Perfect example of cold reading. Say as many general things as you can and let the listener pick out the hits. Of course, they tend to forget you threw out much more misses. NOBODY has psychic powers, it's all a put on, a scam. It has been tested and proven NOT to exist.
@UnderManlac :::Do you even know what cold reading is? He hit on one thing right after the other. This whole program refutes your statement that there are no psychic powers. Please try to hide your ignorance just a little more. Who proved there are no psychic powers? You?
@k0smon Yes, I do know what cold reading is. Cold readers often can hit on several things, they throw out a lot of stuff and will eventually hit on something, then they can focus on the successes and make them more specific by reading body language.
The onus of proof is not to disprove psychic abilities, the onus is proving them. No one has ever, conclusively, proven that psychic powers exist. After thousands of tests, not one has proven any psychic powers whatsoever.
@UnderManlac ::: Denial is one of the mainstays of skeptics. I can offer you evidence, but 'proof' is in the eye of the beholder. It will never be proven to you because your mind is already made up. Just as you cannot hand me a gallon of electricity, I cannot offer you physical proof of that which is essentially spiritual. One of the best 'proofs' of psychic power is statistical, way above chance. But you won't accept that as 'proof' because it has not been peer-reviewed, etc etc.
I don't think you understand the meaning of the word "proof". See, proof is empirical evidence that is subject to peer review and thus confirmed as fact. Nothing of psychic ability has ever been proven in this this infallible, scientific and neutral-minded way.
@k0smon He does NOT approach the subject in a scientific manner. The 7 ways to get empirical information rely solely on "psychic information". NDE's. OBE's, and Remote viewers have been proven false. not enough room to explain further. The rest rely on "psychics". Not ONE of these are scientific instruments. So, his "scientific proof" is nothing more than oxygen deprived brains, dreams, for knowledge, and shysters providing his proofs.
@k0smon If it were, however, I like many other skeptics would give credit where it is due. We don't oppose this merely for the sake of opposing it. We oppose it because it is not proven by fact, has no regulating body, there are some shysters in the psychic community who prey on vulnerable, gullible people and are in it for the monetary gain can be used in a very harmful, life-threatening ways (ie. psychic surgery).
@ciaobellakate Also, follow Dan Browne's videos on here. He has a fantastic series. He is a very adept illusionist and easily convinces people he has psychic powers. He can out do any psychic with a high level of accuracy (outshining any of them). He is not psychic though. He knows how to read people and how to manipulate them. He's doing it for entertainment and educational purposes. He's truly amazing.
@k0smon I choose to follow a life based in reality. You say I can't give you a gallon of electricity, true, because it cannot be quantified in such a way. However, I can prove it exists, as all of our electrical and electronic equipment operate by it's supply. I have known others who have gone to psychics and they were NEVER able to predict any future outcome. The personal things they got was generalized and could apply to most people. No real hits.
@UnderManlac ::: The reality of an afterlife can be proved by NDEs, psychic contacts with the dead, even ghosts. It is in the category of metaphysics; out of the realm where it can be proved by any physical test.
I have had a number of 'readings' in my lifetime, and do not find them useful, so I no longer seek them.
Randi's million dollar challenge is just another of his tricks, he has no risk of losing his money. Psychics have been tested at the U. of Arizona. These TV programs test psychics.
@k0smon One was so bad that she got NOTHING right about my mother. It's all fraud. Why has no one ever accepted and won the 1 million dollar challenge? There is nothing conclusively supporting psychic powers. Uri Geller was a scam artist. Sylvia Brown is no better. She tells the world she is the most powerful psychic, this is a self labeled title, yet her misses outnumber her hits. Scientific tests have been conducted and nobody has been able to show true psychic powers.
@UnderManlac ::: True psychic powers have been demonstrated for 150 years, check out the reports of the Psychical Research Societies. Also, psychics win the contests on these TV shows, so there is something to it.
Your denials do not change the facts. So you do not wish to accept any proofs; that is strictly up to you. More rational people see the reality of psychic abilities and the reality of life after death.
@k0smon Actually, no psychic powers have ever been demonstrated and proven. People can be very adept at faking such powers. Look at magicians, they fake powers all the time, but we know they are fake. Uri Geller faked his way to fame.
Every check out any German claims to psychic powers? There is no scientific testing being done. If you test them and they fail, they come up with an excuse, but maintain their powers are real.
No, psychic power do not exist. Quit deluding yourself, and others
@UnderManlac ::: Not quite. They are demonstrated all the time. Proven? No. Had that happened, you would not be questioning that they exist. Do not make a liar out of yourself by saying they do not exist. Say instead that in your opinion they do not exist. Since it has NOT been proven that psychic powers do not exist, you cannot accurately make the statement they do not exist. Follow your own reasoning and stop trying to delude yourself and us by trying to make us think there is neg. proof.
Well if they haven't proven to be psychic powers how can they have been demonstrated if we can not confirm or deny their existence?
You can't argue that the statements "Psychic powers have been demonstrated" and "We don't know if psychic powers exist" can be both true because the demonstration of something implies it's existence.
@k0smon Demonstrating psychic powers is happening all the time. It is a demonstration, but it is done fraudulently. When tested, there have been no conclusive proof that these people have genuine psychic powers. Nobody has been able to claim the million dollar challenge, though many have tried. The tests are simple, agreed upon by both parties with controls in place to eliminate the possibility of cheating. Nobody has been able to prove psychic powers exist.
@TheStarfox567 Demonstration is not proof. I can demonstrate psychic powers through fraud quite easily. Just look at Uri Geller, ALL of his claims are fraudulent. There are a lot of examples of faked psychic powers. However, there has never been any test that proves psychic powers exist at all.
@TheStarfox567 ::: Proof is in the eye of the beholder. What is proof to me would be dismissed by you. I believe psychic powers are real, you do not. I never said "We don't know if psychic powers exist" because I believe they do exist.

Until proven beyond a shadow of a doubt, psychic powers do NOT exist. This means that all controls to eliminate cheating are in place and it still works.
@UnderManlac ::: That is an inaccurate statement that they do not exist. There are people who are satisfied that they do exist. "Beyond a shadow of a doubt" is not demanded by ordinary people, only die-hard skeptics.
@k0smon It is the skeptics who expose these frauds. My mother and sister believe in this stuff, yet when my mother went to a psychic, the charleton got EVERYTHING wrong. I asked my mother why she paid her if she had everything wrong. If I were there I'd have not paid her one red cent. And she is/was a celebrated psychic on cable access TV. She has the power to bilk innocent people out of their hard earned money.
I have yet to see any proof of true psychic powers. They simply do not exist.
@UnderManlac ::: I repeat myself: Because you have not seen the proof of true psychic powers does not mean they do not exist. I have had a number of readings myself and find them to be useless and at times misleading. I do not intend to have another. But I do recognize the reality of their abilities. Not even you are 100% accurate all the time.
@UnderManlac ::: Your reasoning reminds me of the man with 100 white cats. He states: 'All cats are white. Just look." And you see his 100 white cats. The question is, how many black cats do I have to produce to prove him wrong?
