I had a Corelle plate randomly break while sitting on a table yesterday. It had not been dropped or even bumped. No hot or cold items had been placed on it; just a room temp BLT. Have had this set for over 16 years- so maybe they just spontaneously explode after so long? Glad it wasn't under my face at the time, tiny shards of glass flew from it as the "bottom' dropped out.
My corelle plate was just sitting on the table and randomly broke. It just happened now, that's why I looked online to see if this happened to anyone else.
wait until the day it does break and it will explode like a grenade throwing millions of razor sharp shards all over the place. ive never seen anything like it, have now had it happen 3 times. bloody ace if you have children. once was a mere 2ft or so off a coffee table whilst standing in bare feet and then picking corelle out of my foot whilst the bits want to keep breaking off, im now banning these in my house. way too dangerous.
obviously, it's dropped, not THROWN DOWN. if you threw it down, it it will break. for those unbelievers, a normal person wouldn't throw down a plate on purpose. these plates are designed to resist shattering by ACCIDENT. if you do it on purpose, with BRUTE force, of course, it will break.
Is this video a joke? I just broke a corelle soup dish. It barely fell three feet and it fell onto a linoleum padded floor. The dish shattered into a million pieces. I cut my hand on the tiny, tiny, tiny glass shards. This is not the first time one of my corelle dishes broke and in the same way. What a disaster. I wouldn't want children, or pets around if these break. Getting rid of my set!!!!!!!!!!
Definitely not unbreakable!! Just dropped a corelle soup dish and it shattered into a million pieces. It was like a bomb going off. This was not the first time this happened either. I have linoleum floors and this should not have happened. Cut my hand from the tiny, tiny, shards. Getting rid of my set.
13 years in service was not bad at all lol. My partner actually break one plate also after this video, she tries to do a reenactment, and it was an epic fail haha
i just broke a big correle white bowl, it was stacked under 15 other bowls and they all fell on the floor, it broke their fall and saved all the other bowls (some corrrele some crystal!) I think it broke because of the weight of them all, this was the first one to break on me in 20 years, my family has always used them.--im 20 now. lol
my question was about the temperature not weight. :) would you know by any chance? I am planning to do the chicken roast in a corelle dish but hesitant cause i might go in to take the dish out, and it may blast. things like that can happen so wanted to be sure.
cool video. that video response doesnt have anything on that guy dropping it on cement. That is scary cuz corelle is break resistant not breakproof! its glass!
my brother and i often use them in the oven at 350 to melt cheese on pasta for about 15 min. U should be fine, they say no stove top no broiler on them, so as long as ur under 500 degrees i dont see a problem.
We make about 100000 pieces a day and believe it or not less than 1 percent break . and I'm pretty sure we treat them far worse than the average family does.
When they do break, watch out. They break into pointed shards. What was interesting when I was a kid (and had a habit of dropping my plates) is that they didn't seem to break on the first hit. They broke on the 2nd hit after the first bounce. And they seemed to explode into pieces.
if ur corelle breaks bring the pieces bak to ur local cornigware store and they will replace it for free

This product is BS. I had a bowl sitting on my bar fridge (80cm tall)
I bumped it, bowl fell off, landed on Jarrah wooden floorboards and shattered into a million little pieces.
Ironically the one part that didn't break was a chunk with the iconic words on it.
