm making the transition to an iPad cockpit with my checklist on the iPad. We'll see how that goes and maybe I'll show that in my video this weekend. Time to get a few more solo hours! Alan

  • Hey Rick--I actually landed right behind you on this morning! I was flying N9905F that morning doing my IFR stage one check--that was the chief flight instructor calling 9 miles out and asking to intercept the localizer (and to land on 35 rather than 28). Nice landing! I think I was on short final which is why he asked you to hold short of Charlie (I think we taxied off on Charlie after landing).

  • @njlarkin That is so cool that you were right behind me. I remember hearing another plane choosing 35. What a small world. Glad you're going your IFR. I need to do that one day myself!

  • @rdfelty I was watching this thinking "these radio calls sound familiar" and then when I heard Vicky ask for the localizer 35 I looked at the date on the video and I realized that I was indeed in 05F that morning. I'm looking forward to your KEEN video. I wanted to go last Sat but went to KSFM instead because the ceiling was a bit too low at KEEN. Did you eat at Campy's Country Kettle?

  • The only thing bad about this was for some reason my internet did not want to load the video fast, so I had to wait 3 hours to see it :)

Great video Rick! Hope to see more in the future, and I'll be uploading some of my training stuff as well, I hope you check them out too!

    Mike.

  • Great videos Rick. Just one question - when you're running through your checks at various stages, what are you checking when you say "lights, camera, action?" - not heard that one over in the UK!

  • @TBravo21 I believe he is running through a checklist in an easy to remember way.

  • @tomtom5418 sure, I'm just wondering what it covers, as I have not heard it before.

  • @TBravo21 Hey there--my CFI taught me the same trick:

Lights: Landing lights and strobes (beacon should already be on and Nav lights if after dark)

    Camera: Transponder to ALT

    Action: Mixture full rich

  • @njlarkin thanks! Sounds much cooler than what I was taught a few years back.... "SPLATED"

    Strobes

    Pitot heat (if required)

    Landing Light (if required)

    Altimeter

    Transponder to ALT

Engine (in the green, mixture rich)

    Directional Gyro

  • At Hanscom, 360s are common. I once had to do two of them in the same landing sequence.

  • Rick, what headsets are those? lightspeeds?

  • @EITirvinbaptiste they look like lightspeed zulu's

  • Excellent Stuff

  • Very interesting video Rick. Great landing.
