although the show has some awesome scenes, I really can't stand the fact that knowledge is treated as lame and awkward. Sheldon had a good point here as he always has and Penny treats him as if he's an idiot, forcing him to lower himself to her stupid level. Kite Ho. Every time he gets treated as such. I find such trivia fascinating and interesting. Sometimes Penny's a real bitch being condescending to Sheldon, especially when she's proven to be stupid like here in this clip. She ignores it.

@viridismonasteriense It's what's wrong with how our society treats people that do well academically. They are the "geeks" and the football type people are the heros. Makes no sense to me. In advanced countries education is treated as a privilage and the most important part of a person's life. After living in Asia and then coming back to America, I was shocked to see how American kids, on the whole, treated education. As though it's too much work and something to get out of doing.

The ones that 'know stuff'' know so because they've spent time studying, learning, paying attention, mostly in one area: to become an expert at something you have to focus almost obsessively. Those football type people train their bodies like geeks train their minds. I get it. However, a greater understanding of the universe appeals to me much more.

Of course there are all psychological reasons for the geek to bury himself in his work and the jock to mock him for it. Social standards.

Of course knowing stuff on its own doesn't cut it. Action matters. But our actions are inspired by our ideas and thought processes. Realization through investigation.

That's why I intensely dislike Penny's attitude towards Sheldon in this clip. I've grown to appreciate her character more, but that dislike hasn't changed.
