4:26 "praying mantis (tong long) greatest aspect is that life and death is irrelevant, one with their heart, whole heartedly concentrates to deal with the opposing enemy" (rough translation)
i.e tong longs key attribute is offensive style, you actually bash the back of your hand when training/conditioning till you feel no pain and till its hard. It's a aggressive and offensive style that you fight toward your opponent, blocking is pointless i.e mentality is don't use passive fighting tactics
I wonder about more footage, too. Can you imagine what was at that next floor after Kareem? It could either have been the objective Bruce and his pansy sidekicks were aiming for, or a martial arts warrior even deadlier than KAJ.
@CesMan83 Actually from what I understand. Kareem is supposed to be the last obsticle guarding the treasure. Bruce intended for this movie to be a metaphor for different Martial Arts Disciplines and adapting to styles.
Oh cool. What a damn tragic shame that Sifu Lee died so young. I would have LOVED to see the original "Game of Death" (instead of that crappy 1978 version). If Lee had lived to this day, what movies could Bruce have done? I say he would have very likely have done "Kill Bill".
@CesMan83 Oh, the possibilities. He'd be a frequent guest of Dana White at all UFC Events, the movies he would have done, etc. Lee is respected all over... Bodybuilding, Martial Arts, etc.
In Brazil they held Vale Tudo matches in which fighters fought both standing and on the ground using striking and submissions.
It's MMA with less rules, these events were held up to 20 years before Bruce was born. Not really that a head of his time. The Gracies spread Vale Tudo to the USA which or began to be called MMA a few years later.
Also look up Pankration. Bruce was far from the first.
@Th3NewDragon Your posted statement regarding mixed martial arts being introduced to the world prior to Bruce Lee is correct. Vale Tudo was almost a lost martial arts until it regained popularity by the Gracies in MMA tournaments . But, it was Bruce Lee who revived curiosity to the art as a whole during the 1970's. I believe the Gracies were successful in their venture due to the re-introduction of mixed martial arts by Lee in "Enter the Dragon."
Why did those other 2 fighters go on up the stairs only to get whipped (possibly even killed, it never said if they were just KO'd or not)? NOT that I'm complaining or anything, in fact it made it all the more interesting. It's just that they know the fighters will get progressively tougher as they move up floors, and they'd already gotten owned by Ji Han Jae? What made them think they stood a chance, especially against Kareem? LOL
I dig the dialogue and thought dubs in this one, but the others have a far more fitting background track for this fight. This one feels....plain. Somehow. Emotionally. The others have various songs that always tug at my heart strings..."end of movie fight" sorts of songs that end up being poignantly beautiful given this was both the movies -and- Lee's last fight.
notice how the sunglasses never fall or get knocked of his face if i was wearing glasses an bruce hit me not only would the glasses get knocked off but my face would go with them
There is no way Kareem wouldve got out of that choke.
Of course, Bruce didnt base out properly and thats why he got swept...but the amount of time he had the choke on for wouldve been enough for Kareem to tap/pass out.
I suppose its just a movie though at the end of the day.
Even though the fight scenes from the 1978 game of death are cut unlike this one i still believe the fight scenes are awesome and believe that Bruce should have continued working on Game of death insted of enter the dragon.
People rightly acknowledge Bruce's commitment to conditioning, training, and technique.
What people tend to overlook is how much Bruce "sells" a move to the actor he's with as well. If Bruce doesn't make his opponent look believable in the movie, no matter how good Bruce is, it would've sucked. But pay very close attention to how he 'sells' the hits he takes from Kareem.
THE BEST AND STILL THE GREATEST-- NOT ONLY HE'S A BASKETBALL PLAYER BUT HE WAS BRUCE LEES STUDENTS DON NOT FORGET TO CHECK OUT THE LAST DRAGON BRUCE LEEROY---JEET KUNE-DO
@RobbySmithTV those were the basketball style shorts of that era - lol - those were about the longest he had - pants can slow movement and Bruce wanted Him to realy move freely . he shows how the fighter with no Style can overcome every other popular classical styles - how to truely adapt - Lee was only 5'6 and about 135 at the time his hair is shorter - when it comes to combat - size is not greatly important
@HUNTER7697 Yep Bruce Lee's style was all about adaptation in his own words it was "Being like water". Thats why he was such a badass cuz he made a art out of exploiting the weakness of the different fighting styles. Bruce Lee was the original user of MMA because he took the strengths of the different styles and threw out the junk.
@DarkBioCloud Bruce would turn over in his grave if he knew what martial arts are about now. MMA is clearly a joke : opposing different fighting styles is completely dumb. l'm sick and tired of people saying Krav maga is better than Kung Fu or more useful. Bruce, if he were still alive, he would show everyone that the most important thing is not the art but the practicing person and what he makes out of his fighting style. Being like water, that's what it is!
@RobbySmithTV Well it was all Bruce Lee's thought's, so if you question the movie you question him. But that is what Lee wanted, to think for yourself. But it is funny to see such a tall man in such shorts.

@JUKEBOXX1990 Yeah you got that right. l mean every good fighters l've seen like Jackie Chan, Jet li', Tony Jaa, Samo Hung, none of them fight like he did.
@Heroinedown because none of them try to copy him. They have their own style's that makes them unique in their movies. Or else it'll just be a bunch of wannabe Bruce Lee like the bruceploytation or however you spell it.

Lol how does a ufc fighter beat that.. At any wieght.. The speed power and ridiculous precision. He shows some ground game at 7:25 lol as if he needs it.. To take an opponent down you leave an opening and he obviously knows how to exploit it..
The look on Bruce face at 2:09 is priceless. Rest In Peace Bruce and Brandon. Would have loved to meet and learn from you both maybe in the after life.

lls, nope I forgot all about chicken boo though! But they had an episode when there was a pilgrim dude hunting a turkey and it sounded just like Bruce lee!... You're Holy God was funny as hell *impossible?* anyway...peace!
People are often misguide by the fact that Kung Fu are just fanciful, useless stunts because Kung Fu practiser just love to showboat a lot. Actually, Kung Fu, or Wushu in particular, is everything. There are numerous strikes, takedowns, joint-locks and even submissions in its empty-hand techniques.
MMA cannot really be classified as a martial arts. It is just a sport with rules. Real martial arts have no rules, no limit. Anything goes.
I think that bruce must had anime in mind too for this movie because I seen my fair share of Martial arts action films and not one of them has character inner monologue during a fight, whereas certain anime shows like speed racer in the sixties and other stuff in the 70s had a lot of them.
When UFC first started it was style on style. Then it became just learn grappling with the Gracie, Shamrock, Coleman, Severn era. After that Maurice Smith and Vitor basically brought striking back. Then Tito brought weight cuttin and a full game. The sport evolves. Soon it became you have to do Wrestling/BJJ/Muay Thai to be a complete fighter. Then Machida comes along with straight up Karate and people calling it a mysterious style, Lol.
Yes I said the same thing to someone else a few days ago. However the fact that Machida is one of the only few people that use any MA besides BJJ and wrestling ticks me off about the UFC.I mean honestly some of the best fighters in the world know karate or kyokushin karate wing chun etc..I think Dana White scared his BJJ fighters are gonna get taken down by someone else other than a wrestler.

The Earth being a flat was the truth too

Yes I said the same thing to someone else a few days ago. However the fact that Machida is one of the only few people that use any MA besides BJJ and wrestling ticks me off about the UFC.I mean honestly some of the best fighters in the world know karate or kyokushin karate wing chun etc..I think Dana White scared his BJJ fighters are gonna get taken down by someone else other than a wrestler.
