It's tough to grow as a channel these days, i'm finding it tough

The best way is to network with people etc, i never done that myself. If you can't provide something different to the other 100000 channels on YT doing COD then it's gna be tough.

Regarding the subscriber tuesday he has a massive backlog, and in a recent video he will only be posting the best, as some of the uploads were getting tonnes of dislikes.

You should do more dual-commentating. Just make sure you find a person you like and you can have fun with and then joke around, make jokes, have fun. If you have fun and you sound enthousiastic people feel more happy too. Even though they have no direct interaction and they are watching a computerscreen. Thats what makes me watch videos.

Or add in some special effects (Tmartn,...) or play some indygame as extra (Minecraft, Happy Wheels,... ) and where you have FUN.
