You must be ruthlessly agressive to play as the Zuul. Took me a long time to get used to that since it goes against every Civ builder rule.

Your Mileage May Vary, but personally, I think that, ironically, considering the savage hot-blooded evil yet hypocritically pious monstrosities that the Zuul are meant to be in-verse, I think it works because of being "overdone" and "melodramatic" considering it is basically, for lack of better terminology, a "love song" to the concept of the Zuul, characters who are the definite card-carrying blackhatted villains of the Sword of the Stars games.

phasers PD, powerful shields, NUMBERS, and i think there is a tech that makes them do half damage...nanites maybe? either of those options are high level so ill say speed is the best thing, fast skirmishers who get out of the cloud fast and hits the missile ship with powerful short range guns.

on a side note, a powerful PD at close range can cause the missiles to explode right after getting out of the tubes, causing them to cover the enemy ship.

laser guns? those work cuite well against normal missiles.

Best defense against missiles is usually PD (Point defense). I make ships that have nothing but PD that go in front of the fleet and enemies typically target them, leaving my dreadnoughts alone.

Not the Suul-ka, the Suul-ka are still unknown. The Morrigi (the MoC race) is the race the Zuul were developed to destroy. So no, not their creators, but their intended targets ;)

@Xichinakidal the Suul-ka are probably the unveiled enemy from the Swords of the Stars 2 intro trailer. If you look carefully you see a few Zuul ships but also something else (tentacly looking thing).

yes their armor is lower however they have very very cheap ships. also their maintenence cost is 1/2 of the other races so..you actually have more you can and should put out. also they have much much more firepower than any other. for the overharvest its not that big a problem and also their grapple+boarding pod startegy ships are a killer. they will kill so many with that.

i dont like the zuul...simply cant play them.

their armor is lower than liir, their research is simply crap, they waste resources constantly, their worlds get eradicated completly so you cant even hope to recapture a lost colony because everyone are dead...

their only advantage is that after the node is established they can surprise you with their speed and constant attacks.

basically they can send s single curver to your HW and then a turn later send a massive tailored fleet on you.but...
