Ricky is Blackfoot and if anyone blames him for line up changes don't;blame the S.O.B. that left the band or wasn't doin his job playin, any musician will tell ya change is synonymous with time and people and friends come and go and there ain't a damn thing you can do about it.
Blackfoot never wrote a bad song some are just better than others but I'll take their worst over anything on the radio right now, just flip through some channels and listen for anything new worth a crap. What up nigga rap bull hate the law hate whitie hate the system hate and screw white bitches that's what I hear.
'Maruader' was the last great Blackfoot album. 'Siogo' pandered to teenies and MTV and had maybe 3 songs that could be considered pure Blackfoot. Atco actually wanted Charlie Hargrett to cut his hair and wear different clothes to fit in with the new generation. They wanted to kick him out because he was 'too ugly'! I give credit to him for saying 'screw that' and bailing from the band before the abysmal 'vertical smiles', which even Medlocke disowned immediately after its release.
I came on board when Flyin' High came out...played the thing a lot, got No Reservations ASAP and really enjoyed Blackfoot for years, saw several shows...and they always kicked serious ass. After Vertical Smiles I wasn't into them as deeply as before.and can't even go there with the current Lineup...without Thunderfoot AND Medlocke...nah, pass...
Damn, that song just crushes live! Rickey Medlocke is truly under-rated as a guitarist....and I'd be willing to wager at least one more go-round with Blackfoot before it's all said and done. No disrespect intended to the current line-up, but Blackfoot-Rickey= cover band.
he rrickey really needs to stay with lsb becasue his voice is worn out....bobby barth is doing a great job wit blackfoot...i like rickey...but lets give credit where credit is due... the new blackfoot sound on stage is more like the studio vers..rickey never could do that.....in this vid the backup vocals were lost because you never know where rickey is going to go...
I asked Ricky about a year after he joined Skynyrd why couldn't Skynyrd play one of the Blackfoot songs. He used to play a bit of a solos of Train Train when JVZ would introduce him. Play like this song, Left Turn on a Red Light, or Wishing Well or something like that. Gary said NO!! Too bad too because the Blackfoot fans would have loved it.
I saw Blackfoot in a small club in NYC in the early 80's- the best freakin concert I've ever seen... Damn they were kick ass...I'd love to hire them for a party I'm having.
this song is the JAM! Man what a great musician. I kinda like Rickey with a little horse goin on. Gives this already great song a little more attitude! I agree with the comment about the hair posers. That base player gives me the douche chills....
Killer Song one of my favorites..but I do agree Rickey should have left the 2 hair posers out of this band...if not for him they would still be playing some strip bar somewhere I don't think they realize that.Blackfoot never got the shot they deserved.
Correct that this is not really Blackfoot but a respectable rendering of the tune. Unfortunately this sounds like one good reason for Rickey to take that Skynard gig as primarily a lead guitarist and give his voice a break. His once kick ass voice ain't getting it here. Pretty hoarse. Maybe just a bad night or a cold.
@gritzman And they're any better without Medlocke today? Nope. Rick Medlocke was Blackfoot. Wish he would leave Skynyrd and tour doing Blackfoot songs.
I work every weekend very early at a Hospital as an MRI Tech and turn left on this one red light almost everytime,.. nobody around.... I totally think of that song.... : )
To each their own, but the Ken Hensley Blackfoot era excited the hell outta me. That was apparently Rickey's call to bring in a keyboardist. Siogo is brutal heavy rock, and Vertical Smiles, with "Young Girl" (shoulda been a hit) and the incredible "Morning Dew," it had it's high points. I lost track after the "Rick and Blackfoot" album (what the hell happened?), but this '94 video, Rickey looks like he's havin' a helluva good time!
If you look Siogo and Vertical smiles albums when Ken Hensley joined the group, well those where times when Blackfoot was lost.
Medicine Man and After the Reign are so much more original Blackfoot sounding than those two.
But gotta say that Blackfoot is and will be one of my top favorite bands of all the time. Keep the good stuff coming, there is too little Blackfoot footage in the internet.

Big fan of Mark Woerpel. Saw him 4-5 times play guitar with Rick and the boy can play. His solos on Guitar Slingers Song and Dance were excellent.

Rickey Medlocke IS Blackfoot. The band today called Blackfoot is in every way a poser band.
