  • ~~very moving & educating video...simply but powerfully done!

  • 6 dictators watched this video..

  • I know it was Peter Benneson who set it up because of the students in Portugal who toasted freedom. But what freedom we're they toasting?Great ad by the way!

  • to assume that its racist just because of the colors that they chose to portray those things is racist in its self.... just saying

  • Why Black = Bad and Bad = White ? That is racist.

  • Extremely beautiful and powerful! It lets the good people in this world know that their help is needed in a very poetic way!

  • that was amazing. Strong concept. Easy to follow. Message was clear and captured the audiences attention. Very powerful. Love this. Amnesty International has amazing campaigns.

  • very effective and gets to the point.

  • what's the song name ? Oo

  • YOU ROCK.....

  • this is scary

  • THIS IS SPARTA!!!

  • @myasheed most governments are... just sayin'

  • We have to save every life. Respect...

  • whoa thats badd

  • This song is Croatian song! On my language!

  • @AmnestyIn

    I think its Bosnian :)

  • @AmnestyIn

    what does it say?

  • What is that song, its beautiful

  • @myasheed

there are worse governments that just hide it. look at the history of what governments in past American history have done that no one knows about or is in denial over. it's reaaally scary how they have their hands in so many conflicts..

  • Why is the Ink blue I wonder.

  • @erzan ink is often blue in pens ;)

  • group homes in edmonton alberta need investiagation, young men and women tortured in the alberta hospital edmonton serving more time for pissant crimes than those on americas most wanted, old men walking on broken foot fed 37 different types of meds, man held in seclusion for 9 years, not allowed to use the toilet,...psychiatrist maggie tweddle and dr. friend...patients holly, jason, andrew, aemon, cathy, guy, fareed, mix up paper work and board meeting lies

  • what I find funny about this is that the countries that AI focuses on the most, Israel Iran USA and China, have all signed into the UN and by association the UN declaration of human rights, guaranteeing there people's rights as shown by the charter, and yet still abuse cases like those in the commercial happen everyday with goverment backing.

  • @Steadyaim101 Most countries in the world have signed at least one of the articles in the declaration of the human rights. The reason that this commercial focuses most on these countries might be because these countries statistically abuse the human rights the most, which that Amnesty knows of. But on the other hand, the problems that you see in this video exists in every part of the world. Of course not all of them are to find in all countries. My point is that they do exist, more or less.. :)

  • @taramsm group homes in edmonton alberta need investiagation, young men and women tortured in the alberta hospital edmonton serving more time for pissant crimes than those on americas most wanted, old men walking on broken foot fed 37 different types of meds, man held in seclusion for 9 years, not allowed to use the toilet,...psychiatrist maggie tweddle and dr. friend...patients holly, jason, andrew, aemon, cathy, guy, fareed, mix up paper work and board meeting lies

  • I don't get why some people say US has worse goverment. They're kinda missing the point. People all over are being treated like this and it's just wrong. At least Amnesty International are trying to change how humans are treated. I think this video is really sad, humans have better rights then that and they should be acknowledged to those rights and treated better, treated fair no matter what race or religion they are or what country.

  • THANK YOU

  • i really liked this commercial.... who ever thought of goes my salught.. and who ever made it..did a good job.. may be used 3dmax to make it.. anyway good job man.. keep it up..

  • y r they going to warped tour

  • @mrchewy55 Lol, I have no idea. Haha.

  • down with Iran

  • i don't understand how people can do things like this...

  • Could anyone say me, what this signatures in this vid show? (this blue ones)

    thanks

and it's a... amazing but also really sad "film"

  • @Suuyasha I think it means your signature, which can help, if you sign on Amnesty International, but that´s only my opinion... ´Cause in the end you can see sentence:

"Your signature is more powerful than you think..."

  • I found that to be raciest towards color blind people.

  • @myasheed america has an even worse one, i hope it falls sooner

  • @rambler1987 what do American soldiers have to do with these scenarios

  • @mindylinky the little girl, american soldiers killed their parents in iraq, raped them when they grow up a little bit, and they die painfully because of the depleted uranium in their blood. US army has been killing and destroying all over the world for the last 10 years and they are still criticising China. i have returned to communism now and will support my chairman mao for the rest of my life.

  • I Agree, Amnesty International are a bunch of jerks

  • @Legboy1129 Thank you!

  • Amnesty is wasting its time fighting for the rights of people who wont even fight for themselves! Human rights are an invention of western society, they are admirable, yes. but we have fought for generations for those rights. You must fight for respect and kill to keep it!!

  • Comment removed

  • Human rights bollocks. Say that to those who were massacred in Bosnia, or in Rwanda. Or how about victims of terrorists like the IRA. Their victims get nothing but yet there pepretraitors get compensation because apparently the British government abused their human rights.

  • So you say that human rights are bullshit because there are violations of human rights? Isn't that a bit of hyprocracy?

  • The only hypocrites are the UN. Who claim human rights and all but are afraid to enforce them. A piece of paper means nothing. We are talking about humans here, not some rule which barely any country enforces any way.

  • This video is made by manesty, not the UN. The two organisations may have simular goals but they are not the same.

If you start talking about the UN you are talking about rules which are not enforced by some countries. This is exactly why we need amnesty. Someone has to show publicity what happens. If we happen to show our attention, then some countries will seek an other, way to reach their goals- one which doesn't mark them as villains.

  • Thats all very well but amnesty may as well kiss the asses of the UN. Hardly do they question the UN even if the UN fails people and it has. One of Amnesty's goals is the abolish the death penalty but in a country like Saudi Arabia for example, who are Amnesty to question a religious legal system that's been in place for a thousand years. Maybe Amnesty should ask what the average Saudi thinks about capital punishment, you'll find a total whitewash against your view.

  • Amnesty kisses the ass of the declaration of human rights. The UN also want to make goverments respect the human rights but the goverments in power often hesitate to use harsh words, especially because China has the Veto power.

Amnesty is not controlled by goverments and so doesn't need to hold back. About that religious legal system: it is not the purpose of Amnesty to represent the majority but the human rights- they are their main value.

  • Human rights, are a western styled system of morals. Hardy comply s with a Islamic system or any other rules of governments that do not match what human rights were created under. A reliable system of morals would have to be approved through the will of the people. Can't you contemplate that. A system cannot work if its approved by the few. All human rights do is give murderers and rapists in prison the right not to do stuff that frank-fully as criminals they should be doing.

  • You can not hope that all people in the world will finde the same morals. Therefore, we can just fight for what we think is right. The other possibility would be to just look away. I prefer fighting for my beliefs

  • What makes you think what you believe is right. Human Rights is a socially constructed idea. The Allies killed many people in WW2 and I feel it was right but do you feel millions of people's human rights were abused because of it. Or do you feel like most people that it means we now live peaceful prosperous lives today.

  • Moral always is socially constructed. We can never be sure if our values are good but if we do have values, we inherantly believe in them to be good.

However, I am afraid I do not get your point after the second sentence. What is the connection between WW2 and our living conditions now? I can just say that not everyone lives peaceful prosperous lifes. If everyone did, we wouldn't need INGO's like Amnesty.

  • The point I'm making is in WW2, do you feel human rights were abused by allies, despite what they were doing was right, do you always feel that we should punish those who may abuse human rights even in extreme circumstances such as WW2. Would you call their abuses as overtly wrong. The fact is there will always be wars and conflicts and abuses as long as human exist, its a part of life. To be honest I feel that Amnesty is doing bugger all. Abuses still occur etc governments ignore you.

  • @cloughers

I think that violations of right should be punished- everytime. All members of the UN accepted the human rights as right, so they have to bow their head before them.

About the other countries: There is no world goverment. Therefore, every actor has to fight for his goals for himself. Our goals are to fight those abuses and we have strong allies. This is all you need if you share the cynical view on politics as you appear to represent.

  • what's the point in making country' sign a act which they won't follow. According to the UN only five countries, them being Sweden , Norway, Iceland, Denmark and another country truly follow human rights and barely abuse them. It's all just one hypocrisy. Are you going to complain to the Saudi government because they stripped Bin Laden of his Saudi citizenship. Or are you going to be realistic and just and consider the heinous crimes he's committed. Sometimes lesser of two evils apply.

  • @cloughers

You are right, most countries hurt human rights. But you must wonder what this means for us. It could mean "So let's no longer care." or "This is one more reason to show people these violations"

Now let us talk in terms of utilitarism. What happens if we choose your option? Then, there would be no reason for goverments to respect human rights.

What happens if we choose my option? Then, goverments have a reason to respect human rights: their international reputation.

  • Well firstly I would like you to answer my question regarding Bin Laden. However some countries simply don't care about reputations. Does Iran give a shit when the UN gives them another load of sanctions. The truth is that countries will only care for their own and no one else. Until this is addressed human rights in principle will not work.

  • @cloughers

Let's see, Bin Laden was found guilty of hurting human rights many times (as UN resolutions show). As a result, he did not possess the right of sanctuary. I do not remember Bin Laden to be a citicen of Saudi Arabia,so the action did not hurt the Universal Declaration of human rights.

About Iran: Look in the farer east. China starts trying to cover their humilations. This actually is the first step. You can't expect Iran to inherit these laws tomorrow, such things need time...

  • Bin Laden was a Saudi. He came from the 2nd richest family in Saudi Arabia. Then after pissing the Saudi government off, they stripped him of his citizenship in about 1994. And China, you can talk all day about their abuses but I bet many Chinese prefer the situation the way it is. People don't care about human rights abuses as long as the people have jobs, homes and food on the table and most Chinese have that. The country is more richer then if it was democratic.

  • Bosnian and Montenigrin?! Don't make me laugh :D I don't see those languages in the name: Serbo-Croatian. Check again where ever you learned about that.

    O tempora o mores!

  • It is sad, very sad to watch thing with your eyes. You have a problem that cannot be solved with rigid terms and definitions. I don't have nothing more so say. sorry

  • No, I'm sorry. I'm sorry that there are people as blind as bats in our beautiful world, who can't appreciate nice and important things and have to lie to themselves in order to find meaning of life.

  • The reason why they're in black is cause black represents evil...the bad. Those who are in white are the innocent...the good. It has nothing to do with racism.

  • @1969Brookie It's sad how we must explain this ^_^ It should be obvius for everyone, but sadly people want to find raists sooo badly ^_^

  • @1969Brookie yes, but the whole idea of black representing evil and white representing purity derived from a racist concept

  • All us who are members of Amnesty International thanks you for this post!!! I love how the signatures rescue the people. Everyone that believes in Amnesty should become a member. Every member counts in making a difference when it comes to human rights. Thanks again.

  • i appreciate the intention of this video and the way it uses art in the service of human rights, but i am concerned that all of the "bad" people perpetrating violence are black or dark and all the "good" people/victims are white or light. this subtly and implicitly reinforces stereotypes and racism that contribute to injustice.

  • It is Serbian, I am Serb so I should know.

  • It is not Serbian. It is so-called Serbo-Croatians. It is Serbian, Croatian, Bosnian, Montenegrin :) at the same time.

  • it is not serbian language

  • i hope so also

  • sad, but too long for a tv ad-should almost be a short movie

  • Please keep supporting the movement in Iran. An activist called Ehsan Fattahian is scheduled to be executed this Wednesday (Nov 11.) His crime "going against society's values" and "being an atheist" Please sign the petitions that are out there to save him.

  • This is Serbian language.

  • thats impressive

  • Freedom for Talysh, Tats, Lezgin & Kurs in Azerbaijan.

REPUBLIC OF AZERBAIJAN SUPRESSES ITS ETHNIC MINORITIES.

FREEDOM FOR TALYSH & TATS FROM TURK AZERBAIJANI SUPRESSION.

AZERBAIJAN IS TRYING TO TURKIFY ITS MINORITIES.

We have right to keep our own language & culture.

ASSIMILATION IS A CRIME AGAINST HUMANITY.

  • All of it is the Soviet Union's 's fault. When they occupied those areas they mixed up the lines to divide people of the same ethnicity. It was their strategy to prevent any uprising. Now those lines are all wrong and cause people of some ethnicity to have to live under someone else's rule.

  • 'But as when an authentic watch is shown,

Each man winds up and rectifies his own,

    So in our very judgements.'

    John Suckling, 'Aglaura', 1637.

    [Taken from the book :

Revolution In Time - Clocks and the Making of the Modern World

    by David.S.Landes, 1983.]

  • Beautifully expressed, it takes alot for an edvert to make me cry but this made me really let go. I think it's a mixture of the feelings for the people represented, and how it not only shows them touching on hope, but the advert as a whole touching on hope as well. Should be on TV, hope this makes a difference however it's broadcasted.

  • This is NOT Sparta...!!! >;::::;>

  • great!

  • omg why havent i seen this on tv? such an amazing commercial

  • I have water in my eyes more than usual.

  • I got chicken skin...Great video!

We should remember that we are human beings and so we must protect the weak people, animals and the nature in general, with all what it includes!

    Freedom to life!

  • program ?

  • i believe we still can do something...

in our own way, whenever we are...

  • From Times Online (January 8, 2009):

"The ICRC said that it had spent four days seeking Israeli guarantees of safe passage so that it could gain access to the houses in the badly damaged Zaytun neighbourhood" of Gaza city

"In one house they discovered four small children, alive but too weak to stand, next to the bodies of their dead mothers."

"At that point they were ordered to leave by Israeli soldiers manning a post some 80 metres away!"

"but they refused to do so"

  • I am sorry but I find this almost offensive.

I've been signing my name for years and I dont think a single life has been saved.

The issues these organizations highlight are always politically linked to, while others are allowed to literally get away with murder.

Look at the staggering silence with regards to the desperate situation in Gaza.

    Are these ppl less human?

Or is it he who pays the piper calls the tunes?

  • To the one below - Your signature does have an influence, and to say it doesn't is a cheap way to try to pretend you care but lack the social commitment to go ahead with it. I have been volunteering for Amnesty Int'l for a while now, and there are numerous occasions on which the collected signatures we have gathered have had a great impact.

  • One of the most striking examples is the the stop of an Iranian's court order to execute a minor on Christmas day for 'disrupting the Society', for which we gathered an impressive amount of signatures, and effectively hindered the execution, which was called of last-minute by the government, expressly mentioning the overwhelming amount of signature being sent to the Secretary of Justice.

  • Amazing!!!

  • beautiful. does anyone know who made it?

  • what an amazing vid!

  • it is a bosnian song ... probably about the war and only written for this occation we tried to find out the artist by googling the lyrics but we couldnt find it

  • great movie!

  • from who is the song?! and nice animation work!

  • Yeah i also wonder where do they take the music from.

  • i am going to try to find the music(soundtrack), if you find it... than you may informate me ;D Ok?

  • the song sounds like Ederlezi or Djurdjevdan..

  • yeah your right... but i dont think none of those 2 singing in this commercial....

  • Amazing and powerful video. Amnesty International is one of the most important organizations on Earth. Please support them in any way you can!

  • amazing made

  • am i the only 1 that couldn't stop thinking about that movie 300 after the first bit
