This guy is talking shit, and after 18 months of no new model in sight, you`d think he`d take this embarrasing video down
I bought the d700 in jan10, but was wondering whether or not to wait for its replacement, and 18 months later........FUCK ALL HAS CHANGED
If you think nikon will produce a lower model than the d3x, but with the same sensor and mp, you are delusional. It would damage d3x sales. Do you seriously think nikon would produce a camera with even slower buffering than the d3x?
@snifnscratch relax dude, dont have a hissy fit, it was just speculation at the time, many photographer thought this would happen at the time, obviously it didnt
@QQQQcon Within the next year/year-and-a-half, nikon will have a new fx model below the d3x. It will have 18-21mp, share the d3s/x body, and sit between the d3x and d3s. The d3s will remain for a year or so, just to keep sports/wildlife shoters happy.
If this doesnt happen, you would rightly be entitled to say that I am the one now talking shit!!!
Do these guys even follow Nikon at all. It's already out and as he said it is much of the camera he predicted it would be with a few exception. BTW it shots over 10 per sec. Great camera D700 Nice work Dude!
I would agree with you QQQQcon. Nikon is there to cover the whole spectrum of its camera lineups. The so called updated version of the D700 will probably be like the new D7000 but in a FX format and magnesium body. It will have between 14 megapixels to 16 megapixels with 1080i HD mode. Most camera stores aren't even carrying the D700 and very little of the D300s because the new D700 will be coming out the first quarter of the new year. Price to be said around $3,200-$3,500 U.S.
this is why Nikon will come out with something like the d800
Specs on the Nikon P100 this being a point and shoot they are testing the market
1st. From a business they have to come out with some to counter the 7D( I have the D90 by the way)
New Full HD movie with stereo sound and HDMI output Full 1080p HD movie recording at 30fps made better with stereo sound built-in microphone, dedicated movie-record button and HDMI output for easy in camera playback or on your TV or computer
@dez5 I think he is down in the creek with some chain saws cutting down trees in the background! Hey, maybe he just needed to get out of the house, and the garage and local park were not available! Good review and info though!
ok dig, nikon would not make a d700x/d800, for these reasons. By releasing such a camera, nikon would completely slaughter the sales of the d3x. a camera that had a 24mp sensor and sold for half the price of the d3x, would be suicide for their flagship camera. on top of that, many nikonians, including me would just buy the d700 whose price would be severely reduced so although a d700x would be awesome, nikon's sales analysts would have to be on crack to advise to do so.
Well thats what canon did. I see where you are coming from, frankly I also believe that the camera will not have the same sensor but an 18 mega pixel sensor.
nikon d700 - low light, speed, high iso, great for action, news, night photography
nikon d700x - amazing detail and color, better low iso performance, more suitable for landscapes and portraits
i just dont know if its actually coming out, i heard the 700x is just a rumor. hopefully it isnt, i love landscape photography and will print very large so 24.5 MP would be amazing!!!
it will come out eventually, possibly feb. and they say it is going to be called the nikon d900 now. I no longer think it will have the same sensor as the d3x but and 18 mega pixel sensor.
The D700 is not good for action at all. Unless you're using an MB-D10 with it and running it at 8 fps. The D3 would definately be a better choice if you're shooting action. (Comparing just the D700 body to the D3)
However, that being said, the D700 is amazing in low light. And the noise handling on it is superb. All depends on what you plan on using the camera for.
And thanks for the videos QQQQcon, they're very well put together. Keep it up.
How come they won't make one according to the D3s? I would prefer better high iso performance over mp any day, but I would believe many would enjoy the incredibly sharp 24.5mp from the D3x...well, either way Nikon can't lose. Go Nikon!
which way would be the better option to go with..a canon 5d mark 2 or a nikon d700 or hang out for the next release of nikon which you have stated here?
@Bobonom The D3x is mainly targeted for those who who are medium format shooters that costs many times more than a D3x. But like any pro Nikon, the AF is lightning fast and accurate.
The D700x/D800 is going to be a reality, probably sometime this fall or winter. What I'm hoping it will have this time around is the Full HD video, and dual card slots like the D3 :)
No way it's going to have dual card slots. They're going to keep that as the must-have pro feature to force pros to upgrade to the D3X. The D700 is the sweet spot. The D800 will be 'that weird camera Nikon released back when it was trendy to put video into SLR bodies'. Get a D700 now. It'll be worth more when they discontinue it. "The last of the V8s" as Mad Max would say. Who really needs 20+ MP anyway? The more pixels, the more space between and around the pixels, and hence wasted sensor area.
Yeah it's more likely they won't include it. Hence the D3/D3X. I own a D700 and D3 at the moment and those are great cameras. But using a D3X for commercial print is awesome, just the 8k price tag is nuts. I'd rather spend that amount on more lenses or additional SB-900 speed lights. The ones who would need more than 12mp are guys like me, who tend to print oversize or very wide with more room to be able to crop.
But I agree about the file sizes with bigger megapixels, using cameras like a Hasselblad H3D will guarantee you to buy additional drive, if not two. As for video, it would be nice but not needed, I don't shoot HD video but traveling to places like Thailand or Africa would be nice to shoot a little FULL HD from time to time when I'm not shooting subjects :)
I have a Canon HV20 for HD video, which I would prefer to use rather than an SLR. Shallow depth of field would be nice, but 1080p cine mode on the Canon HV series is pretty cinematic.
I agree, Nikon sort of fell a bit short with the D700, and thus to whet the appetite of the more advanced photographers, a D800 is inevitable. It would be commercially foolish for Nikon not to pursue this.

they do it is the nikon d700, same 12.1 mega pixel sensor as the nikon d3.

the 7d is going to kill the d300s
so nikon needs to step it up big time beacuse sony just came out with the a850 with 24mp FF at 2000

the next NIkon. Nikon d800/d700x.
Nikon > Canon always. More refined and solid, if a little behind features-wise.
What annoys me about canon is "MOre megapixels = betterer!" which is wrong.
Lens and Sensor always makes te best pictures.
GO nikon matey you wont regret it

Really? The D3X is a lot sharper than de 5D mark II by Canon? Are you sure?

yes It is. not crazy noticable but it is sharper.
