In my case, my family's dysfunctional, my real dad's still alive, but my step dad and his family treat me as much like family as they do my step dad and my three half brothers. And that's really rare for whole families to be that accepting. It really helped when I was having problems with my step mom. I still had good step relatives to look up to. Helped me keep myself a more accepting person who can laugh and love with those who care.

this song just made me bawl my eyes out. Im 17 and a single mom. the father and i are not together and i met a guy how is a year younger than me and he was the perfect dad to my little boy and then almost a year went by and he started to change and everything was changing and the baby loved him and called him dada and they had such a connection and this song makes me think of that guy that didnt have to be a dad at 16 and he was and now were not together :'(

this songs kinda hits home to me but not me. my sons dad was abused by his father and his mom left his dad when he was young and met what is now his step dad and his step dad tought him to be a good person and how to be a man. when i was pregnant he left me but he did come back after i had the baby and was there when his baby needed him and was a damn good dad. he made his mistakes and has to live with it every day noing that when i was pregnant with his son another man was talking to his son

there are 2 just plain stupid people living as we speak!!! ignorant!!! My father got with my mother even though she had a 7 month old down syndrome son!! He also adopted that son and gave him his last name!!! Raised him along with 3 more boys!! My brother Stephen was never treated any different than the rest of us!! My dad was the greatest ever and I hope that I can be even a part of a man as he was!!! Rest in peace dad and bro!! We miss you both greatly!!

This song makez me cry every time, cuz the closest thing i had to a father is my momz on and off boyfriend from highschool tht she kept in touch with and he would come around. When i was little i actually thought he WAS my dad. He died a couple yearz ago, and we didnt even find out til a couple weekz later when his brother died and his obituary was in the paper and my mom called their mom and she told her. I miss him alot. He was my dad even tho he didnt have to be.

i told my step dad the other day when this came on. that this is just like you. b/c wen i was born. my real dad left. and my mom meet my step dad when i was three and i calld him daddy and him and my mom werent even going out yet! but he went along with it. and has taken care of me and my mom sence i was 3 and upto this day(im 14)

I might act lke a jerk to my stepfather but, I still I love him. I might not show it but I do. This song always makes me cry because it reminds me of my mom, me, and my stepdad. my high school bf always talked about his "dad" and all the things they did together when we were dating, and the first time he brought me home to meet his parents, he kept calling his dad "Bruce" and I was like, why do you call your dad by his first name?? ha turns out he wasn't his biological dad but the only dad he knows. He's married now and I haven't seen him in 4 years but every time I hear this song I still think of him and the special bond he shared with his step dad, I mean dad :-)

My dad married a woman I can't stand, but for her kids' sakes I'm glad he did. They needed him. My step dad's family treats me like their own, as does he, and I have my sister's (adopted) side of the family. My grandma adopted them, and they returned the favor-though it helped that her mom and my dad almost married once too. My grandma can't stop collecting kids. XD She's 60-something now. So I relate to the song. Majorly.

In my case, my family's dysfunctional, my real dad's still alive, but my step dad and his family treat me as much like family as they do my step dad and my three half brothers. And that's really rare for whole families to be that accepting. It really helped when I was having problems with my step mom. I still had good step relatives to look up to. Helped me keep myself a more accepting person who can laugh and love with those who care.
