A #1 hit for Little Stevie Wonder in August 1963. It also hit #1 on the Rhythm & Blues charts. Could this blind kid be the breakout star of the 1960's? We shall see.
I'm lily-white and a right-wing conservative. But Stevie Wonder is a musical genius, regardless of his politics. Some of the most beautiful pop-tune melodies and lyrics ever written....
Yeah, so witty and original to crap on that Beiber kid. It's really beyond ridiculous that in the Youtube universe, people are not sick of the same tired, worn out reference on video after video. If someone got on TV every and told the same joke every day, would you still laugh at it? You would say enough, already. Think he's too popular? Don't blame the kid- blame the American public. To thumbs-up those comments just encourages this garbage to go on endlessly. Enough already!!
This video is posted on Facebook page called "Golden Tunes - Sound of Oldies", so if you have fb account and some time, check it, i guess you will like it :) Page is for everyone who like like warm cozy sound of evergreen music.
I was on the computer, and thought to myself, "Everyone thinks Justin Bieber is so great because he was like, 13 when he got famous. BUT WAIT!!! Stevie Wonder was pretty young too, I wonder what his first song was...." and I found this awesome song. This improvised, real, rythmic and bluesy magic.
I was just sitting in front of my computer and started thinkin about Stevie Wonder. I read his bio and i still cant imagine, how he would make this shortcoming and be an icon. He proves that anything is possible. Wow. But he did he learn to play so many instruments. Is he a genius? He must be. Motown.
At 2:18, the majestic re-entry into the song ( especially featuring Marvin Gaye's "Hand of God" drumming) is officially the greatest moment in recorded musical history.
wow. He was very talented for a 12 year old who was blind. He even broke a record of being the youngest artist on the top US Billboard Charts! :) Stevie wonder is truly a legend
It always an amazing wonderful experience Incredible! One of my favorite parts is when they're coming back in & you hear 1 guy (2:25) " what key ?! what key ?!"
This whole song is suuch a blast !
A fabulous record , i'm sooo grateful this performance was "captured" for us to hear again & again.
Stevie ! the band ! the audience ! ** ~ LOVIN' IT ~ ** !
This song is considered the first 'live' recorded song of the rock 'n' roll era. Who could imagine a 12 year old handicapped genius would develop into an icon & one of Motown's most productive artists second to Smokey Robinson. It would climb to the # one spot on the billboard charts in 1963 and put him on the road to fame and fortune. He would also become a great humanitarian and the driving force to establish MLK's birthday as a national holiday. Little no more, and with a heart of gold!!
@dakotajim11378 Very well said!! I couldn't agree more!! Stevie is a genius indeed!! He didn't let his lack of sight discourage him from reaching his potential, and fulfilling his dreams; what an ICON!!!
This is the music that I love not the shit that is on the radio today !
