Thank you for listening to my songs, This is a standard Single Alumitone Pickup which I bought for half price on Fleabay. It has a very clean, uncoloured sound which I like.
Thanks for your reply. I will continue to save your music to my favorites and enjoy them when I want to listen to good steel. Sure wish you had CD's though. Thanks!
@rwayneu44, If you make a choice of the tracks you would like to have and send that to me in a Personal Message together with your email address, I will send you MP3 tracks you can burn to disc and make your own.
You play great! Have you put anything on CD's? If so, I would like to obtain some from you. Love the steel. You make it talk. Thanks for sharing your talent.
@rwayneu44 , Thank you for listening to my songs and for your kind words. I'm just a backroom player who plays for the joy of it and for the enjoyment of others like yourself. I make all my own steel Guitars and I'm glad you enjoy what I do.
that was fantastic, love the sounds you put out on your lap steel. i am currently building one, what is the best scale lenghth to use.i was originally going to build a six string but have just decided on 8.
love it, love it.all the way from tasmania ,australia.love hank snow he was the greatest! my only regret is i never got to see him in person.to me ,i can only describe his voice as velvet.AND THE NEXT BEST THING TO THAT IS YOUR PLAYING thank you from lesley
wow, That sounds great. I was thinking of putting a Alumitone Humbucker (split) It in a lap steel that I'm building. How do you think a humbucker in the bridge position would sound in a lap steel? Thanks for posting.
The Alumitone Humbucker would sound great in the bridge position, although I have to point out the single coil Alumitone does not transmit any hum either, they are not like any other Pickup on the market, there is no large copper coil of wire to generate hum its a different concept altogether. I bought mine cheap on Fleabay.
That's an awesome lap steel. Great performance. How do you get that tone and sustain? What are you running it through? The tail piece is really interesting. Are you going to add levers to bend single strings (like a pedal steel)? I've dabled in lap steel making, using hot rails strat pups and home made aluminum nut and bridge on a mahogany slab but mine sound far inferior to yours' What am I doing wrong.
Rab. This a replica of a 40s National New Yorker, the timber is Mahogany, the Pickup is an Alumitone, I play it through a Vox Valvetronix 15 watt amp and record using a Zoom 2 Digital Recorder. The Tone and sustain all come from these things I have mentioned. I will be fitting Palm Levers to the Tailpiece shortly to bend individual strings to give me some Pedal Steel moves.
Brad, To the best of my knowledge there is no replica of this Instrument, I made this guitar myself, it has a Bigsby tailpiece fitted and awaits hand levers being fitted. This is a copy of National New Yorker made between the late 1930s and 1950s. They come up on Fleabay now and again for around $500
I do enjoy steel music, be it lap or pedal. Thanks for sharing.

Bluescat, My Teisco is a 22 and 1/2 inch scale, the rest are 23 inch. I built a 24 inch Twin neck and didn't like it, so I stick to 23 inch.
