The singer is kind of cute but his hair was annoying in a way. This kind of music was played heavily on Club MTV back in the days. Had no idea what country they were from. Back then it was hard to tell which bands were American and which ones were English with this style of pop/dance music.

Further investigation shows that they modeled their sound after British 80s music as a response to the 2nd British music invasion. All these Brit bands heating up the American scene. no information soc., are american i purchased this album in america in 1988,it was not released in the uk at that time.i dont think they modeled themselves on any band they are individual which is what makes a good band.

They were originally from Minneapolis where they played around in the eighties -- somewhat a response to the sound coming from the UK at the time -- and then left for New York and were bicoastal until they broke up like in the early nineties. They never became gigantic but they developed a significant and loyal indie/hipster cult following. They are recently reunited -- made an album and doing a little touring. I haven't heard any of the new stuff.
