  • GOLFWANG

  • Zooey is awesome.

I love her voice and I don't know why! :)

  • is this the slow version!?

  • I got through half the song before I realized the roles were reversed :P

  • aaahhh finally...rape can be romantic too guys...j/k but seriously zooeys verse needs to be slowed down...she sounds like she REALLY wants out of that house, even if she freezes to death or gets eaten by a honey badger...zooey dont care, zooey dont give a $hit!

  • @TheSamanthafication lol she isnt leaving, he is!

  • M. Ward sings it better than Willie, but I don't know if anyone (ever) sang it like Norah.

  • A Rapist's favourite Christmas song! D: lol

  • @Elianaaxox LOOL

  • loveisonthewayy.tumblr.com

  • too fast.

  • i hate this version

  • I love all their other music but I hate this.

  • its too fast..

  • In Neptune's Daughter where this song is first featured, Red Skelton and Betty Garrett sing the parts reversed after Ricardo Montalban and Esther Williams sing the parts as they are traditionally done.

  • it is way too fast

  • um the r singing backwards the guy is sing wat the girl should sing and the girl should sing wat the guy is singing

  • i like everything about it! it's upbeat (:

  • I like how Zooey is singing the guys part. It's different. I don't really like the speed, but it's still good

  • its too fast for me to enjoy. . or sing along to!

  • this is my wake up song..!

  • I was so excited when I found out Zooey was doing this CD!! Now I am sooooooo disappointed since I heard it!! I liked it soooooooooooooo much better when she sang it in Elf!!! So sad because I fell in love with her voice when she sang it in Elf. This is a very fast version and doesn't do justice for her voice.

  • Why has nobody yet mashed Zooey's part in this version with her part in the version she sang in Elf?

  • I know some people think they butchered this song because of their upbeat tempo but the tempo is just what makes me love this song even more! I like her cover in Elf but this one just makes it so fresh and cute!

  • LOL . they were playing this @ my work yesterday. and it was my first day there. i think im loving my job

  • I really want to love this song and the whole album! but i cant! :( im a huge fan of she and him (and this song) i think their amazing but they just messed this one up i think :(

  • Not usually a fan of gender swapping songs (tends to end with a limp wristed guy and a butch lady in songs written with a boy or girl in mind), but it seems really appropriate here. Having the girl doing the convincing all but eliminates the date rape vibe.

  • Why did I just discover this on christmas eve?!

  • baby it's cold outside!

  • Yuk

  • It could be that the "what's in this drink?" line refers to eggnog and they didn't know there was an alcoholic version of it. It doesn't neccessarily mean it's got a date rape drug in it? I've heard lots of people refer to that line in that way, and I my first though (as a non-drinker) was just that it had alcohol in it.

  • Wow....must have been on some uppers before they sang this track

  • would sound better while shes in the gimbel's shower.

  • This is a cute song, and I love the liveliness of it, but it is much too fast for the song to be effective. The 'wolf and lamb' feel of the song is lost in the haste with which the lyrics are sung and I didn't get to appreciate it as it deserves.

  • I love how they made a really nice version out of this song, that I thought was too bad to make something good out of. (no offense, it's just my opinion) But that's she and him.. they're just amazing :)

  • Zooey is perfect

  • *Pulls back shower curtain*

    *Screams*

  • I love the reversal of roles ... very Zooey.

  • why does her voice sound like its harmonizing with itself? its like she recorded it twice and put them both on the same vocal track does anybody know what i mean?

  • @HoneyB9481 It took me a while to figure out what that was -- she just records her vocals with a ton of reverb.

  • @HoneyB9481 Ever heard of double-tracking? Or reverb?

  • to fast... this is a slow song

  • I like the role reversal.

  • another song ZD didn't suck at singing...

  • What's up with the echo echo echo echo echo .. . ..

  • elf had a better version lol

  • I like it. it's different, and that's just hard to do with Christmas music. I welcome this cute change.

  • i was looking for a role reverse cover! Perfect.

  • i have to admid i do love this song, but when you listen to it, isnt it just a little date-rapey?

  • This is my favorite Christmas song, and I love them very much, but I have to agree, this is way too fast that I can barely understand what they're saying.

  • I was so excited to see them singing this but it's underwhelming. Disappointed :(

  • @GuardGirl39 Why were you disappointed?

  • @thebamboozaler07 Because I expected it to be a little slower and romantic, and I don't like the role reverse. And because I have never found a version of this song that I'm happy with, so I was hoping this would be it.

  • @GuardGirl39 how about the version of Rod Steward?

  • @deepocean0325 that one's not bad, but still not one that I like lol. I'm a bit picky obviously. The Lady Antebellum version is the one that I have on my iPod, but that one gets boring after a while. Ah, well.

  • @GuardGirl39 Oh I see ya. Ya I know what you mean it is a little fast, I like it to be calmer. I agree with you. But did they sound good live atleast?

  • /watch?v=_hEJQbEYjRg

    The Gap did it.

  • I love this, but the Elf version is still my favourite!

  • LOOK up "Baby It's Cold Outside" with Rainn Wilson -- Same idea, but WAYYY better.

  • It's a cute song, but I always think it's creepy when he (and she in the other version) says "What's in this drink?". Is it just me? lol

  • @OriginMSD the whole song is hella creepy

  • @OriginMSD Christmas classic or an ode to date rape?

  • @OriginMSD Someone once pointed out that line and "What's the use in hurting my pride?" makes this a song about date rape. I'm not sure I can offer a decent rebuttal.

  • @OriginMSD not at all i thought the same thing. Then she goes "say lend me your comb" and I think to myself, Someone got a little lucky.

  • @OriginMSD People bring this up about this song quite frequently. While the original intent of the line cannot be said for certain, widespread availability and/or awareness of date rape drugs were about 20-30 years away when Frank Loesser wrote the song in 1944. While there were things at the time that someone could theoretically slip into someone's drink, it's almost undoubtedly a reference to the alcohol in the drink, implying that it is a very strong one.

  • @Hunsbassist no its not- its about being with the one you love- but you need to go so you try to make up as many excuses as possible, even though you don't want to go- good lord just listen to the song.

  • @leatopia I believe @Hunsbassist was talking about the line "What's in this drink?" and not the entire song.....

  • @OriginMSD Its the most lovely and creepy song in the same time lol

  • @OriginMSD "Don't worry, just roofies"

  • i would totally love this so much more if it was slower.

  • I love Zooey's voice. It's just too fast. I liked the one she did in Elf.

  • @metrokittykills i think it's actually sped up.... idk. seems off.

  • i love she & him but they just butchered a brilliant song. :\

  • elf. foreshadowing??

  • @emfish94 foreshadowing would be if this came out before elf....so no.

  • Love it, can't get enough of it :)

  • Didn't she also sing this song on the Elf Soundtrack?

  • This version sounds rushed and kind of bizarre, but the more I listen to it the more I like it.

  • ABOUT TIME.... A "Baby It's Cold Outside" that doesn't sound like an introduction to a softcore porno.

  • This is terrible. @.@

  • More corporate "indie" music. BTW did you notice they switched the male/female verses? Clever

  • Too fast. Too bad..

  • Just like in Elf

  • Less rapey, but more whiney

  • a little fast, but good.

  • It's too fast.

  • I thought it was originally suppose to be sang this way until I heard other versions. This version sounds better

  • I love the role reversal. And the change in tempo is honestly growing on me.

  • Not digging the tempo, sounds rushed....was soooooo much better when she sang this in elf! She has a beautiful voice either way!

  • i just bought the CD at Starbucks today:)

  • I can do without the fast tempo and awkward echo haha :)

  • I like that they switched roles for this version.

  • best version...no doubt.

  • 21 people hate christmas..and life..

  • its interesting how they switched the parts around. It takes a while to get used to the tempo change

  • love it! If you wanted the elf version you should watch elf people! It's called variety!

  • I like the switched roles, but i think the tempo change was a bit much

  • They're singing the opposite parts - odd

  • Elf version plz

  • @freespeach247

    /watch?v=pjYUzpdKMZs

  • so... who's going to cut Zooey's vocals in this version with her vocals in the Leon Redbone version? you'd get Zooey singing to Zooey

  • @daveorona18 Sounds nightmarish

  • @daveorona18 bahah that'd be pretty amazingXD i just might have to do that :P

  • cute they switch roles :)

  • Elf version is SO much better

but I do love She and Him

  • @hihellomynameiskeith agreed....I think this is tooooo fast and rushed.

  • i do like this version, but i love the slower version.

  • I really liked Zooey's vocal in Elf so I was looking forward to She & Him's version. I can understand why they switched the vocals but I prefer the other version. I think the vocals should have stayed as they were (Zooey singing female part whilst Mark sings male part)

  • not my fav version. but the role reversal is pretty cool. girl asking the guy to stay =]

  • 7hLIPPP_kKzjkooıØwor

  • eugghhhhhhh

  • Zooey's the wolf... I just can't see that.

  • It's fast because they didn't want it to sound like every other version of this song out there! Add to that, the fact that Zooey is already part of maybe the most famous of the slower versions...

  • I just love Zooey

  • she sang this in E :Dlf!!!

  • its not even that fast. Its cool

  • wut....

  • just bought the album today on amazon im gunna wrap all my presants to it :D

  • too fast. Destroyed the song.

  • It's like.... fast forward O_o

  • 6 people like Justin “under the mistletoe” hahaha..

  • I love that they switched roles and she's the one trying to convince him to stay...it's a refreshing change.

  • Fast or slow, I'm still in love with her voice.!

  • I love them but I kinda like the original version better

  • :|

  • AHHH! I love this.

  • i love how they reversed the parts... did anyone else notice that?

  • This is perfection.

  • im pretty its sped up to avoid copy right infringement

  • @timman60nine It doesn't really sound sped up though....it actually sounds like they did it this way. I have the CD but have yet to open it. I guess I should listen to the actual CD and find out lol

  • but it could be slower...

  • Sooo cute *-*

  • The song is done this way because Zooey loves old musicals, this version is her paying homage to the original.

  • I liked when she sang the with Will Farrel in Elf!!1

  • Seems to me like they were overcompensating by trying not to sound sexual, when it really ends up sounding suspicious. Love em, though. Haha.

  • I like this version best. The switched parts and the tempo are great.

  • I like this. Being the third version she's recorded, I can't say I blame her for changing this one up!

  • @Roselynde I just noticed they switched the gender roles too! Very nice

  • Where is the "Love" button??

  • it's their rendition on the song, so it's their take on it, and they wanted it to be faster:) her voice is beautiful either way, get over it. <3

  • Feels rushed!

    But I love her voice

    Elf <3

  • I don't like the echo or double dubbing of her voice! And it's too fast. It would have been wonderful if it were more in the Elf style...

  • haha i love how they switched the guy and girl parts

  • Too fast.

  • I love this song. Does anyone remember it on the movie elf?

  • Has anybody noticed that the roles are reversed in this version.

  • @superfluityme I swear, Matt is just shy. He hardly ever sings on their albums, and doesn't talk during shows

  • DISLIKE. Her rendition before was nearly perfect, except it needed a different person singing the male part. This is supposed to be a sexy song.

  • @cavilierlover it's not SUPPOSED to be "sexy"

it can be whatever the hell they want

  • Elf!

  • i like that it's fast :)

  • So so disappointed with this. I don't understand why it is so fast and Zooeys voice is all weird on it. She sings it so well without any bells and whistles and at a normal pace. I wanted this album for this song but might leave it now

  • @philt1605 same here =/

  • I wish they hadn't done the effect on her voice. She sings this song so well.

  • I was wary when I saw this on the album, as I'm a fan of Zooey's rendition of this with Leon Redbone. But everyone should be able to appreciate that they did something new! Ihe more I listen to it, the more i like the tempo

  • her and Will Ferrel did an amazing version of this, i wish they had done a full one for the soundtrack, fuck Leon Redbone

  • ELLLLF!!!!!!!!

  • I can't listen to this without thinking of Elf.. xD

  • @presqueislepwnz I love how I cam here right after watching elf xD

  • I love the way they switched parts!

  • why is it so fast?

  • @deegonz06 why are you so slow?

  • @deegonz06

    It's a race

  • @deegonz06

    /watch?v=pjYUzpdKMZs

  • @deegonz06 The Speed disturbes me

  • I prefer her other version of this song with Leon Redbone.
