cont: You can tell if you're close sometimes because you will become aware of your own breathing sound but you won't feel your self breathing and this can be the most disturbing and scary thing about it. I think that its kind of a super awareness you have to achieve, trying to hard will hinder an out of body experience or lucid dream. I just lay down and let my body fall asleep without thinking about it to much or worrying that I won't be able to do it and I allow the thoughts and images to flash through my minds eye but I just observe them more than anything. Then out of no where it happens and I actually feel my awareness shift into the small area around my head or chest.

I think the basic idea behind the techniques of creating OBEs is to let your body asleep and in the meantime be as much aware as you can. this is the reason I do not like the Christian belief that sex is bad, I agree that you can have a really deep connection with another soul without actually having sex but it is enjoyable and is a good physical exercise which brings good feeling to both people given they are both wanting that connection, and to say you must not have sex because you choose not to marry is silly, some people want to be solitary and there is nothing wrong with that and they should not miss out on physical pleasure.
