  • timeless !!!!! i used to hate this song due to overplaying

  • I love new wave (L)

  • Gotta love a song that sample Star Trek.

  • I never will get a hair like he, but it's pretty style, I like it

  • The singer is kind of cute but his hair was annoying in a way. This kind of music was played heavily on Club MTV back in the days. Had no idea what country they were from. Back then it was hard to tell which bands were American and which ones were English with this style of pop/dance music.

  • They were from Boston.

  • You are wrong!!!!

    They were from Minneapolis!

  • My Bad..Was thinking of another 80"s group..Yes, the are from Minneapolis.

  • Information Society will be back in Minneapolis for a show on March 28th. More info is posted on the band's official website at informationsocietyDOTus.

  • I remember when this originally played on American MTV. MTV introduced me to a lot of British groups that I still listen to. This was a favorite. Thanks for posting !!!

  • i cant stop lisin to this song beaning playing it non stop for the last 7hours

  • GREAT SONG- retarded video!

  • word

  • not a one hit band. that's a lot of memories from my childhood.

  • Nice to see they got their inspiration for the video from ABC....or should I say 'ripped off'?

  • Which ABC video?

  • It's ABC's video for "Be Near Me". Another great 80s hit. This video is just a faster more upbeat version of theirs. This came out a few years after "Be Near Me" but this song and video brings back young memories of me being in the 6th grade.

  • wtF ?

  • that shit is too much:).......lol

  • Hell ya!!!

  • Any band that samples Nimoy is alright in my book.

  • Great song. This is the first song I ever purchased via internet download.

  • that yahoo serious? looks like him

  • no just someone who liked Yahoo Serious' style. heh

  • this is a great song but the video is pretty lame, even for the 80's. awesome song tho!

  • holy shit this brings me back

  • OMG!! i LOVE this song.... :D

    ~"crazynation"~

  • this lead singer is hot!

  • 80s music at its best!!!

  • I was listening to an 80's radio station and this came on, I had to look it up!

    Man good music.

  • Love the song and the video is soooo 80's! Love all :)

  • love the song but its such a terrible video

  • I saw them at Joey's at Ortley Beach in 1989 they were awsome... They are super under rated... Don't think they ever got a grammy.

  • Outstanding song! Still holds up to this day, 5 stars!

  • This song's awesome!!!

    total classic..

  • Definitivamente esta es la mejor banda de tecno-pop de los 80's, no puedo dejar de escuchar esta cancion, es demasiado buena.Desde que era un adolescente, soy adicto a la musica los INSOC.simplemente "PURE ENERGY"

  • Yaaa!! This song reminds me the time of my first kiss!!YeaHHH Back in Brazil, Santos- SP

I was a fever!! bOMB THE BASS, Depeche Mode, Super Sonic, SX EXpress!!! And of course Vanila Ice!!hahahahaha

    THANKS FOR POSTING THE VIDEO!

  • It's just Pure Energy!

Not a musical or a video Statement...

    Great!

    El Morxis...

  • 85-87 were truly the defining yrs for DM.

  • watch "24 hour party people". that's really when it all started.

  • you can't get electronica this good today

  • Really? Try listening to "The Cruxshadows", they're a darkwave band, and the singer pretty much reminds me of this one. Try searching for these songs: Imortal, Winterborn, Resist, Cassandra, Elissa and Deception.

  • AMAZING BEATS. AMAZING VOCALS. AMAZING PRODUCTION.

People can call this shit 'gay' today, but in reality i think this is some really talented stuff and yet it's friendly to the ears.

Hell, i normally listen to metal.

but i think this is the shit, haha.

  • Thank you!

  • Nuuu, it's an awesome song!

If uou don't like it, then don't watch it.

    Dx

  • Welcome!

    Pure Energy

  • daóraa

  • Amo o information society, me lembro da minha excelente adolencência, discoteca, amnigos etc.. muito BOMMMMMMMMMMMM!

  • Further investigation shows that they modeled their sound after British 80s music as a response to the 2nd British music invasion. All these Brit bands heating up the American scene. These guys decided to heat back. :) Good job! NEVER would have pegged them as Americans. They even SING like Brits! *LOL*

  • Are you serious??? I thought they were British for sure! lol

  • They're American alright. If I remember correctly, they're from Minneapolis, but Kurt moved to San Francisco a while ago and became all goth.

  • no information soc., are american i purchased this album in america in 1988,it was not released in the uk at that time.i dont think they modeled themselves on any band they are individual which is what makes a good band.

  • They were originally from Minneapolis where they played around in the eighties -- somewhat a response to the sound coming from the UK at the time -- and then left for New York and were bicoastal until they broke up like in the early nineties. They never became gigantic but they developed a significant and loyal indie/hipster cult following. They are recently reunited -- made an album and doing a little touring. I haven't heard any of the new stuff.

  • Looked them up online. These guys were AMERICAN! What the hell?! All these years I thought they were British! Geez, they sounded like Brit 80s music!

  • Outstanding tune! The 80's had those occasional classics and this is one of my top faves from the era of Reagan, big hair and MTV. The video is over the top schmaltzy kitschy 80's all the way.

  • Love, love, LOVE that song. So many memories. I've been a fan since I was like 9 or 10 years old. Too bad this was their only huge hit, although I think Walking Away fared pretty well too. InSoc kicks ass!!

  • Luv the remix of Running!

Anyways,it's too bad they way all the shit hit the fan yrs ago with this band.

I don't for see a reunion anytime soon.

  • mUITOOOOOOOOOOOO BOMMMMMMMMMM

  • The late eminent Scottish psychiatrist Dr. Charles Follen MckKim Maloney actually penned most of the lyrics of this song back in the late 1970's on the back of a yellow legal pad and was later found among his collections after his death and re-written and performed by Information Society.

  • Pure Energy! Star Trek forever!!

  • live at the devils nest!...1986...information society!

  • this is a good song !!!

  • When I hear this song, I think of American Psycho

when Bateman throws tthe chainsaw at the stupid french whore, and hits her directly....

    HAHAHAHAHAHA SUCH A FUCKING CLASSIC

  • Damn, this song has so much energy.

  • i saw them at grad night in disney land. fuck i'm getting old. don't feel old though. stil could pass for 29. Feel 24!

  • i may be older but i still request this song when i go out to dance. along with the cure facination street and the pet shop boys version of always on my mind.dance dance dance

  • Fuckin bad ass song still. They play this in the club and the floor fills up quick

  • INSOC 4-EV4R!!!! ;)

  • Good stuff. Too bad there is nothing like Information Society these days.

  • they sound like Dead or Alive. I thought thats who sang this when I first heard it.

  • Great track! This song marked the end-of-freestyle era LOL XD

  • American dance version of Tears for Fears.

  • I miss this era and being in my teens. Man what a time.

  • i feel so depressed in the 2000's

    :(

  • Anyone know where I can get those round close together glasses! Those are rocking!!!

  • Hmmm, I bought a pair at Oat Willie's in Austin, TX in 1989! LOL. The store's still there. Not sure about the glasses...

  • LOL and you think that doesn't happen now???? LMFAO!!!

  • The Bests 80s!

  • Can you imagine how fucked up the world would be if we had youtube in the eighties? Kids would stop going to school, do drugs, and stay home searchin youtube! 0_o

  • That's kind of what happens now. lol

  • We're doomed! LOL

  • did the same handful of directors do EVERY new wave video? they all seem to fall into several distinct looks: industrial, cartoonish, or operatic melodrama. NOT EVERY SINGLE ONE OF COURSE, but there are defenitely patterns here. Check out ABC Be Near Me and compare the style of the set.

  • takes me back to 7th grade.Oh know.great song though

  • I remember driving to Chocolate City and my brother blasting this song in his Nissan Sentra. I wanted to hide.

  • I wanna know What you're thinking. There are some things you can't hide. I wanna know What you're feeling. Tell me what's on you mind. Here i am in silence, Looking round without a clue. I find myself along again. All alone with you. I can see behind your eyes, The things that i don't know. If you hide away from me, How can our love grow?
  • I am in shock I remember seeing them in concert, this was the first song played.

  • I went to school with these guys, They were treated like shit by

the rednecks form our area. Kurt, Jim--Lisa and I always loved you guys. Glad to hear you both are doing so well, Lisa just got her masters degree and Me "Bruce" is doing great as a photographer. • You know, I always thought these guys were British! I just found out they're American. They would have fit in well with British groups like the Pet Shop Boys, Frankie Goes to Hollywood, New Order,ABC,Wang Chung, etc...

  • I went to school with these guys and you are right they would of fit in great with the British groups, I only knew them as people not as musicians. They took a lot of shit from the rednecks at our school. My wife was friends with Jim and he was and IM sure still is one of the nicest guys, and kurt was a total free spirit that could not be broken. Im glad their lives after our small town turned out so F n awesome they deserve all of their success.

  • We need more people like that in the world- those who dare to be different and free spirits that can't be broken. It's like I tell my students- be nice to classmates who are "nerds" and "weirdos". They tend to be very successful later in life.

Anyway, LOVE THIS SONG, brings back great memories of my senior year.

  • Love this song ... someone please make a new video.

  • They're still making albums. One came out earlier this year. The lead singer is doing music for games. I'm not sure about the others.

  • These guys have got be rooting for the Minnesota Twins tonight against the Chicago White Sox in the one game playoff. I say this because Information Society are from Minneapolis, Minnesota.

  • I owe my mother an apology for bitching and whining till she tool me and my friends to the mall buy this cassett. Keep in mind this was AFTER i discovered good music from my 70's stoner brothers
