nice, i tried some video using the smaller sticky mounts that came with the motorsports and surf kits, it popped off after about 5 minutes of riding but the surf leash mount saved the camera, this got me thinking, ANY mount i try i would rig some string from the binding to the camera so that if the mount fails you keep the camera. I put the surf mount on my old K2 board with a matte finish on top but i havent tried it on my new arbor board yet, not sure ifit will stick to the glossy finish
@99akol992 it's an original hero 5mp camera... two generations old now. Looks like it came from a gumball machine! The processor gets a lot of jelloing when the camera moves around a lot, and as you can imagine, when mounted to the back of a snowboard, it moves around A LOT.
I take it if I were to go over a 15ft kicker it would pop off my board? I want to try some park riding from the board view...but riding a lib the suction wouldn't work on the bio top, and from what you seem to be experiencing is pop offs in the cold....
It's using the suction cup mount from the motorsports package. Like if you wanted to stick a go pro on the roof of your car. Will be using a surf mount this year if I get around to it. The downside of the suction cup is that if it gets any water (melted snow) under it, it will start to skate around on the board.
yes, if you use the surfboard mount. The sticky mounts that come with the camera are much smaller and have less surface area and their ability to stick is somewhat suspect. The surfboard mount has at least 5X the sticky surface area of the smaller stick on mounts. So the surfboard mount *should* work better.
**Note -- I haven't actually tried the surfboard mount on the mountain yet, but it did work just fine on a wakesurf board getting towed behind a boat this summer.
I know it might seem like the snow flare that gets on the camera is annoying, but it's actually a cool effect, especially if you can figure how to reduce the camera shake.
Sweet! ...this was the type of shot I was taking when the mount on my GoPro failed and the cam exited stage left. No idea if someone found it and took it or if it sailed off the side of the trail. Haven't tried a reshoot with the replacement cam yet. ...I wonder if RainEx would help avoid snow accumulation in front of the lens?
shot this with the suction cup mount. I'm a little disappointed with it... it sticks great, but I didn't anticipate that it'd move around on the back of the board with a little bit of moisture under the cup. Oh well, gotta keep gopro in business, so I threw down for a couple of the huge super sticky surfboard mounts.
you would never know if it fell off

@petawawapete1 I had it connected to my leg with a snowboard leash.

I mounted my GoPro with screws directly on to the board.
It’s tears up the board a little bit but you don’t have to worry about it falling off.

Nice I was thinking of doing that but with a flip minohd . But I don't think it going to have such a big angle to film like the gopro..
And I was thinking of getting a GPS windshield mount to do it

what kind of mont are you using? Is this the gopro surfing package (3M Adhesive Mounting Base ), or did you adapted the the gopro helmet package?
Looks good anyway!

So I can cocluded that you believe the 3M adhesive will work better than the suction cup... Right???
Thanks!

Glad you like! The season ended before I got to play with the surf mounts much. I'm looking forward to giving those a try.
