Especially Canadian cops!!! About 20 years ago, several law enforcement agencies in Michigan did RIDE checks like the one in this video and the State Supreme court declared RIDE Programs in Michigan illegal and unconstitutional. There have been no drunk driving check points or RIDE programs in Michigan since 1987.

Tammy Reynolds I understand the drunk driving concerns you have as a family member. The answer is not to violate everyone's rights though.

It would be like me saying no Tammy, no more doughnut's, you are obese. That is a serious health problem and as a tax contributor to the health care system I don't think it is everyone's best interest if you eat more doughnut's. Then I give you a special tag that lets you only buy healthy food.

The first thing that happens in a ride program is your rights are violated by the police when they stop you with no just cause.

Police suck - they are one of the few jobs where the employees (cops) enforce laws they do not understand.

Notice how they don't talk about the Police in Thunder Bay who drink and drive - the last one being just a few months ago.

Police are dual role nowadays. They are peace officers as well as law enforcement officers. Most police do not even understand this.

The laws are much more complicated and we are expected to comply with them all. It is humanly impossible. Lawyers do not even understand all the laws. That is why they have to specialize - tax, criminal, civil, etc

@FeldwebelWolfenstool do you understand the court system? it wasn't the police who decided to let Rahim Jaffer off, it was the judge. i'm taking a legal evidence course, and the powers of police in Canada are very limited compared to the states. Cops aren't allowed to beat confessions out of people. We aren't allowed to cut the convicts a deal. We can't shoot a fleeing suspect. Trust me, we're pissed but we can't say so publicly because Canada's police cheifs make sure to muzzle us.
