  • Karen Carpenter was great, But to look at these beautilful girls only makes it better !!!!!

  • I still like Karen Carpenter's version better, but the Lennon Sisters are great.

  • Prams!

  • Comment removed

  • @MrBuc128 Nope ,These are Califoria girls. No connection !!!!

  • If I had a baby that would be lullaby song

  • What is funny about this clip and the Georgy Girl Clip is how the producers used costumes and props to hide the pregnancies of the sisters. In this one, it looks like Janet and Peggy. In the Georgy Girl clip, it may be Kathy, but definitely Peggy (who by the way was once accused of "always being pregnant).

  • @gcblpn Peggy had her baby "Joey " in june after this was made ! Kathy has no children !!!!

  • they are soooo sweat! all the pregnant women should listen to that song every day!

  • BEAUT!

    LOVELY BUNCH OF .... GALS

  • 4 are too much.. ;-) - thx for the vid!

  • Looks like Barbara Eden @ 0:35

  • Does PBS run ABC episodes with the Lennons? I always seem to catch the syndicated years or the very end of the ABC years.

  • my parents grew up knowing them and their brother pretty well and had seen a few of them preform a few years ago but never had taken the time to look at what they did so long ago, huh, this is a trip...

lol, their brother is a weird guy

  • @Bayplaces Thier brother???? They has 5 brothers !!!

  • @fordman4444 yeah, i know, know Billy

  • @Bayplaces OK ,Their Dad's namesake !

  • @boatracer39 are you trying to tell me i don't know Billy?

  • @Bayplaces Absolutely not ,I am just stating who he was named for! ?????

  • @boatracer39 oh, cannot say that I have asked him why his name is what it is...

  • so proud of the Lennon sisters are of mexican heritage! lov them!

  • I so love this!

  • When did Janet have her first baby? I thought it was May 1967 (I could be wrong). If so, is this show only a day or 2 before she gave birth, or was it almost immediately after having her baby?

  • I love this song! The Lennons were so pretty and talented. This is a great version of this song compared to Herman's Hermits and the Carpenters. I love the styles of the sixties. People dressed nicer a were clean cut. Lawrence Welk was the best show on TV. ABC sucks for canceling it. Thank you PBS for bringing him back on Saturday night. TV sucks today.

  • @musicbuff9 I love the irony- the difference between your name and your taste!

  • I remember seeing The Lennon Sisters in Toledo, Ohio back in the late 50's early 60's. Are any of them still alive?

  • All are alive and well! The two youngest (Kathy and Janet) still perform on special occaisions with their younger sister Mimi !

  • alll very christian and church like very clean cut but thats ok everything dont av to be off the scale and obscene--- i personally like trippy drug music hard rock pycadelic 60s stuff but this tune somehow jus does it for me reminds of my mum

  • Sooo sweet and wholesome!!!

  • Most of them are hot.

  • ALL of them are HOT!!!!

  • It isn't a dream, it's the motherfucking lennon sisters, and as demure as people think they are, and as a pretty hardcore fan of 90s music and feminine music of any time period,I think they are TOP NOTCH!

  • One great thing about the Lennon Sisters- they really did put family first. Dianne was better than many of the other stars in the early days, like Sandra Dee, but instead of trying to leave the group for films she retired to be a wife and mother. Just watch some of those movies from the late fifties and early sixties, usually the female star is a step or two below Dianne in talent.

  • You are so right there. They all could have gone on to bigger and better things, but chose to stick together ! Shobiz was not their first priority !!!! Family,God and then showbiz in that order !

  • They deserved much more than the minimum wage Welk paid them. The best time for the Welk show was when you had all four together, Lynn Anderson, and Andra Willis.

  • Dressing them in those habits makes perfect sense. That's whay they call them the Lennon "Sisters."

  • yer know i cant get this tune outa my head, must av played it here on youtube about 20 or so times, enhances the effects of my weed.....proper good honest clean tune....kicks the ass off some of the so called music of today

  • I can understand.. but try it without the weed. This song is really organic... The Lennon Sisters did a kick ass job!

  • mad as cat in a balloon---i like it though very catchy

  • Fall is here. It's dark after supper, so it's time to stay inside with Grandma and watch the LW show... Memories... I've listened to this version so much, I forgot what the original sounds like!

  • I'd like to "La, La, La" with every single one of them!

  • I bet one of them was pregnant at this time...

  • I'm going to start watching this again....

  • I watch this every Saturday Night. I guess I honor my late grandparents cuz they watched it then.

  • God have we lost our innocence. Can you imagine anything this wholesome and corny on TV today? This is def too hoky, but makes you long for entertainment that isn't about sex or violence.

  • I think what is so neat is the harmony they are all singing together and not sounding like they are singing over each other good talent!

  • is this who they make fun of on snl?

  • Those "babies" would be 42 years old now. I guess they would be to heavy to be carried these days.

  • Lol you dont know how that made me laugh XD

  • I'm sure he'd be ashamed if they were!!!!!!!!!!!

  • This little skit fits them perfectly seeing how they love children so much.

  • yeah, i'll admit I get a totally pedo/oedipal vibe from this clipette

  • とても良いです。

    very nice. isnt it?

  • To kserrah: Janet, Peggy, Diane (DeeDee) and Kathy.

  • lov the lennon sisters ........they are of mexican ancestry too. wow 1968 how times goes by ...

  • I think ALL love songs - even sappy drivel like this - should be sung in this sort of souless, robotic, marching-cadence, staccato manner.

  • who's who from left to right? names

  • I remember this gals appearing on the Andy Williams Show and Dean Martin all the time when I was a kid. Kind of a guilty pleasure.

  • Why are they nuns?

  • I think they are dressed as "nannys"

  • They are dressed like nanny's because Peggy and Janet are both expecting. Their costumes were designed to hide this fact.

  • Why would that need to be hidden? If they are holding "babies" then where did those babies come from?

Amazing how far we have come and yet we Americans are still so dang freaked out by how we procreate.

  • Take a look at the Georgy Girl clip where they are 'strategically" standing behind a fence to hide their preganancies. Janet was about 8 months pregnant at that point. And poor JoAnn Castle had to hide behind her piano when she was expecting her son. Things have changed a lot since 1967 - 68,

  • Because they took one toke over the line, Sweet Jesus!

  • Thery are not nuns, they are nannies.

  • It doesn't get any better than this !!!

  • Oh i was brought up with the Lenon Sister melodies from LPs that my parents own. I'd never seen any vidoes! Thanks for posting them :)

  • I seem to recall another Lawrence Welk version of this same song, but featured three out of the four Lennon Sisters. Does this ring a bell with anyone else?

  • Bert Kaempfert also had an instrumental version of this song, which was played on two local radio stations in early 1970s. I wish I could find it on CD.

  • I Like this Version and i am Becoming a Lennon sisters fan.

Listening to these Ladies is just Wonderfull

  • have you ever heard their version of Georgy Girl? it's amazing!

  • Yes, i Saved it. Its Such a Great Version.

  • Nestor Astorga has prepared a CD with the song THERE IS A KIND OF HUSH in an Instrumental Version in Organ.

    Visit: nestorastorga com

  • Wonderful song, sung so very well.

  • This reminds me how it was in the jungle of vietnam

  • hahahahaha. I can't help liking this stuff, and I guess I should be defending the Sisters, here--but your comments are hilarious. Each one funnier than the last.

  • Lawrence Welks version of the classic Herman Hermits song.

  • original is new vaudeville band
