i love the way you composed yourself in the shot im on my fifth time listening wow ten yrs old is amazing this is my favorite version of earls breakdown you guys are brilliant
oh my god!this is my favourite version! i know nuts about banjo. and this kid is simply fantastic! and let's give some credit to this wonderful performance to the young lady at the back playing the guitar! clap clap clap*
How do you know? This young man could be the next Earl Scruggs for all we know. It doesn't matter what age you start at, what matters is how much you practice and how much heart you put into it. If you're committed enough, you can do anything! Way to go young man. I Hope to see you on the stage some day. =)
keep at it boy ,,the best thing thats gonna come out of this is that someday u are gonna get paid to play! any kid that young that can play the breakdown will be in a band ,,,,and get paid to do what he loves ,,,i dont think randy scruggs spent to much time in school my self and i dont think earl cared much as he knew that boy had the golden ticket!ha ha ,,im not saying dont study but when u got free time you better pick that banjo up and pick and someday will come sooner than u think!!
Kids are like sponges when it comes to music. I'll bet he's firing off that tune at lightning speed now. Probably was a few days after it was filmed. He has great intonation and phrasing .I'll take that over speed any day.
I dont have Hi-speed, so cant get much from the video..BUT we were at THE Ponderosa Bluegrass Festival(2007) and you guys are terrific! I wish your second act had not been scheduled at Dinner time..you guys had an A+ show-more people should have seen it!! Best of luck from a couple of old bluegrass fans..hope to see you down the road!!
KID UR GOOD YOU HAVE GOT TALENT KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK.. IM A PROFESSIONAL IVE PLAYED FOR A LONG TIME. JUST A LITTLE TIP: PRACTICE THOSE ROLlS AND GET FASTER AND TRY TO PLAY DOWN AT THE BRIDGE, WHERE U PLAY IT GIVES IT A DULL SOUND. KEEP IT UP YOUR VERY TALENTED.
Hi How long would you say it takes to get the Banjo to play at the tempo you need for bluegrass . I know everyone is different but how long would you say ruffly.
as i am learning the banjo and everyone says don't sacrifice acracy for speed clarity is first speed comes with practice is this true?
ok now i have to say this kid is good i can sit on my front porch hearing that type of playing all day rocking back and forth on my swing that is like heaven to me on a sunny summer day and this kid plays that banjo smooth not none of that rocky trash he plays it with out missing a beat that is a gift right ther keep up the good work now ya hear
wow... awesome... fantastic... loads of talent in this guy... and the music was pleasant... maybe sometime we can hear the girl, too... lots of luck in the new year....
I'm sure about it. If you're wondering if it's fake, I can go ahead and tell you it's not. He's got accurate finger picking, accurate fretting, and good intonation. This kid has a lot of talent. We'll probably see him at the IBMA festival soon. Great job.
excellent...your bro has a great future ahead of him if he can keep this up!! I'm saving up for a banjo myself..I've had to convert my guitar to a banjo layout as a temporary measure..just to get the feel...I dont think I'll ever reach this standard tho.
WOW! I'm 14 and I play banjo aswell. Playing for almost 9 years and I was homeschooled for about 5 years. You say you're 10 and aren't homeschooled? I play a LOT of other instruments aswell, I consider myself to be musically gifted. But you... you're 10 and you can play almost aswell as me! WOW! Great job!
I just have to ask, are you guys homeschooled? Because you have to have alot of time and dedication to an instrument to be that good. I know because I am homeschooled.
Wow, this is the same kid that sawed out the Devil Went Down on the fiddle.

I know this kid. When he put this on youtube he'd been playing banjo less than 12 months.
Besides only a moron would make a statement like the one you made. What are you? some kind of expert? I'd bet you can't even play a radio.

kids too old to ever make it big..ricky and keith were already on the road with ralph by that age...

he appears to be between the age of 8 and 12. This song is probably the hardest banjo song just because of the tuning and he did it perfectly.
