  • divina i love her

  • unusually refined singing for these days, great range of expression and modulation of voice - bravo!

  • well,she has a goog technique,but her voice was never been dramatic.sorry,but it isn't a Verdi mezzo.

  • @ApostolMilenkov I doubt she's a mezzo at all (is there a light mezzo?). Her fellow singer Anna Netrebko sounds more mezzo than her.

  • Elina is probably the finest mezzo suprano in the world and she adds to To this piece not detracts from it

  • Everybody wants to be a dramatic mezzo-soprano. But she is not. So she should sing her repertoire, the repertoire for her and not spoil Verdi's masterpiece.

  • INCREÍBLE! UNA DE MIS ARIAS PREFERIDAS, TODOS LOS ADORNOS PERFECTOS Y TODOS LOS TRINOS IMPECABLES1

  • To all you critics who say she shouldn't be singing Eboli, I'd say probably not at present. However, she is sensible enough to know that and there's a great difference between singing one aria in concert and doing the entire role. One can enjoy an excellent performance nevertheless.

  • I love Garanca but I didn't like it.

  • She is not a Verdi mezzo, I do not imagine her as Eboli, her Giovanna Seymour in Anna Bolena was really good though, she should stick to Donizetti and Rossini but Verdi?... Maybe 10 years later...

  • such a tragedy

  • Yes, lovely lyric approach, but it is not really Verdi style. Maybe many years from now if the voice gets thicker.

  • @ploplisphilin Well, maybe so, but this is a fine presentation. A lyric interpretation here is splendid in its own way. I love this performance. .

  • hmmm. not right for this role i think. dont get me wrong every mezzo that sings eboli doesnt needs to be a full blown dramatic mezzo or have that super steely italian bite to her voice (troyanos comes to mind), but garanca does not strike me as an eboli. still very lovely sung, maybe if she did the french version id think differently

  • Awesome mezzo, love her work. Don't take this the wrong way, but she doesn't really strike me as an Eboli. Sure, I bet she could do it, it's just that I don't think it suits her voice very well. Traditionally it's done by more dramatic mezzos or at least more lyric mezzos that regularly did Verdi and had more of an edge to their sound.

  • Quand une ETOILE aussi étincelante apparait au firmament de l'art lyrique

    On se réjouit

On l'aime,on l'adore et on ne la critique JAMAIS

Les grincheux devraient se regarder dans un miroir tous les matins et réfléchir

  • I don't like her timbre... I prefer Fiorenza Cosotto - her Eboli is marvellous

  • I have admired Garanca'a voice growing from strength to strength in recent years but, at this stage, I personally wouldn't like her to tackle Eboli. Her voice is excellent and she seems to have made wise repertoire choices so far but - and this is a personal opinion - I would like to hear her voice grow/settle a little bit more before she tackles anything heavier. However, I do admire her Carmen, where she has avoided pushing the middle voice ... so far! Such a great musician though. Brava!

  • marvelous...interpretation,voice ,looks, ...everithing...only jelous can talk oposite...

  • oh, i expect her to sing the whole role pretty soon, i think she has the voice for a boli... i think it´s just a matter of time for her voice to grow a little more and to gain more weight for her not to push so hard... BUT JUST IMAGINE A DON FATALE WITH THIS WOMAN!!!!

    ahhhh, I CAN´T WAIT!!!!

  • The new bel canto...10/10********

  • Sorry, she's definitely NOT Eboli.

  • 4:32, what a magnificent La!

    Elīna is a marvelous mezzo!

She masters the show, all the time, either by the voice or by the artistic presentation!

  • This is so divided - extremely bland and cold, or creamy and terrific.

My opinion? Compare her to great old mezzos and she's nothing special.

Compare to potential Ebiolis still living and singing, still on today's stage, she's one of the best it gets.

It is a great recording, but she certainly has not perfectly sung true to the music, there is room for improvement.

  • She is too cold for this piece, did not make me feel anything.

  • @tcradical as always

  • @cantanteporsiempre Hahah, that's true!

  • This is absolutely wonderful!! I have often listened to Callas's masterclass where she was teaching this aria and sang bits of it. It was so damned beautiful, even when that wreck of a voice. Garanca sings it almost exactly as Callas demonstrated in the masterclass, and I strongly suspect she listened very carefully to it. It's luscious, seductive, playful, elastic, and like Callas, she actually makes this sound Spanish. This is what I have wanted to hear for years and Garanca has done it.

  • Garanca is Ghaccio Bollente - boiling ice! Such a powerful voice, such a dedication.

Would she sing Wagner? That would be a nuclear experience .........

  • Brava Garanca!!

Maravilhosa! Bravíssima!!!

  • im afraid this is not flawless :( She should have paid a little more time above her piano ;)

  • All in time,.....so hold in the horses!!!!!

    Or something like that...

La Garanca...such a gifted person, looks, voice, musicality...what do we want more????

    Brava....5 stars.

  • ha sbagliato qualche nota :)

  • That last note made me think "Well, maybe she can sing dramaic roles!" SHe has a lovely creamy voice.

  • this is just as lovely as it gets.

made me decide to go see don Carlo next year, though I know I'll be disappointed by the mezzo, can't compare any other with Elina...

  • I agree with you 100% - she is terrific. She's just about the best mezzo singing now. Her 'Bel Canto' CD is excellent too; she does a great job on Elisabetta's aria in Stuarda, 'Quando all'ara scorgemi' on the CD. Plus she's lovely to behold!

  • Elina, dès qu'elle chante, donne beaucoup de plaisir (surement sa voix de velours). Les criticailleurs ne pourront pas freiner sa montée au firmament des cantatrices.

  • i hope that this heavy role does not damage her voice...would be great to see her singing a part of Amneris!

  • you say you hope heavy roles don't damage her, ans suggest amneris! haha, sorry, nothing wrong, i just thought it was quite funny.

  • I see one of the greatest Ebolis in her. And she'll sing this role, I'm sure, as she's already said this is one of the roles she definitely wants to sing soon. Her luscious and rich voice fits this sexy and very dramatic role perfectly, since it has both the sensual velvet and the darker sounds necessary to the role.

  • i know right? o don fatale/o don fatal would be AMAZING for her.

  • Elle est vraimant étincelante

    La forme est revenue

    Elle irradie bonheur plaisir volupté

  • Garanca is one of the mezzos of this day!

    Looks amazing also.

  • Very nice
