  • It's amazing, take the breath. Awesome.

  • A strangely sentimental scene for a Kubrick movie, but still one of the directors greatest moments.

  • If you watch the whole film through and don't cry at this scene then I don't know whats wrong with you.

  • How American's sing the national anthem..

  • No Glory for heroes is an award winning short film that looks the psychological affects ww1 had on soldiers and how it would affect many for the rest of their lives!!

  • Gives me goosepumps everytime I see this scene.

  • @artomalcov

I have seen this several times and still tear up.

  • @story1951 Me too.

  • War is indeed hell!

  • ...Und trotzdem gibt es immer wieder Krieg!

  • Thank you. Now this scene has even more significance for me.

  • @patski2001

it is a scene more emotional in the end of this wonderfull movie who show that behind the Soldiers and the hatred behind peoples (she is a young german woman captured by the French during an attack) the Human can become again

A beautiful lesson of the Human Fraternity !!

Dont forget this lesson : NEVER AGAIN WARS BETWEEN US my European Compatriots !!

  • I think the best scene is the one just before this one (I think), with the old general promoting Kirk Douglas.

But this is still an awesome scene in an awesome movie.

  • I guess it's just me then. I love this movie but this scene did nothing for me

  • God...after experiencing what all these poor men had been through, this scene just cuts through me like a blade. If you don't tear up by the end of this film, I don't want to know you.

  • Magnifique. Merci.

  • Not that it matters, but does anyone know the lyrics to this song?

  • the song has no place in any country.

the armys goes crossing the other countries singing the song wtih his own lyrics, and the local people "foreign" took it and put their own letter.

and the same and same in other countries,

so, in the scene above, the german girl sing the same song that the french army, wich instnce happenes in the reality.

  • /wiki/The_Faithful_Hussar

Complete lyrics, both in german and english

  • @patski2001 It actually matters quite a bit. The song is Frantzen-Gustav Gerdes’s “The Faithful Hussar”. The French soldiers seem to understand the German lyrics, which end with “Oh please, Mother, bring a light, / My sweetheart is going to die”. We know that once the song is over, these soldiers are going back to war.

  • I remember this scene since the first time I saw it. So bizarre at first and then you can't help but get moved by the end of it.

  • An incredible end to an incredible movie.
