  • Best episode?!

  • To those wondering about the 'endless' pool... it's a pool on top of a skyscraper

  • Arcades in Singapore are always underground or on the top floors , i have never seen an arcade in Singapore that has been on the middle or 1st floor

  • Agree with @Gen3si4 ! The subway here in singapore is epiic. You can never get lost. Haha!

  • In the 90s we used to have quantity - tons of smaller arcades around every corner. Nowadays it's all about quality - we have pretty well equipped arcades at most major shopping malls. Glad you guys liked it here.

  • pimping across the world yo!

  • This should be a new stage in SF! With the skyscrapers, helicopters, bridges, arcades and all! "Singapore: Business district" :)

  • @11:29 you can see filipino champ's fat brother in the bottom right corner

  • This video made me shiver.

I want to go to Singapore.

  • Yeah the country looks nice but I would rather live somewhere where i don't have to worry about getting sent to jail for ten years for wanting to smoke some weed. What a fucked up judicial system they have going over there.

  • @dannkk alright dude, peace out! :)

  • from Livermann : Just to make things clear, those helicopters and planes flying overhead was all part of a rehearsal for our National Day parade. It's pretty much like an equivalent to Independence Day for Americans. No we're not some sort of totalitarian state that likes to flaunt their military. We're just another normal country that likes to flaunt their military.

So that explains the F-15s and all flying all over alright people? :)

  • @Gen3si4 I just came from the Chicago Airshow today, and at the end of the radio broadcast that follows the show, the deejays said something 'like' this, "We're all in this shithole together, and we're not bad people. But don't nudge us the wrong way because the guile theme still goes with everything according to wikipedia"

  • @dannkk, LOL! yea right, singaporeans cant afford a console but afford an iphone?

Hmmm 899SGD iphone vs 499SGD Xbox/PS3.. which is more expensive..

go do some homework before you comment, no punt intended, back at you :)

  • I was just waiting for a giant monster to come out of the ocean...

  • Wow, I'd like to visit Singapore. It looks amazing.

  • Wow, absolutely gorgeous city. I can't get over how how clean and polished it all looks- like one of those futuristic sci fi cities.

  • Wow...didn't mean to offend anyone. So, you're saying the average family there has 700 bucks to toss down on console equipment, or just yours? If they do, your arcade scene will die just like ours has. This is just the trend I've seen for myself. Arcades are popular in places where people can't afford to play at home. It was even the same here in the US. When arcades were popular here, the games were to expensive to play at home. Again, sorry for any offense, none was intended.

  • @dannkk Singapore has one of the highest GDP per capita, so I'm pretty sure people can afford their own console.

  • @dannkk your ignorance is offensive... lmfao.

  • that's not how it works at all. arcades are still very popular in japan as well. plus the average family living in singapore has more money than the average US family. arcades are the places were the players can all gather to play at high level (since online in fighting games is not a very good way to play, as even a milisecond of lag can make difference, unlike in shooters were it'd go by unnoticed)

  • @DarkCrono100

It really doent go by unnoticed in shooters. Call Of Duty is the worst game for it, for example, you may empty almost a whole clip in a guy and he shoots you but then on the kill cam it doesnt show you firing a shot and theres other times where you may see your kill cam and it shows you shooting to the left of the other player but actually you had your crosshair over the person. One of the main reasons Battlefield is better is because it has dedicated servers so its much smoother

  • @dannkk lol! so you're saying that if people can cook at home, restaurants all over the world will have to close down; if beer can be stored in home refrigerators, bars will wind up; and if online shopping ever becomes possible, malls will shut down? The last time I checked, none of those industries are in danger of going extinct. Players gather in quality arcades for the sake of SOCIALISING and AMBIENCE.

  • @dannkk fyi, many of those players who frequent Bugis do have consoles at home. Very often, they practise at home before they put their skills on display in public. Most 7th gen console packages in Singapore cost less than 700USD, even when you include MadCatz or Hori fight sticks, while many of those players spend about 100USD per month playing in the arcades despite already having at least one console at home. So saying that arcades are a cheaper alternative to consoles is simply untrue.

  • @dannkk You still have no idea why arcades are still popular in large modern cities with a very condense population and great public transportation like Singapore, Hong Kong, Tokyo, etc. People in such cities live in very small apartments, so they spend more time outside of home than in it. That means meeting with friends to play games at arcades and gaming centers rather than cramming them all into your apartment to play on a console.

  • Paradise !!!!!! Aahhhhhh

  • shoutouts to DOTA!!! nice one Mike

  • Gootecks " where are they going ? "

they're flying to LAS VEGAS EVO2k11 WITH F16+F15 JETS

  • check out mike ross at 12:44 lmao

  • And then Mike Ross bodied their best player with his Blanka

  • Jealousy

  • @dannkk sad to tell you that we too have consoles at home but does that means we should be staying at home like you do?you sounds like the consoles means so much to you that you cant visit the arcades or it cost so much that you yourself cant afford to visit the arcade?either way you looks pathetic, just so you know that we usually meet for arcade then dinner or other activities like movies later of the day.you will be better off watching it online tho as im afraid the ticket will be too costy f

  • i thought that pool was like a river or something at first

  • @Def093 It's atop/across a set of 3 building towers. :P

  • @duriankia SOOO OBNOXIOUS

  • Living the dream...

  • Gootecks is so cute.

  • wow american arcade scene is so dead.....it's sad...

  • how do they get to go around the fukin world and shiiat? anyway who sponsors mike and gootecks?

  • mike"only black guy in singap." ross

  • Singapor looks like Coruscant from Star Wars.

  • Will the new version of third-strike contain the original/arranged versions of the music in past games.

  • hi

  • Did you guys get out to the wave park at Sentosa? Would have liked to seen Gootecks surfing a 6 ft stationary wave

  • Great vid guys.. I am one of the few ang mo's (white guys) that plays at Bugis regularly.. Excellent promo for Singapore. Glad the world can finally see the quality of play in this country! You guys should do more of these city guides

  • Gootecks we need a Urien guide in honor of Third Strike Online

  • oh my god, you guys just make me want to PRACTICE!!!!

  • THATS A POOL!?!?!

  • thier arcade scene is so gdlike...that is sick...just fucking insane. the place with the big screens for Marvel was like, the fuckin enterprise for Fighting games..lol

  • Mike *Obnoxious* Ross!

  • 11:11 look really unsafe. I'm assuming there's something on the other side that's safe.

  • This is definitely a video that begs to be posted in higher resolution. Great, great video nonetheless.

  • 10:33, That was Singapore warning too lock down the city. Why? because two Americans came too Singapore, and was about to bring their information back too the States. Singapore. Does. Not. Play. >:(.

  • Mike Ross: the only black man in Singapore.

9:28 Singapore's version of Ricky Ortiz.

  • @Gootecks Sad to say, but we don't have that in the US because people have to much money. People that want it, can afford a monitor, console and game. Notice how it's kind of dying in Japan. They can also afford consoles. But then...Korea, Singapore, Mexico...they all have arcade scenes. They can't all afford this stuff, so they end up in lan centers and arcades.

  • @dannkk LOL that is bullshit about singaporeans not being able to afford this stuff. alot of these people have their own consoles at home, but it's just a different environment in the arcade.

  • @dannkk

You do realise that 15% of Singaporean households are millionaires?

  • @dannkk I dont know you, but it seems you are living in your own world. You still think that US is the richest in the world. There are many other cities in the world with so much higher GDP per capita than your cities. Ignorance is what I believe. Or just plain arrogance. Go travel around the world and open your eyes.

  • Since you guys have Filipino Champ on Complexity, how are you going to fix his PR image? I mean everyone hates him! He called Tokido a f*ggot.

  • @NewportSnooze He's also gayer than Ortiz

  • @NewportSnooze meh. That's politics. Are you playing politics or are you playing fighting games?

  • 9:22... is that Jaime Fox on the poster ?

  • Amazing episode guys, I'd really enjoyed that episode... you guys should have a special on the travel channel and just find the best arcades around the world(with the occasional hotel). Please make that happen.

  • After watching this episode, Im moving to singapore... hahhaha, the last thing gootecks says, you can hear the sadness of leaving back to L.A.

  • I just saw the paradise *_*

  • mike ross' sunglasses are officially the worst thing ever

  • Just an observation from someone who used to live in LA and now lives in Singapore. The reason the arcade scene here is strong is because public transportation here is one of the best in the world for such a small country with a high population density. So travel to the arcade is actually not a big deal not like in LA where you have to drive long distances to get to an arcade.

  • @donsdgr81 that doesn't mean anything. here in nyc, our transportation system is pretty good also. you can get anywhere via bus or subway and yet there are not many arcades here. arcade scene is dead in nyc, even worse than L.A. it's a cultural difference, more so than transportation.

  • @lucirz last great arcade in nyc is chinatown fair but that shit is gone cause they don't make enough money to stay alive. there's the new "next level arcade" but that's not really an arcade, it's more of a gaming center, where u basically rent to play consoles really.

  • @donsdgr81 That's definitely a fair point. US public transportation is laughable at best.

  • Gootecks actually missed another 3 2-player setups for AE in Bugis. So that's a total of 8 linked setups, 6 head-head, and 3 2-player setups so a total of 20 players can play.

  • Damn if I knew that Gooteks and Mike Ross came here I would have went to Bugis to play. The place is just about 10 minutes walk from my workplace so I got there every Friday. I met Mike Ross when I was in LA during SCR.

  • I bet they went to visit Geylang after the documentry

  • @thesoftmint lol damn

  • Where do they get the money for all this ...they don't even win tournaments!!!

  • @decado67

In case you haven't already realised, they are the stars of a huge internet show called Cross Counter and the "Excellent Adventures of..." series?

  • @Aedynx

    And they are also sponsored.

  • @decado67 they were already in Australia for SS so its not like they took the trip from LA just to mess around there.

  • im so jealous.

  • Wait, so one of the three screens in Colosseum is playing Excellent Adventures 24/7?

How can a LAN center be any better than that?

  • obnoxious? national day parade rehearsal bro

  • Did he say No Sign Seaboard?I'm pretty sure it's No Signboard Seafood.

  • dude i love asia.

  • WTF WHEN DID YOU COME TO SINGAPORE AAAAAAAH I NEED YOUR AUTOGRAPHS TURN TIME BACK COME BACK AGAIN AAAAH

  • daaammmn ... and I thought Americans loved their flag waving .... lol ... singaporians take the " don't let the flag touch the ground " rule to new levels ... literallly !!!

  • 4:46 "at a level that is very manageable": ie people are FREE SON!

  • Impressive scene there!

  • Wow, I've been to Singapore but I had NO IDEA that those places existed.

  • WOOOOOOOOO,SINGAPORE!!

  • This video has made me prouder to be a Singaporean than any other thinly-veiled "propaganda" video released by state media over the last decade.

Rock on guys, I'm glad you enjoyed your trip. Bring more people next time. :)

  • Proud to be Singaporean XD

  • Why did you guys have to associate planes and helicopters flying around as authoritarian states? I see cities everywhere having such displays during their independence day celebrations. Stop stereotyping singapore. GOSH. Maybe I should say UK is a communist state with all the flags hanging everywhere during the Royal Wedding a few months ago too. ( the gaming centers look amazing though. )

  • that pool doesn't look safe.

  • @kchampz1093 there're actually glass walls for safety and that effect

  • @mxkaka yeah man! haha

  • was great meeting you mike . hope you will be back next time .

  • Watching this video made me feel so fucking sad. I live in Brazil.

  • kelly sent me

  • You know what's better than the arcades in Singapore? The FOOD!

  • If I had a nickel for everytime I see Gootecks wearing his "I Taco L.A." shirt", I'd have about $3 by now.

  • @johntradiction busted :( i need new shirts :< -g

  • @crosscountertv Well, it's a pretty sweet shirt so it's cool to sport it all the time.

  • im from singapore

  • oh man that pool is insane O_O

  • I didn't know Guile was in Singapore. I swore that was a sonic boom at 10:31

  • LOL @ 7:18 when Mike Ross says he's gonna get blown away by the singapore dudes but doesn't show him getting his ass kicked. My guess here is that he slapped them up!

  • @dss103 watch?v=nicumFW2LtI

  • @dss103 Or the other way around.

  • @dss103

  • those arcades are ridiculous

  • I was thinking about moving to Singapore before I saw this and after seeing those amazing setups, oh my god, done deal. I practically came.

  • One of the greatest Cross Counter videos of all times.

  • 11:30 justin wong????

  • the choppers and jets were out because of national day parade rehearsal.

  • Best jobs in the world. Seriously

  • lucky guys, these videos are sweet, more abroad trips please

  • 10:32 OH GOD THEY FOUND THEM

  • Lol they got hit with a sonic boom

  • Just to make things clear, those helicopters and planes flying overhead was all part of a rehearsal for our National Day parade. It's pretty much like an equivalent to Independence Day for Americans. No we're not some sort of totalitarian state that likes to flaunt their military. We're just another normal country that likes to flaunt their military.

  • @Livermann thanks for clearing that up, honestly that was the first thing to come to mind lol
