Bwahahahaha ... St. Olaf? Shouldn't even be mentioned in the same breath as the mighty University of Michigan. As far as men's collegiate choirs go, Harvard and Michigan have been an indistinguishable #1/#2 combo for a century and a half and the rest are all leftovers. Lolz for TBJTBone.
it got old being so busy around xmas time. we've been busy the last 33 years so we thought we'd take a year off. dont worry though, we'll be back at it next year
Wonderful! I musta heard this song at least 1000 times, and I never get tired of it! Still brings a lump in the throat, like the National Anthem. Louis Elbel wrote this on a train, on the way back from Chicago, 1898. Michigan 12, Chicago 11. 'We were crazed with joy,' wrote Elbel. 'My spirits were so uplifted, I was clear off the earth...the idea of a big march came to me, and I completed the work on the train that took me back to Monday classes in Ann Arbor.'GO BLUE!!!!!!!!!!!!

I always know when someone specifically mentions other choirs that they are supposedly better than, that they are indeed, inferior to the aforementioned choirs. The Michigan Glee Club is good, but not even in the same class with The St. Olaf Choir.
The St. Olaf Choir you refer to is probably a mixed concert chorus, mostly of music majors. They should be finer in terms of harmony and texture than a glee club singing a varsity song.

This is actually two songs: Varsity and The Victors (Michigan's Fight Song). Thanks for the video. It brings back lots of memories.

One of the world's greatest universities and an outstanding glee club----but what's with the artsey-fartsey pronunciation?
donwert 4 years ago
And how do you suppose non "artsey-fartsey" diction should sound?
Idiot. People should know when to keep their traps shut.

The oldest Choir in America!! also the greatest, forget St. Olafs or Concordia!

Sorry dude, Harvard's the oldest choir, founded one year prior to Michigan's. That said, both are pretty sick.

I don't know what it's like where you come from, scy2200j, but a good choir can stay in tune with a piano.

it must be really hard staying in tune with that piano. GLEE CLUBS SHOULD NOT HAVE PIANO ACCOMPANIMENT
scy2200j 5 years ago
well i am in th rutgers glee club and i know these guys, and they kick ass no matter what. They don't do every song with piano accompaniment.

University of Michigan has the oldest running college glee club in the USA... I think they know how to do it.
kgrahams 5 years ago
its pretty ridiculous that someone is going to criticize one of the oldest college men's glee clubs, at one of the best music schools in the country.
