So in other words, they realize if they go all the way all they'd get is the kind of arms race with Israel, Saudi Arabia and others that ended up bankrupting the Soviet Union. That actually makes sense as long as technically once you get to enrichment going the rest of the way could be done in time to acually deter in a crisis. I don't think that becoming nuclear is a way for Iran to balance out power. 1 Iran needs a regime change and a different religious attitude that doesn't breed their young to be murder minded. 2 Iran needs to stop trying to be a center of the worlds attention and play a smaller role. sometimes by trying to attain smaller things make good things more attainable.
