  • Well done:) So great to see this style around!!!

  • I like that sound !! What type of the Alumintone pickup is it ?

  • Thank you for listening to my songs, This is a standard Single Alumitone Pickup which I bought for half price on Fleabay. It has a very clean, uncoloured sound which I like.

    James.

  • bom, muito bom

  • Obrigado por ouvir minhas músicas.

    James.

  • that was fantastic, love the sounds you put out on your lap steel. i am currently building one, what is the best scale lenghth to use.i was originally going to build a six string but have just decided on 8.

  • Bluescat, My Teisco is a 22 and 1/2 inch scale, the rest are 23 inch. I built a 24 inch Twin neck and didn't like it, so I stick to 23 inch.

James. Thank you for listening to my songs.

  • love it, love it.all the way from tasmania ,australia.love hank snow he was the greatest! my only regret is i never got to see him in person.to me ,i can only describe his voice as velvet.AND THE NEXT BEST THING TO THAT IS YOUR PLAYING thank you from lesley

  • Thank you for listening to my songs

    James.

  • wow, That sounds great. I was thinking of putting a Alumitone Humbucker (split) It in a lap steel that I'm building. How do you think a humbucker in the bridge position would sound in a lap steel? Thanks for posting.

  • Thank you for listening to my songs.

The Alumitone Humbucker would sound great in the bridge position, although I have to point out the single coil Alumitone does not transmit any hum either, they are not like any other Pickup on the market, there is no large copper coil of wire to generate hum its a different concept altogether. I bought mine cheap on Fleabay.

    James.

  • Thank you for listening.

    James.

  • Really enjoy the STEEL !!!!!!!! great sound !

  • Thank you for your kind words.

    James.

  • That has to be the best tone I have ever heard from any lap steel!!

  • Thank you for listening to my songs, I have a National Dynamic Replica which I think is even better tone.

    James.

  • That's awesome !!!

  • Thank you for your kind words.

    James.

  • Wow, I thought I heard all the good ones. This one is at the top of the list. Thanks, Gwen

  • That is some righteous sound. I absolutely love the tone. Looking forward to hearing more. Thanks,

    Jim

  • Thank you for Listening to my songs, I build my own Guitars, this is a replica of a National New Yorker 1940. with a Lace Alumitone Pickup.

  • This is beautiful James. Phyllis......

  • James-great sound and playing--Barry from downunder.

  • Thank you Barry for listening to my songs, busy making a new Replica again, a Mosrite this time.

  • That's an awesome lap steel. Great performance. How do you get that tone and sustain? What are you running it through? The tail piece is really interesting. Are you going to add levers to bend single strings (like a pedal steel)? I've dabled in lap steel making, using hot rails strat pups and home made aluminum nut and bridge on a mahogany slab but mine sound far inferior to yours' What am I doing wrong.

  • Rab. This a replica of a 40s National New Yorker, the timber is Mahogany, the Pickup is an Alumitone, I play it through a Vox Valvetronix 15 watt amp and record using a Zoom 2 Digital Recorder. The Tone and sustain all come from these things I have mentioned. I will be fitting Palm Levers to the Tailpiece shortly to bend individual strings to give me some Pedal Steel moves.

Thank you for taking time to listen to my songs.

    James.

  • where can someone buy a replica? who makes it?

  • Brad, To the best of my knowledge there is no replica of this Instrument, I made this guitar myself, it has a Bigsby tailpiece fitted and awaits hand levers being fitted. This is a copy of National New Yorker made between the late 1930s and 1950s. They come up on Fleabay now and again for around $500

If you wish to talk more send me a PM.

    James.
