  • I can hold a cross just long enough to get credit ;)

  • It took me 1 year to learn a cross, and I'm 15.

  • @Gymnast1496 We do not fucking care

  • @shenkeey can you do a cross? i dont think so :P

  • @Gymnast1496 I can, but it's the fact that you told how old you were. If you said something like ''Yay guys, I can finally do a cross after a year of practice! :D'' I wouldn't mind it, but now you just sound like a bragger :x

  • hu hu hu

  • AMAZING! But can somebody tell me what is the name of the song? I'll be thankfull!

  • i did this...for about 1/8 of a second

  • It's the fucking second coming.

  • don't hate cuz hes asian

  • wow this guy is fucking gay. 30 seconds? what a weak ass BITCH

  • im just now able to do a cross

  • so was that a win or a fail?

  • yuri van gelder would easly kick his ass! lol

  • see but there are bound to be like Chinese and Russian guys that could smash this attempt and the record, just that they dnt show it. i really cant see the world record at cross being that impressive.

  • @Brownieversion1 Not many people can do the cross for a few reasons. 1) They don't train for it, 2) they train improperly and train with bent arms (which is 100% easier), 3) they don't have the time to train for it. The cross in itself is not extremely impressive, but I doubt there are many random non-gymnasts who can do it (properly).

  • so...did he break it?

  • @ajkelly1991 No

  • What is amazing is the complete lack of any false grip.

  • No need to be rude...I've never used rings and at the moment can't find any. Besides, at my current weight of 94 kg I would never do the cross. But if I find rings, one of my ultimate goals is a 5 second cross at 85 kg.

No need to be rude... but he maintains position 22 seconds sharp. Not 30. And I seriously doubt this is the record. More than 1000% sure that Irodan Iovchev can beat that...twice, at least.

  • Right here, right now by fatboy slim

  • - It doesn't look that hard. But if the record is 30 seconds, it must be tough.

  • @GoOfHuNtEr your a fag.

  • bleh...the iron cross...i remember when my martial arts instructor decided this would be good for building arm endurance in hold...*cries*

  • That dude is freakishly strong. I have a set of rings, and spent the latter half of this past year just trying to work up to a cross, at all. Not there yet, goal for 2010 is to get to a good cross. This guy is out of this world tho, 30 seconds in a cross is just amazing.

  • His coach told me that he learned (the person in video) the cross in a month! haha...so yeah he is pretty strong.

  • ARGH can i please have the song name, it's fantastic!

  • I am not sure of the name but it's by Robert Miles (or Myles)

  • After some research I found it that It is "Right Here, Right Now" bye Fatboy Slim.

Just to let you know :)

  • @TheGymPress

Wrong. It's Fatboy Slim - Right Here Right Now

  • @TheGymPress No it isn't, it's "Right Here, Right Now" by Fatboy Slim

  • @TheGymPress

Right here, right now - Fat Boy Slim

  • @BouncingBrothers

It's Fatboy Slim - Right Here, Right Now

  • @BouncingBrothers Fatboy Slim "Right Here, Right Now"

  • @BouncingBrothers The name of the song is right here right now by fatboy slim

  • @BouncingBrothers Its Right here, right now by Fatboy Slim

  • @BouncingBrothers it's by fatboy slim - right here, right now

  • @BouncingBrothers song name is fatboy slim - right here right now, freemasons club mix

  • @BouncingBrothers fatboy slim - right here right now

  • @BouncingBrothers wow, are you serious, it's right here right now by fatboy slim how could you not know that.

  • @TheGymPress its all about determination and making sure you can get good time with your coach. ive been working with mine for only 2 months and my cross is only 10 degrees off.

  • @arman1008

Congrats, i was wondering how have you and your coach have gone about it? Like exercises, reps, Sets?

  • @TheGymPress Dont get me wrong, those last 10 degrees are really far and its on a set of rings meant for cross training (height wise, we dont use wrist supports or that stuff)

Our workouts used to be 10 dips, 10 shoulder dips, 10 pullups, 10 raised pushups, backlevers, muscle ups and penguin (straight armed) walks.

Then we moved onto skinning the cat repeatedly, pendulums, more backlevers, assisted crosses on full rings (assisted being strapped into resistance to remove weight) and muscle ups.

  • also rope climbs are great (30ft)

do ALL that 3 times (sets) XD

  • @TheGymPress and now we (only me actually, since i train with wrestlers who dont have a need for crosses) do assisted crosses by taking a band, holding one end in each ring, and putting our feet in it and doing reps of lowering, static hold, and pushing out. then testing our progress by getting on a set of rings that are significantly lower than official and trying to go out, hold it, and push back without assistance. That is when i hit the 10 degrees off mark and pushed out.

    hope this helps :)

  • @arman1008 oh and also when i said 2 months, i meant ive been doing gymnastics for two months (natural love found i guess) so i really am brand new to this, the cross i have only been doing for a month.

At home i also will strap into a assisted pullups rig and lower and back up.

HUGE thing i need to point out: I HAD SIGNIFICANT INJURY TO MY BICEP TENDON AT THE ELBOW FROM BAD FORM. MAKE SURE THAT YOU HAVE SOMEBODY WATCH YOUR FORM AT ALL TIMES AND HAVE A PROFESSIONAL COACH IF YOU GO UNASSISTED.

  • When I first saw this skill I thought, what, that doesn't look hard. Then I tried it...

  • haha..

  • those things take an unbelievable amount of strength to do. great gymnasts can do them upside down too. just to put it in perspective for people that lift weights: imagine doing shoulder raises with your own bodyweight. insane.

  • i've been there :)

  • wooo go patrick lol

  • What is the world record?

  • I believe its 22.9 seconds by Aratak Grigoryan

  • what is the world record???

  • this doesnt use enough core muscles to even be recognized

it mainly uses shoulders and lats

  • He needs to level off. He is like 5 degrees off, which doesn't really make it harder, just makes it look nicer :)

  • just to get an idea, how long does an Olympic athlete hold it for usually?

  • for a skill to be recognized i needs to be held for 2sec or more.

  • You have to have an insane amount of core strength to pull this off

  • more of shoulder and lats me thinks

  • I'd say you need tonnes of all 3 (shoulders, lats and core strength). The strength to maintain the stability starts from the core.

  • Pazza Pazza Pazza Pazza Pazza Pazza Pazza Pazza Pazza Pazza Pazza Pazza

  • nnnnnnooootttttttttttt bad...a monster...someone remembers atlanta 1996? yuri chechi had a PERFECT cross for 8-9 seconds.....impressive

  • i wonder how he could hold if he wanted to try

  • NO FALSE GRIP ! ! Wicked xD

  • name of song?

  • Name of the song is right here right now by the artist Fatboy slim

  • Thank you :)

  • this thing is great....every part of the body will get tense.

  • i did an ironcross for 1/10 of a second. does that count for anything?

  • yeah i agree. moltese's and iron crosses are probably the hardest moves on rings. so is inverted iron cross

  • actually, i think a victorian is, its an inverted maltese or inverted sallow.its very rare to see people do it cuz its super friggen hard!!!look up a Rodriguez, cuz hes the one that made it :D

  • one year at black jack invitational i saw this 16 year old do one it was amazing

  • @ImVOsogetitright You are right. It is a maltese except you are facing up instead of down. Basically you go into a cross and lean backwards until you are horizontal. Also, I think that almost nobody has really perfected it yet. I read somewhere that even Rodriguez gets point deductions even though he made it up.

  • I was asking in another video if this movement was hard to do, I finally got the answer here.

  • Dude, until you've attempted to do this yourself you'll never realise how difficult this really is. It's extremely tough.

  • They don't have to, 15° counts

  • your a cunt

  • what do you expect, bloody new zealanders...

  • australians and new zealanders hate each other lol

  • man, that guy is pretty strong! No false grip at all!

  • there is no way that is the record...does anybody know what it is???

  • The official record in the World Book of records is 22 sec, perfectly flat (as judged by a someone qualified) cross without deviation from the position. The record was set in something like 2002 i believe. I am sure that there are others out there who could do way more. However that is the official record.

  • o man i thought you were gonna say like a few minutes!! haha yeah i bet there is a few that could beat that

  • whats this song?

  • fat boy slim - right here right now is the song.

  • thats quality. great strength. however, look at Yuri van Gelder. he can hold it way longer

  • Hi mmalatroit

yeah Yuri van Gelder or Chen Yibing both would/should be able to smoke that record.

  • could you please tell me the song name if you know it?

  • im not gay but thats fukin amazing, and if i was gay which im not id suk him off

  • LOL

  • @ddccts :S

  • @ddccts k that's a little weird...just sayin'

  • @ddccts actually ya that makes you gay

  • @xodis9 listen mate hes the gay one for letting me do it... just dont bring down the masculin reputation of the sport with all this needless homophobia

  • @ddccts thats gay...

  • @ddccts u are sooo gay .... thats alot of information we dont need

  • Szilveszter Csollány, 2000 Sydney olympic gold medalist could do 32 seconds.

  • is he using a false grip? i cant really tell but it doesnt look like it, if hes not then WOW thats crazy haha

  • Hi

No he is not using a false grip. Which i agree make the attempt that much more significant and awesome.

  • There was a guy on the Navy team in the 80s who used to do amazing things. Cross with kids hanging on him. Things like that. He really had a different musculature. Like a dwarf from Tolkein or something.

  • my coach used to do 45 seconds

  • Hi

wow 45sec that is awesome!...beat the crap out of that record. Can he still do it? If so film him and lets get him that World Record title.

    45sec...that is awesome

  • no the world title has to be more than 45 seconds becuase i know gymnasts that work out in china as elites that can do more

  • the world record is actually 22.9 seconds, according to the guiness book of records website. Your form has right to get this record - for example, in this video the guy's arms are not perpendicular to his body.

  • chinese gymnast would kick that records ass. my coach is no 45 and can still do ten seconds

  • nice. i know someone else who is going to attempt to break the world record for longest cross in a few months.

  • Actually Patrick did break the world record, What Now started it's timer 2 seconds too late :)

  • sadly even though WhatNow started the timer late, for the record to be officially recognized (aside from having officials and stuff there) the last 5sec on this video would not be counted, as he started loosing his position, and the last 3 sec at least he is not is a technically correct cross. However, i don't want to take anything away from Patrick, he was amazing, i am personally still blow away. Wish him all the best for this season.

  • wow this guy is amazing. its awesome when kiwis break world records. mad props

  • As much as i don't want to say it, unfortunately Patrick was just shy of breaking the world record. Massive props indeed, especially since that was first and only attempt on the day.

  • What the crap?!? Who took this video? That me!!

  • Hello

I did, we met at on the day if you remember. I would have asked you for permission to post the video, but given that it was televised nationally, and it was a spur of the moment thing as an article/challenge for the Iron cross thing, i thought what the hell. Hope you don't mind.
