  • I want to find that video at 3:50

Does anyone remember "Sillyville" (from like 1988)

Those guys remind me of the Spurdle Gurgles! :)

  • michael jackson is the best dancer ever .period

  • Were's the next part?????

  • Im still trying to learn the bloody moonwalk.... That things so hard and they make it look so easy...

  • @ritecliqer you do have to work out your legs. Dont give up its not easy. But like any other muscles in the body, they get used to it. Good Luck/

  • there is just something mesmerizing about watching MJ move. I mean, the others are great, but watching MJ, there's just something different.

  • Really interesting video.....

  • you are absolutely i've seen it in a silent film which a man with an umbrella was walking when the wind came and blew him backwards in which he moonwalked.

  • I LOVE HOW JEFFREY N MICHAEL DANCE

  • whats the song at 4:46?

  • @flobotic1 "Rockit" by Herbie Hancock

  • thats why mj is so humble cause he knows if it wasnt for jeff daniels, james brown, and fred astaire he wouldnt as great of a performer without them

  • he invented it Michael perfected it

  • No one moves like

    MJ!

  • Casper taught MJ the (back slide) moonwalk by having him stand behind a chair and learn how to pull back onn the heel and repeat

  • @JeuneFilleaCarnival fuck off then

  • 6.36 s,the song?

  • @emonel200 jimmy castor bunch. Its just begun.

  • michael jackson was dancing like that in the seventies body popping got the robot from james brown he got got the back slide from daniels

  • Michael is a honest person and gives respect to people that teached him dance moves. I respect all the teachers and masters of dancing that showed him. Michael somehow also surpassed the level of master and his dancing was so smoothly.

  • Michael Said That He Loved To Take Credit For The Moonwalk But That He Couldn't Because He Had To Be Honest, That He Saw Kids From The Ghetto Doing It & That He Loved It. & That Jeffrey Just Taught It To Him & That He Just Went Home & He Started Perfecting It, He Just Perfect It The Moonwalk.

  • Great, very good. Thanks for sharing this martianflash

  • @Ketren2 actually the moonwalk was done in the 1940s :D

  • Thanks! Still Michael is the best! :)

  • @Ketren2 your right he did say this....

@PdubzCrew yeah andMJ said out loud that he learned it and you see what happened after that with his presentation of his verion thereafter ofmaking it nicer. The others to me seem like even though they were doing it it and involved in it more at that time, they are doing it like they are amateurs....they should have brought it up AND been gorgeous like Michael doing it..LOL...he also put his own uniquness into it

  • It's not about who did what. It's all a continuous and shared process of learning and inventing and sharing. All of these dancers were great. They had their share in shaping up the various dance styles. Give them their due credit. God bless them all!

  • @martianflash thx very interesting and entertaining...I do remember those days and being from L.A. 2

  • @martianflash Thank you for sharing my friend..:)

  • Michel makes it look better. A lot better

  • WHAT.....the back slide....Cazsper taught that to MJ...watch the interview..

  • @PdubzCrew yeah andMJ said out loud that he learned it and you see what happened after that with his presentation of his verion thereafter ofmaking it nicer. The others to me seem like even though they were doing it it and involved in it more at that time, they are doing it like they are amateurs....they should have brought it up AND been gorgeous like Michael doing it..LOL

  • @Ketren2 what the hell are you talking about, he said that he taught him years before he died

  • so why didn't mj ever credit jeffrey cuZ i didn't hear it from him.

  • That shouldn't be surprising.

  • Responding to Howdiddlydoo's question, the song at 4.48 is called Rockit by Herbie Hancock, not sure of song at start but sounds similar so could possibly be same artist. The video to Rockit is available on YT

  • I'm totally with you about Micheal - he is one of best naturally talented dancers with originality.

This program was also very interestin. Fascinating how many talents were drawn to Soul Train (even Campbell)... And all good that came out of it!

  • What's the song at the beginning and 4:48?

  • yes i agree with you as michael was such a perfectionet he would have changed alot of the routines for bad and smooth criminal and yes MJ is one of the best robot impersonators ever if you watch stranger in moscow live he's fantastic he brings everything into one and makes his except for breakdancing which is more acrobatic/gymnastics and not dancing

  • @Yatess100

man people love to make anything less of Michael's impact. Michael only ever did about 2 or 3 moves he learned from JD. Michael was about learning the style then doing his own with it. Michael also worked with many different dancers but JD gets the most credit. What annoys me most is that Michael was a noted dancer years before he worked with anyone

  • Jeffrey Daniels is an OG but I think he likes to credit himself more than he deserves... anyone who really knows about dancing in the 80s era will KNOW that Pop N Taco (who is in some clips iin this video) was MJ's MAIN dance instructor... Jeffrey Daniels to be honest is probably the wackest dancers out of the OG poppers... and MJ was MUCH better than him and Im sure he did NOT Choreograph bad!

  • Beautiful video, it brings a tear to my eye. I have a Michael Jackson Tshirt 4 free from MJfanFreebies (google it) yay! It's my fav!! Michaels my hero!

  • Your right Bronxx. But I think on a different perspective, all of Jeffrey Daniels moves were very popular back in the day and Michael was a poplocker too. What was key though was that Michael was the entertainer who made it all mainstream. He brought it out to the world..incredible stuff though, incredible...

  • This is incredible..I think folks need to listen to what Jeffrey said though. He didn't 'teach' Michael, per ser. Michael had the influences of Martin Scorcese, Fred Astaire, Sammy Davis, etc. and he brought them ALL into play...

  • Like i always say, MJ was an inovator, but he had typical moves, ''MJ MOVES''. And those moves are fucking good. And really, I dont like the easy moves of jeff daniels, but he is a great choreographer.

  • Hey they didn't mention Michael Jackson's robotics in dancing machine. He was a pioneer of roboting.

  • I'm glad you mentioned Dancing Machine..I thought I was the only one that remembered that....Man - he was AMAZING....

  • Anyone notice the single white glove at 5:43? Or the kids with the white gloves after that?

  • Bogaloos, Jeffrey Daniel, Street dancers, they can have inspired some of MJ's steps, but they don't have the rest of Mj"s abilities. When we see someone dancing, making its popping steps or bogaloos steps we get exiceted, but when Michael Jackson starts to dance, something magical begins and everyone can fell it. Michael Jackson is uinique, his way of dance is uinque and his talent is uinique!!

  • Michael Jackson is Michael Jackson not only for his dance, he started performing at the age of 5, he was an incredible singer, he created a new way of making videos, he was composer, he was a great choreographer, he has created magic and astonished audiances all around the world for decades and of course he has created a new and totally personal and magical way of dancing, so that's why he is the King of Pop!!

  • Imagine if Micheal couldn't dance well. He had a unique voice, but he wasn't a Luther V vocally. Micheal Jackson's dance moves were emulated big time. Without dance, Mike wouldn't be Mike. It so many better dancers and singers that never become famous. Many of them are on Youtube. I'm "not" being one of them.

  • Michael Jackson had one of the greatest voices of all MUSIC GENREs

Plus easily one of the greatest natural dancers of all time - you have to remember he hardly ever had any training. Many many dancers spend years of training espcially ballet. But MJJ easily outclasses thousands.

You do not become MOST SUCCESSFUL COMMERCIAL ARTIST for nothing and easily the best (in my opinion and many others).

What let him down a lot was the strange lifestyle he led.

  • @pixelrow umm Michael was known by many to be a workaholic i.e. training. If you are talking about formal training Micheal was known to speak to different dancers and pick up their dance moves and then make it his own. Nothing in life is "original" anymore but rather an innovation. Music, art, literature, are all different forms of their former selves. So when we say be original we mean "make it your own."

  • michael jackson isn't michael jackson because of a couple of dance moves. elsewise jeffrey would be as popular as mj...

  • Can a human being B-Boy HARDER than at 6:37? Daamn Dude!

  • i love the way jef d talks lol... and bronx.. give the man his due... even mike had to be taught.. he wasn't dancing like that with the jackson fives or on pyt... jeff d taught the man... give him his due...

  • ok ya'll mj and jeff did it diffrently

  • pffff please, MJ was much better than jeff daniels, search on youtube michael jackson: Jackson 5 Locking

and thanyou will see who's can pop and lock better

  • you are so right man.

  • Every, every single dancer, and every single newcomer to dancing should watch this video. PERIOD.

  • Michael Jackson NEVER claimed to have invented the moonwalk. Period.

  • @broasca

yes you are right. and he allways said he was inspired from some others.....so it wasn't something secret..... and like james brown said: in the begining he has my steps but then later he has his own''

  • @broasca

yes you are right. and he allways said he was inspired from some others.....so it wasn't something secret..... and like james brown said: in the begining he has my steps but then later he has his own''

and fred astaire too, he said michael was ''a hell of a mover'' after that motown 25 performance (by the way smooth criminal was kind of tribute to fred astaire from michael)

and jeffrey didn't invented the moonwalk too, he was inspired by others from the '50 i think

  • @eleiordache you're right. i just saw the moonwalk in the 40's film cabin in the sky. so the moonwalk is REALLY old

  • @broasca all of you stop jeffrey is a fucking genius he is suppose to be richer than michael fuck dont answer i am 100% right

  • @ediebongz true

  • @broasca

to prove broasca point watch mj interview with oprah (the part he does the accapella of who is it)

  • @broasca He never gave PROPER credit to where and WHO he got it from either.....So there.

  • @ProtaJ So if you know to whom the credit should go.. please say it. On stage and on live or whatever Michael Jackson praised James Brown and owed everything what he did. But James Brown testified at the next phrase like Michael Jackson performed now as Michael Jackson. See what are you trying to say? You dont own self respect by flashing idiotic lines and saying somebody sucks!! And saying something to perfectionist you are all ready a MORON! please reply with the PROPER credited one..

  • @mlraju15 First off, shut the fuck up. Secondly, eat a dick. Thirdly and Lastly, Kill ya'self.

  • @broasca thank you

  • so what HE didnt INVENT the moonwalk, Anyone could have shown him the moonwalk

  • Cooooooool stuff, thank you

  • the whole world needs to watch this video

a respectful history lesson right here on hiphop dancing

everyone give it 5 stars so it turns up in more search results!

  • seems like the two most known pple to do the moonwalk or backslide is michael jackson and jeffrey daniel. plus jeffrey's popping moves were pretty cool, and they were added with some mime stuff.

  • I don't know who rediscovered the backslide in the '70's but I saw one of the Nicolas brothers do it in the movie Cabin in the Sky back in the 1930's.

  • man billy bailey did not make the moonwalk.....the term "moonwalk" is to make an illusion of u stayin in one place but makin it seem like ur walkin....billy bailey did a backslide but wasnt created an illusion....he would tap when his heel dropped.....there for its not a moonwalk but he did play a big role on creatin the backslide

  • Jeffrey Daniels has a weird accent....thats not the way people speak in LA...or is it?

  • I don't know about that & i can't recall hearing anyone with this same accent but it sounds unique & so adorable, i love it!

  • can someone tell me what music vidio 6:27 is

  • great video watch me dance to MJ and rate me

  • Jeffrey sure does know how to teach. Wish I could meet him.

Imagine meeting Fred Astaire, James Brown, Elvis Presley, The Boogaloos, Jeffrey Daniels, AND Michael Jackson...

...And learning from them at the same time. What a jam session that would be.

  • jeffrey was the creator.

but michael jackson, made it famous, he brought it out, and became the king.

  • NO Jeffrey Daniels was not the creator of the moonwalk this was a street dance that was called a backslide in the 70/80's Jeffrey did it first on TV and Michael perfected it and made it popular if you see the footage when Jeffrey did his backslide it was ok but Michael made it more tight and smooth Jeffrey is a great choreographer but Michael is a better natural dancer he has more emotion and attitude and his moves are crisp plus he has a more wide range of styles of dance

  • well actually when you watch MJ's motown performance when he first did the moonwalk, it wasnt all that smooth. then in the same performance he did it again and it was smoother than the first one. he stuck with the second one.

  • The moonwalk actually has been around since the 50's.

  • True...youtube this: Bill Bailey (tap dancer) did a moon walk on tv in 1955.

Thanks to vimiu, I learned this! It's great history. Michael was excellent and a perfectionist in his dancing. Hats off to you, Michael for helping these dances become widely accepted. Mwah!

  • The moves existed years before jeffry....

  • Everyone learns from someone.

  • Do you'll hate James Brown becasue he inspired and/or taught Michael? If not, then why are you"ll putting down Jeffrey for teaching Michael to do the moonwalk . You'll malice toward Jeffrey doesn't make any sense!

MIchael is not God, its not a sin to give Jeffrey credit for teaching of the greatest entertainers on earth ! So give up to him that all. He deserves it.

Jeffrey never said he was better than Michael so why is everybody posting these irrelevant comment ???lol

  • Its ok if Jeffrey Daniel taught Michael some moves, Trust me on this! the world not going to end tomorrow because of it.

You"ll should be glad that Jeffrey inspired Michael, Come On! Think before you'll speak or post you"ll crap Lol

  • jd said it best when he said he learned alot from mj. how can you not? mj absorbed tons of coreography from hundreds of dancers and coreographers. he was a machine. he found a way to incorporate all of his favorites and he never said it was all his. he paid homage to all his idols through his dancing. its not all about he created this or that. its about michael perfecting the moves he learned. hes the greatest becuase he had dancing/singing talent and a stage presence like no other.

  • His shit is dull compared to MJ

  • Nuff said MJ is the KING!

    he is the best

  • I love JD!!

  • Jeffrey Daniel movie is shit n boring... Michael Jackson no man can dance like him. i don't care who started it but compare anyone to Michael...the answer is MICHAEL JACKSON

  • hell he started the movement

  • MJ learnt from James brown and some others

    but he created his own

    even james Brown said it.

MJ made his own dance. He is the best dancer, go watch his dance. His break dance, robots, moon walk r unbeatable

  • I respect your opinion, but he didnt make 90% of his moves. He had his own flavor, but most of the moves were taught by other dancers. Electric Boogaloos (poppin taco etc.) and many others !

  • thanks for replying but u see its MJ we know with those dance steps. he learnt from others but he 'signed' the steps to be his and today moonwalk=MJ

  • I listened to youtube to d director of BAD/Thriller...MJ wud practise for hours a new step thought till it bcame part of him

thats why he became a GENIUS @ dancing

  • jeffrey daniel taught him how to do the moonwalk (fyi: the real name is the backslide michael jackson named it the moonwalk)

  • if not that I came across Latoya talking about Jeffrey Daniel, I wud never know who he was. I dont care if he taught MJ steps. MJ started dancing like James brown and Francis A.(some name lyk hat) and he put his own flavour n perfected it.He had soo different moves.

if I do find that James Brown video about Mj's dance I will post it to u.

  • Jeffrey D may have taught MJ but Jeffrey D CANNOT dance like MJ.

MJ's moves r difficult to copy.

on the 30th anniversary video, MJ &Usher, MJ&his brova break danced there was soo much difference.

  • Alright so theres a ton of argument over the moonwalk. MICHAEL learned from MULTIPLE people how to do it. Jeffrey Daniel, Bill Bailey, and MARCEL MARCEAU. Marcel Marceau had the best version of the moonwalk for a long time, Michael started to do it and Marcel Marceau is said to have been quoted saying, "I will no longer do the moonwalk since Michael Jackson has perfected it" THUS MAKING THE ARGUMENTS RETARDED. MICHAEL LEARNED THE BASICS FROM PEOPLE, THEN TURNED THE MOVE INTO HIS OWN!!!

  • Which is what dancing is! Everyone learns from someone. Moves you see on a music video may seem original, but they are interpretations of others. The point is dance is progressive. You learn from someone, you add your own vibe and it passes down to someone else. Arguments that Jackson "copied" Daniel are stupid. He learnt from Daniel and then twisted it into his own thing. Just as Daniel learnt from those before him. People were doing moonwalks back in the 40s tap dancing scene.

  • where is the other part??

  • michael jackson is definitely not the greatest dancer, but he is the greatest performer (sing and dance)

  • are u fuckin retarded? its been said mike could see how to do a dance one time an have it down packed fact is everyone learns from some one, mike is the best dancer he's been a raw talent since 5 years old an MIKE DOES THE DANCES BETTER THAN ALL THOSE FUCKERS SO STFU DUMBASS,DONT MATTER WHO TAUGHT HIM HE MAKES IT HIS OWNS AN PUTS AN INCREDIBLE ENERGY WITH IT,THAT LOOKS BETTER THAN THE ORIGINAL,SO ARE U SAYIN JEFFREY DANIESLS CAN MOONWALK BETTER THAN MIKE?JUST STFU U FAIL

  • r u crazy michael was and always be the best dancer nobody can move like he did. R.I.P. MJ

  • @mono2013 did u see fred astaire dance? n boogalo shrimp dance?

  • Jackson is the best

  • mj has not competition and he´ll never have it so for those who claim that someone is better than him that´s a huge mistake

  • idiot

  • Salah

  • the argument isnt whether hes better or not :S the point is the moonwalk isnt his.

nor is it Jeffery's but comon jeffery taught it to MJ. MJ catted Jefferys styles clothes socks everything.

    R.I.P Bill bailey!

  • Jeffrey Daniel taught MJ, its his dance moves by in large that MJ copied.

  • don campbell is serious

  • Michael Jackson is the greatest full stop!

  • i hope mike and jeff get together to show this then Gen how to dance!

  • Brilliant programme!!
