  • Is that the DVD of the musical? If it is, we have something in common. The Phantom was a desturbed genius, NOT a popstar with a gimmick and half-assed broadway hack!

  • Weren't there bloopers with the phantom singing in a trucker hat?? LOL

  • LOVED THIS VID IT'S SO HIGHLARIOUS!!!!!

  • I second that heat stroke comment! -falls over dead-

  • Nice, very entertaining video, good advice you gave.

  • LOL that was so funny i will be posting my vids soon and i will send you the videos first tho so you can laugh or enjoy you should know me by now im the british guy who contacts you on you email

  • Do you really think like that about Denny's?

  • I was watching this embeded on the Phantom on a Budget website, but I had to stop by and comment when I heard 'Bubble gum, chewing gum, and spirit gum are not synonymous.'

You are a hero for that line.

  • That last bid of advice, I SO AGREE!!!

  • Hm...even a video on Halloween advice involves personal hatred of the 2004 movie...congratulations you're exactly like every other phan who makes videos here.

  • Did a little reading on your profile. If you think that all those who dislike the movie have "puny minds," congratulations, you are a hypocrite. You have a terribly limited perception of how others might consider that movie, and refuse to be open to it, just like those you complain about. If people love the 2004 movie, great. But I thought it lacked substance and twisted so many important elements of the story. For the record, MC is far from the top of my list of favorite Phantoms. Chaney=#1

  • Maybe I worded it incorrectly, because I meant the people who dislike the movie and constantly talk about how much they hate it instead of what they DO like have puny minds. not just the fact they dislike it. Most people say that about the movie, but I found little differences between the plot of the movie and the play. You'd be a first to not like MC, because I've never heard of anyone except myself who dislikes him.

  • Plenty of people dislike MC; many "love" him because they haven't experienced others in the role and therefore don't know better. It's easy to be obnoxious and polarized on a subject when there is no exposure to the other side. I disliked that they changed the Phantom's back story in the movie. I feel it trivialized his life, and negated some of the potential the story has. Not that the stage show does a stellar job of it either, but at least he has a hint of worldly ventures. To each his own.

  • The movie backstory seems to make Erik just as insane as the book Erik to me--if he's never had any exposure to the world (like persia and italy and russia) except for the freak show and the opera house, he'd have more problems mentally. You do have a point though about his past. I've seen nearly all the phantoms out there and my first phantom (the movie) still remains my favorite....what exactly do you personally dislike about it? The voice, the face, or both? Or other?

  • More or less Schumacher's vision and all the decisions he made. It was too sexed up. It just doesn't feel right to me. Even the stage show can be a little overly romanticized. Acting wise I thought Butler did well, but I honestly cannot bring myself to like his voice. Not his fault - I put blame with Webber and Schumacher for hiring a novice for a role that is best done by professional voices. I don't think he'd have more mental problems in the movie - different problems, sure.

  • Wow...you're one of the first people to NOT blame Gerry for everything--he was just doing his job. My point of view on the voice thing--well, the character Erik couldn't exactly be trained professionally either, so I found no problem with the actor being untrained. If they are trained, it's too...I don't know--fake to me. As far as sexed up...well the romance in the story is the main plot, and hey, I am a total sucker for romance :). Leroux was more like a police report to me.

  • I'll differ with you on the voice thing - it's one thing for an actor, but in the actual story, I think Erik needs to have that near-perfect voice as described in the original novel (and others like Kay), trained or no. Possessing that type of ability is what makes him so unique and qualified to guide someone like Christine. That's why Gerry's voice took me right out of the movie. And for me, the over-romanticizing took away from other important aspects and lessons in the story.

  • I can go to sleep listening to MotN when Gerry's singing it (except for the obvious part everyone hates, a certain 'soar' note) and at PONR...I love it. It's just my idea of an ideal voice. Ah, we can agree to disagree on a lot of things, no? :)

By the way, where did you get the hat? I've been searching forever for something like that without just buying a typical man's fedora. It never looks quite right like yours does.

  • Nothing wrong with agreeing to disagree. :) The hat is a men's fedora by Scala. I usually find them around on eBay or other retail sites. Price varies, but $30-40 is pretty typical.

  • woooooooooooaaaaaaaaaaaaaah. I'll take a cheap knock-off instead if still want one of those by Halloween. 30-40 bucks..

haha, I thought you were called PhantomONABUDGET!

  • Trust me, that's very budget compared to top of the line fedoras.

  • oh wow...then again, that may sound like a fortune because I'm such a cheapskate! haha maybe I'll drag out my 10 buck cloak and just go as Voldemort for Halloween.

  • Hahahahahahahahahahaha-- *Literally laughs so hard that the swivel chair fell backwards.* Oh my. This was hilarious. I loved the John Deere cap. And your reaction to the DVD. Oh, man.

  • what was the last one for that film wasnt that bad

  • That was fabulous!

(I would have accessorized with the purse!)

  • Thank you! I suppose in the end there's always a little room for a man purse.

  • I remember going to work in makeup. I think I kept my head down for the most part. And I do take pride in the heat stroke. ^^ Awesome vid. I shall be perusing your tut later.

  • HAHAHAHAHA! I love it! Why DO you have a John Deere hat, anyhow? *thumbs up* Sage advice, my friend.

  • Cracker Barrel. Gift Shop. Mirror. John Deere hat. I refused to walk out of the place without it. True story. ;)
