I'm not a slipknot fan at all, ive kind of always ragged on them for not being "real" metal, but after hearing this guy talk, i do however have a great amount of respect for him and what hes done, its amazing how deeply i connect with some of the things he said about life in general and his childhood. I'll never be a maggot, but hes a fuckin solid and intelligent guy nonetheless.

@Fractal40 Contemporary metal is what Slipknot is. NÜ-metal is also a part of metal. Many old school metalheads think nu-metal isn;t metal. Metal didn't stop in the 80's or 90s. Metal still goes on.

As for Corey, well, he's one of the BEST vocalists in the metal scene. He can scream like a true demon, and his melodic voice is better than any full-time melodic singer.

I really disagree with the Nu Metal tag planted on Slipknot. Only 3-4 songs on their debut have rapping vocals and the rest of their albums have absolutely none.

I don't consider nu metal as a genre. I just consider it as a term that you use to explain influences from rap, hip hop and scratching. So i would say that slipknot is a death metal band with nu metal randomly thrown into it.

Years ago Corey was basically a drunk and while on tour they were at the Hyatt hotel and he was very depressed. He decided he wanted to jump off the balcony but thankfully his wife (i think it was his wife) was there to talk him down. Major turning point in his life from what i hear.
