  • In my opinion which isnt much, chiba is one of the best alive. Christian Tisser also stands out.

  • 1:03 MEAN!!!

    Very, very good.

  • Somethin about sincere attacks and a sincere response that makes me all warm and gooey inside.

  • I love listening to ignorant donkeys criticize a thoroughbred racehorse.

  • Well said

  • @AikiBarry

And you could not say it any better.

Thanks my Sensei was taught by Chiba Sensei,I hear so many stories

of the great man and Sensei.Sensei Chiba is a teacher worthy of great respect...

So Lezmos show some respect who gave his life to commit to teachings of O Sensei.

If you trained for just one day with my Sensei Im sure you would take back what you have stated. As Aikisalvo says.....'Silent' Your disrupting.lol

  • @AikiBarry did you ever train at toronto aikikai at all?

  • I dont know why but I have a feeling that Steven Segal had practice under Chiba shihan... it's just a strange feeling...

  • negative

  • they have the same kind of posture, I agree

  • yes observe the zanshin in kotegaeshi...

  • I would like to see him against an uncoperative Uke who does real attacks.

  • He used to break his students elbows back in the day. That's how we know that if you don't take propper ukemi you get broken joints, cuz it happens.

  • You take proper ukemi to make tori look good too. In aikido you dont face opponents you face cooperatives.

  • No you take ukemi because there's nothing else to be done. There is no "making tori look good" if tori doesn't do the technique correctly you keep your posture.

In Aikido you face Aikidoka. So uke uses Aikido to keep their posture as much as tori uses Aikido to try and throw uke.

There are times when I'm training with really senior people (3rd/4th dans) where uke might only take ukemi one out of three or four times because I'm not doing the technique correctly.

  • Go to the nearest Aikido dojo, try to resist and do "real" attacks and see what the instructor does. Please.

  • @AikiBarry

We had a guy like it came to our Dojo and amazingly kept trying to correct Our Sensei...Errrr wrong bad idea as he discovered he went home in a bad way i can imagine he was aching the next day after being thrown repetetively for the whole duration of the lesson.

But some people jammed in pilot mode never learn and some just never shut up. Until someone shuts them up.Sad really.

Sensei Chiba is sharing his great wisdom and knowledge and you get fools who dont have a clue

  • to say that about this demo is just stupidity plain and simple.

  • He'd still win. Why do you think the opponents cooperate? If they don't cooperate (roll with the attack, etc) they really get messed up.

  • i would like to point out that at 1:53 he asks uke if he is ok. and uke keeps going, now that's the way to train.

  • His moves have some serious force, very powerful. Not sure if I like how some of the audience laughed at the poor uke that took the hit with the thrust I believe they lack character laughing at someonelse's expense.I see that on mats all too often, what goes around comes around.Such is life. But overall very empressive Aikido!

  • Nice.

  • Aikido is about peace but if you dont train with intent then its not a martial art any more. Chiba sensei is showing the practicallity of Aikido here, and I think he does it wonderfully.

  • i don't think is about martial practicality.. ,treating your fellow partner like sh..t just to show off reveals your real caracter...i'ts easy to impress the crowd with your powerful force against an uke that have no real intent to harm you or use skilled swordmanship against you,

  • But if it was flowery, like a lot of the Aikido videos on here, then you'd have the usual comments from people saying how useless it is.

  • Legend is, he dropped his boken during this demo, and got really pissed at the uke. That you don't see on the video. 1984 NY

  • he is good but i don't like his attitude at all

  • the martial arts give calm to our spirits, THAT SEDUOAKIDO ISN'TPASIVE LIKE MORIHE'S AKIDO!!! AIKIDO IS FOR PEACE NOT FOT TO BE FAMOUS!!!

  • Yeah because Steven Seagal is an aikido practioner and yes aikido is very much a martial art

  • you are out of your mind. go to San Diego and tell Chiba sensei that yourself. we will all send flowers to your funeral.

something like? it is what The Great Pissed Off one studied ...

  • Who's the Uke?

  • Hard to tell, but I think Juba Nour.

  • I don't think i want to piss chiba sensei off... that guy is scaaaaaaaaarry.

  • and the Grand Canyon is a big hole in the ground.

shouldve seen Arikawa in Japan .... oh yeah, Aikido doesnt work. bahaahahaahahaha

  • chiba a great practioner of aikido.

  • Indeed so. Though, I'm a student of Saito sensei's school of training. And, have in the past trained under a school of of Chiba sensei's.

  • Lucky man. I should be so lucky, having said that my sensei has a great feel and is always looking to develop our students. So i feel lucky to be training under him.

Still it'd be great to study under saito or chiba. Enjoy.

  • Does he belong to young Saito, or Aikikai? I'm just curious. And, thank you. I do, the training is and was wonderful and gave me much experience. It is always good to have a Sensei who has a great feel and is always looking for new development. Enjoy your training as well.

  • we're under akikai, tho we've had sensei from other schools visit, as well as from jujitsu, he's quite insistent that we experience other sensei and different training methods.

i enjoy the contrasts i experience.

  • the real deal.

  • warrior spirit.
