Quite a lot of serious vocal enhancement from the 'toys'....You (like me) hit the word 'peace' too early...I make that mistake every time! Please feel free to comment (critically) on my version...Tim Kent. Overall I enjoyed yours a lot
id like to here more of you singing without the toys around you just you and a cam ? not that im saying its bad cuz its not i just like to here normal sounds not sumthing comeing out of a lot of stuff to make it sound better like you can see allaround you :)
Love it... but as others have said, try and work on your vowel sounds.. sounds like you're singing "Brung" rather than "Bring" and "give" comes out as almost "guve" :)
omg this is brilliant!! but constructive criticism: think about what your really singing about and also listen to your vowel sounds and try to darken them!!! :)
I understudied Valjean in the national tour of Les Mis and besides other cast-mates, this is one of the better versions I have heard in a while. One comment, work on your breath-support to sustain those longer notes with a stronger, crisper vibrato. Also, on the line "If I die, let me die," it's a moment of desperation, so belt it a little more strongly than the rest, you may need to tone down the rest. But, otherwise you did great! Breath, crisp Vibrato, and ur awesome :) congrats :)
Good to hear someone else sings it in the original key, too. Nowadays it seems everyone sings it in A. (not that I don't adore Colm Wilkinson's version!!!)
wow! We are really glad for this video, congratulations Robbie, this song is very special, your voice too and your heart in it. Thanks, our family enjoy watching and hearing you.
Very ambitious song 4 u Robbie. Poor posture for this type of singing as evidenced by your running out of air and sipping breaths in the middle of a phrase. With better expansion you could capture your tone. It's a bit thin in places.
Before you challenge me to do better, I can't, But I know singing. Check out some of the other amateurs who've posted this song.
Don't use the "one take" excuse. You only get one take in a live production, and you do get tired.
How to be only 50% douche: Begin your compliments with "You have a head like a potato". Omitting the insult, I do appreciate the kind words near the end.
LOL......I sense the Colm factor at play here....He influences my singing style too especially when I sing songs that are emotionally packed or somber or something like that. One thing i mite say is that it seems that this particular song fits well within your vocal range, that is i did not hear very much falsetto at all even in the high parts. One thing I mite therefore advise is that you relax a little..at some points ur face looked like u were straining a bit....just relax the jaw =)
Hey; thanks ipts5i. A couple points that I hope people see when 'critiquing' are: 1) I do this in one take, with usually no run-through / practice. 2) this particular video was only my 3rd. 3) it's just for fun. 4) I have to record usually after the kids go to bed... means I'm tired. LOL! And hey, sometimes I'm not 'at my best', but maybe (I hope) people will enjoy it none the less. I appreciate your comments!! Thanks for watching.
Haha, well, thanks. I hope you can appreciate me for me though, because absolutely _nobody_ compares to Colm. Colm's a strong influence on me, but I don't try to sound like him or anything like that.
I agree with Bekah, this is good man. You need to turn off the digital reverb effect though, it takes away from what is obviously a very powerful and great singing voice. Btw, this is JohnRobert :p
Thanks syrus3k. Turn off the reverb? Never. I'll be careful though not to have it too strong. Being recorded live, I pretty much just "hope" it sounds okay.
You have an incredible opera voice. I think you sing opera best of all genres. Amazing! Of course, I'm biased, but still - you do have a beautiful voice!
