  • Ehh guys, well i am from argentina and you today come to my school and you sing for us, and i was amazed because you are great, and ellie kleber i love you are the best

  • A dialect is a variety on one single language spoken by a group of that language speaking people.

Papiamento is based on Portuguese creole, African languages, Spanish, Dutch, English and Arawak native languages.

Obviously it is not a variety on any of the languages mentioned above, but a language with many origins (like all languages have origins).

Unlike many dialects the use of Papiamento is not based on social or demographic reasons. Not limited to class and is officialized by the gov

  • An practical example of the difference between language and dialect:

    Dialects of Papiamento exist!!!

People from Aruba speak and write different than people from Curacao and Bonaire. With differences in the latter mentioned islands also existant. There are even neighbourhoods in Curacao with their own dialect of Papiamento (Boka Sami)!

  • Master i'm so proud of my country and lenguage!!!!!!!

  • ey MyOwnFan1993 I'm from Aruba and papiamento is a LANGUAGE!!! we speak it here it's spoken in Curacau,Bonaire and even in South Africa

  • yeah, I'm from Aruba too!

  • Comment removed

  • i too am an arubian, nos idioma ta e miho!!!!

  • it's an honor to hear them sing in our language Papiamento! thanks for the terrific job guys! And yes, Papiamento is a language! And did you know this song has been chosen as the earth song by Unesco?Pabien!

  • This song has been composed by Etty Toppenberg of Aruba Dutch Caribbean, one of our top performers.

  • Sehu is not Aruba culture....it came from Curacao and Bonaire from the black slaves

  • @Solaurba idd Sehu is van Curacao , een dans en zang om de oogst te vieren

  • this is great, but i wouldnt call it a children's choir. it has men's voices.

  • Some of those "men" are only 14 and 15. Some boys voices change earlier than others. All the guys in CCC are 18 and under so therefore they are a children's choir

  • Papiamento is not a dialect! It is a LANGUAGE

  • Why are you so ignorant?

Be glad that Caresselsings points out something to you. Besides, look at the thumbs up and thubs down.. it says it all doesnt it?

Papiamento is an official LANGUAGE. If you actually know the differences between a dialect and a language, you should have known better!

So try to inform yourself better next time and for sure don´t ´sigh´ people untill you have informed yourself.

  • My excuses for answering your question in a new post

  • youre right you know. I am an arubian and yes papiamento is an official language.

  • i sang this same some last year, about a month before a mens choir festival we did with them

  • yeah i hear ya about the st.louis suburban thing. I was there too...miss hanson was ok. Yeah i was kind of glad she made us skip b/c the fact that we were doing like 3 different languages[counting tatkovina]! waaay too much!

  • we did this for St.Louis Suburban yesterday... Judy Hanson was our conductor. She was awesome... even though she made us skip a verse because all the schools ogt the music to the song thrusday (She didn't know that and got mad) and so we skipped a verse but we were good!

  • i hear ya there, horrible,by now though i could probably sing darker, louder and deeper than the basses there.(im 16 by the way,not 20 something like it says on my page)

  • No...

    not this song...

Singing this was a horrible experience.

  • im in the same choir but at a lower level...when ever i see them i get goose bumps!!

  • Well, it's pretty good. They didn't exactly pronounce our language correctly, though.

Butt don't get me wrong! I'm not criticizing the voices... The singing is fantastic!

I wonder how they got their hands on that song :S

  • tittel, is that u? XD

  • I know, me too!

  • thsoe dont sound like children lol but what a wonderful job.

  • uhh nice! but my profile has better stuff! chck it out! c

  • damm judy hanson looks like shes havin a fit..at the beginning when they are coming on the risers..lol

Judy hansons pretty cool tho she came to our school and taught our choirs a bunch of different songs.including this one

    :]

  • lol don't judy always look like that? but then again she and josephine are always pressing concert choir to be our best... that's why they are always so professional and perform so well.

For those of you who may not know Seú is Curacao's local harvest feast which is celebrated on second Easter day in the form of a big parade to thank God for the wonderful gift of grain and fruit harvest.
