  • Chris While is awesome. I'm going to look into her own music. What a voice. Sounds like Sandy at her best -- though Sandy's soul came through her voice, and that can't be duplicated.

  • ........ it sadly does not capture the atmosphere (mind you what video would)...One of the most memorable concerts ever!! I was so lucky to have been there right at the front!...thank you for posting as I only have a crappy phone upload!!

  • Great to see Swarb back on his feet. Great music!!!!

  • To me, simply stated and without a doubt , Sandy Denny has the most gorgeous voice of the 20th century . period . I have felt this way since 1st hearing her in 1970 - I don't know who is even close . She was / is that magnificent . and This woman is doing a great job here . Thanks

  • See Fairport at Twickenham Live Room - 19th March 2011 at 20.30. Tickets £20.00 on the door - with 100% of all profits going to give musical instruments to local school children.

  • Is there a decent video regisration available on dvd of the whole concert??

It was really great performance... and Chris While sings so so beautiful!!!

  • @Gooseberry51 There is, but the right issues are very complicated. One day it might be released. There is, somewhere, a recording of the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards performance, which was pretty good.

  • Great job ....

  • And Thomo not even 20 when he wrote 'Farewell'! - makes every hair on the back of my neck stand up every time I hear it.

  • Go Swarbs - you're da man - always was and always will be.

    Thanks farnishk.

  • I would so much have liked to have seen them at Maidstone in 1970, but i hadn't been born. No way would I go to see them now, if this video is an accurate representation.

  • jatsar is right....that 2007 concert is a bunch of 60 year old hippies and has nothing to do with 1969...if it did, it would have Sandy Denny....false advertising.,..boo..hiss

  • @DickPoleman I totally agree!!!

  • @DickPoleman What a graceless, fatuous, idiotic comment. The bunch of 60 year old hippies are the people who wrote most of and recorded the original album and, although Sandy is irreplaceable, Chris While does a great job. Come to think of it, I don't know why I'm bothering to reply to such an obvious knob-head.

  • @DickPoleman Are you always such a tit ?

  • Vocalist Chris White sounds as close to Sandy Denny as anyone I've heard

  • Thanks for bring back all the memories

  • An interesting "back to the future" concert, and great to hear the sounds sounding just as intriguing as in those long ago days, not so long ago.

  • Poor Swarb. I often wonder how Richard feels about Crazy Man Michael though, and I'm surprised he doesn't burst into tears when he plays it.

  • close your eyes and you'd think it was 1969. what an iconic band!

  • Just to have Swarbs back is a wonderful gift.

  • I would have flipped right out!!!

  • Thanks to Chris White for an exceptional performance. No-one will ever replace Sandy in our minds but Chris brought us all close to her again.

  • Who is te lady singing, she has a very nice voice, who is he?

  • Chris While

  • Take this for what it is and enjoy it. It represents the enjoyment of the audience and a celebration of Fairport Convention. It is never going to be a spot on profesional recording of the event simply because of the limitations of a handheld camera.

If you don't understand why Fairport fans want it here, then come along to the Fairport winter tour they do every year, or the Cropredy festival at the Autum bank hol. and see what they can do in person!

  • Hey, what a great day you're having - found anyone else to share your misery with?

    :-D

  • @jatsar

    Knob.

  • @jatsar

If you have to ask, you wouldn't understand. Go away and listen to Justin Bieber - he's more your age grouping.

  • Really -- the most amazing bunch of folk rock musicians the world has ever seen.

  • FC 's way of papering over 'musical differences' and including former members (since they play in a small pool) is wonderful.

    may they thrive

  • this was amazing

    the whole weekend ruled

me, my gf, a whole load of quality ale and the 1969 fairport line up

    not every 17yr olds dream..

  • Brilliant! Some of these songs just have to be sung be a lady!

  • The "Farewell" makes me well up ....Sandy.

  • Wish I had been there

  • Thank You

  • Curious, how the voice of the singer brings back the 'Sandy Denny-atmoshere'...

Bravo ! Thanks for this video, it's so special !

  • Timeless!

  • I sure hope you folkers told your grandchildren! ;-)

  • What a thrill... she has a lovely voice. And as for the musicians, well... it really is nice that when the stars align, they can still get it together. Wish other bands would take a cue from them.

  • Does anyone know what liege and leif means?

  • It means 'Loyal and Ready' in Middle English.

  • Thanks!!!

  • Just beautiful...

  • Do you mean the one from Broughton Castle, or more recently?

  • wow! Takes me back. Loved every minute.Just wish I could have been there. Maybe next year

  • Awesome, just awesome.

  • I stopped going to Cropredy years ago, but I have to admit, I would have loved to have seen this. It's the sound I associate with Fairport the most.

  • Aw, it was great to see Swarb back up and about on his pins again. Not a dry eye in the house... er, field. Whatever. Thanks for posting!

  • I wish I'd been there. Makes my tummy tingle thinking about it. Chris W was the perfect choice to be the Sandy Denny for the night.

  • Great post. Best Cropredy ever. What a way to spend a Friday evening!

  • Thanks so much for uploading this so I had the chance to see it again. Truly wonderful, this was absolutely the most magical concert experience I've ever had.

  • as a drummer being at this festival was mind blowing any guitarist and violin play that can play that melody i'd wanna jam with

  • Goosebumbs!

Hope Sandy is smiling down on this somewhere. Chris did well, tricky job.

  • Hey has anyone got the "Matty Groves" track with Sandy Denny as the lead female vocalist?

  • man i went fukin ape it was my first cropredy and i am 12 years old i was at the front the hole time great time and yummy doughnuts

  • Indeed Ms While sounds fantastic. You are some lucky people who were at this show.

  • Chris While did a good job with Sandy's vocals. Thanks for the magnetic memory.

  • Fantastic- a great job once again from Mr FarnishK

    thanks :0)
