My mom really hated this song. But what the hell did I know, I was only eleven when it came out. I just thought that it was a really fun song to skate to at the roller rink...
@jhchouston Heh heh. I was 17 so I had no excuse of ignorance. I think my mom was just glad I wasn't blasting "Broken Hearts are for Assholes" by Frank Zappa (as I regrettably did on Easter Sunday in 1981. That didn't go well).
@HEMIROID hey man!! glad you liked it!! i try to be funny not argue with a 12 year old who still breastfeeds!!! lol yeah its a cool song shes tight not really to familiar with the other songs except dream police and surrender.always the the drummer was a deusche smoking behind the kit!! what a fool!! maybe hes good .seems ok i guess saw them open for heart in 1984 front row heart played barracuda and gave me wood!!1
@1kelbrat1 Underrated? Not commercially in the US in the 1970s. I'd Pick Thin Lizzy, UFO & Y&T as MOST UNDERRATED band over Cheap Trick without debate.
Good Song and great memories :) I remember seeing the video on MTV when it was new and the last line (Turn on the video) back when taping yourself was daring and risque!! LOL.....Great Stuff........
@8orwellish ..EXACTLY....Most of thier music was Pop-Teen-Cheese Rock, but they are good. This song did have a lil' more edge than most of the others. I found Dream Police last night and listened 20 times. LOL
I HATE most of todays music because they don't play real instruments. They sing over robotic drum tracks and samples of other peoples music. A REAL BAND with REAL INSTRUMENTS has more feeling and pulls me in.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Rap didn't kill rock and roll, Waldo. Rock and roll killed rock and roll. I even remember the very day it died - same day Kurt Cobain died. Grunge was rock's last true contender. Ever since then, nothing but shite after shite after shite - it ALL sounds the same. But it was inevitable. It was too good to last. No one can write a fucking decent rock song anymore. NO ONE! The Spirit of the Age simply won't allow it to happen, rock requires freedom, and we're all fucking slaves.
The industry slowed it. If you listen to the radio, you'll notice that more than half the music does not have musicians. Its all robotic drum tracks and samples of other peoples music. Its quick turnover and cookie cutter. MTV started with rock, then QUICKLY switched to rap and pop. The industry pushed for single artists to feature and not large bands. Its cheaper to pay 1 knucklehead instead of 5 creative people.
I wonder how many high school girls and guy in the 80s got there first poke in the whiskers due to this song. Me I got laid to the Lemon Song in 1986.
this was one of thier "black period" (no Tom P.) for me. I just coulndt listen to them without Tom. Didnt sound like Cheap Trick with out him. Im guessing Im not alone on that. Tom comes back and BINGO the show goes back on and their popular again.

Rick is a helluva good man. A lot of fun. And he does not drink, smoke or anything elas. How could that be any fun you might question? Well, I gues it was an experience you had to have for yourself.
